The second of the two Rupert Hine co-produced albums. While I enjoy the hell out of both Presto and RtB, I was glad they went back to Peter Collins (and the driving, heavy 3-piece sound, which they, Collins, and Kevin Shirley absolutely nailed) for Counterparts. Anyhow, this is a really good song. It doesn’t make any of my playlists, but it fits well within the scope of the album. Alex’s work is top-notch, as always, as you said.
Great comment Wally, you get it! True Rush fans understand that ever searching, exploring expanding musical horizons that personify what the band was all about.
Good show Wally you finally finished Roll the Bones. It's time to finish Hold Your Fire, you have 4 songs left. PRIME MOVER, LOCK AND KEY, TAI SHAN and HIGH WATER all great songs from this album.
Got to say. I love your reactions to Rush. You react to tracks that no-one else did. Roll the Bones is a very underrated album and this song is one of the most underrated.
The word you were looking for is "progressive". From album to album over 40 years their sound 'progressed' as did their song writing, their musicianship and their production skills. The very definition of "progressive rock" aks "prog'. The thing about Rush, though, is that throughout their progression they always had an identifiable, immediately recognizable sound. No matter which era of Rush you hear, it always sounds like Rush.
Before I say this, I have been a diehard Rush fan for over 40+ years. I love every album. This album does not date well, nor does Presto. Please don’t hate me, it’s just the way I feel. Clockwork Angels on the other hand will age like fine wine imo.
Who ever is typing these lyrics out it constantly making mistakes!!! Buy the cd and read them off the official cd because all these songs there is at least one mistake on every one and it counts!!
That's what it says on the RUSH website (don't think they got it wrong). "Running dog is a pejorative term for an unprincipled person who helps or flatters those more powerful and often evil." (Wikipedia) Sounds like an expression Peart would have known and used in his lyrics.
Woo hoo Wally I always love some Rush!

Wally Rocks!!
I love all the versions of the RUSH sound. They did many different sounds but it always sounds like Rush regardless of the direction they went.

I just love this ending!!! Great reaction, great ending for a great album, Alex Lifeson solo at the end makes me drop a tear everytime!!!
The backing vocals to the song in the chorus was an introduction to many subjects and topics.
Helpful before google!

Loved your reaction! Subscribed!
Please Wally react to walnut tree by keane. Is another masterpiece!!!
Wally had two double negatives in the video, but I still love him. He is probably in Quebec, so his English should be graded on a "curve".

See it counts I at least corrected it

This is the worst song on a mostly sub-par album that didn't sell real well.
Rush 👎👎👎👎 inintéressant.
What you mean I think is every album sounds different but the songs sound the same on the individual albums
Rush is my favorite band BUT I HAVE TO SAY this is one of my least favorite albums
