In this video, we take a look at the Voxelab Aquila 3d printer. This has to be one of the most requested reviews I have had in a while. The Voxelab Aquila has the exact same specs as the popular Creality Ender 3 v2 but at a fraction of the price. Lets find out what this printer is all about!

The Aquila is great for the price point. Thanks for the shout-out!
Just bought a Voxelab Aquila this past Friday and have been printing all day. I can't believe how amazingly precise it prints. I added a $6 Micro SD extension cable through the screen enclosure so firmware updates would be easy. I ordered silent fans for the hot end too. Been printing all kinds of things nonstop.
Could you share what replacement fans did you get and if your satisfied with them. THAnks!
I’d also love to know!
Hey, The beep is set in the firmware in Marlin. If you have access to the firmware files you can change that very easily.
Can you de-solder the speaker and add a switch between it and the pcb thus allowing you to turn it on/off via hardware?
@@timlemmon9474 you can tuen it off in the firmware. At least in Marlin and I believe reprap. Not sure about klipper.
Moving forward to 2022: Amazon had a lighting sale, $30 off at $189, C.C. rewards & free shipping put me at under $147. Great information, with 30 currently, 1/2 scratch built, I still couldn't resist, plus at 81, I've heard the one with the most toys win's.
I don't understand why people are trying to get a cheap printer. That never works out well. I would like to see good printers that are more dependable and have more features in the $400 price range.
Got this as my first printer last week. Love it!
Just bought one as my first printer. I was so close to pulling the trigger on the ender during all the black Friday sales, but I stumbled across your video comparison and went with the aquila instead. Thanks for the review !
Yea, I just got one a few days ago too, first 3D printer. It was smooth sailing all the way with the Aquila, building it and doing the first few small prints, etc.
There's a pretty steep learning curve if you dive into Cura and want to adjust all the settings, support, infill, etc, but at the same time it's pretty easy if you just go with the "stock" settings..
3D printing is definitely a lot of fun.. I'm looking forward to the times in the future when I need a part for the car, or something random around the house, and then I remember "Oh, I can just print one!"
@@JoeBob79569 These things are so cool. Just ordered one myself can’t wait to receive it. My thought was that if supply chain issues get worse people are going to start making parts themselves and 3-D printers will become extremely valuable. I guess we’ll see!
I'm thinking about buying one for black friday this year. How has it held up after almost a year?
@@theundeadone mine has held up great ! I did some small upgrades like the quiet fans, PTFE tubing, definitely do the software update to help prevent thermal runaway. Everything you need or want to do he has a video for on his channel. 👍🏽
@@dirtymikendaboys that's great to hear. I'll definitely be pulling the trigger on this then. I appreciate the upgrade info as well.
My first 3D printer was the Aquila, then my 2nd one was an Aquila, and I will stay with this. Might upgrade to the X2 though. I've had little issues with this printer. I did have to replace the extruder stepper after about 4 months, but I've been running this "Hobbyist" printer hard. My only suggestion is to upgrade the plastic extruder with a Winsinn Aluminum extruder. It's worth the $20.
Do you have a model number for that Winnsinn Aluminum extruder?
I just bought this yesterday for 144.99 on a flash deal on Amazon. Supposed to be here early..which is tomorrow..Can't wait and great video
Any update?
Yeah how is the printer ?
I just bought this as my 3rd printer. Purchased on Amazon for $160 in a flash sale Thursday and received it yesterday. I assembled it last night. 👍👌😁
I like the fact that the printer I bought before watching reviews was actually a good choice
Can you review the one before that the x2
@ModBot you might be interested in this, as you asked about my Snapmaker 2.0 a few times. Over the weekend, I tried a POC where I wanted to find out how fast I can print with it while retaining a good quality for functional parts. The results turned out to be rather amazing, as I had never really tried that before. What I found is on a stock Snapmaker 2.0:
1. For simple geometries (rectangles and circles) that do not have overhangs < 60°, it can print very nice prints that don't have any ringing at 80mm/s and 1,000mm/s^2 acceleration.
2. For complex geometries and those with overhangs < 60°. it can print very nice prints that don't have any ringing at 60mm/s and 1,000mm/s^2 acceleration.
However, if you add additional cooling, #2 can print at 80mm/s. The limiting factor that I ran into is the stock part cooling does not move enough air. With enough cooling, it will even print at 100mm/s. I was running the same tests on my Ender 5 Plus with the Micro Swiss Extruder and the Creality Silent Board, but it did not fare well at all. The Creality Silent Board does not support linear advance, and thus had extreme ringing and acceleration oscillations that are not ringing, when used at 1,000mm/s^2. I have a BIGTREETECH board and 7" display to replace it, but I need to build a mount for it first.
Watching the print head and bed move that fast, shaking the table as they move, was truly amazing. Anywho, I thought I'd give you an update.
it's good to hear 3d printer content creator using metric and celsius :D
I was looking to buy a Creality Ender 3 V2, Then I saw a video review y another 3D printer Channel and went for this Voxelab Aquila, And I very pleased I did.
This is a fantastic 3D printer clone of the Ender 3 V2.
I was very easy to build since it was at least 60% mostly pre-built and all the parts were and are top notch quality even the labeled single bolts and screw bags were good quality plastic bags!
The company does have on you tube a official how to build and level video which was one of the best detailed clear how to videos I've ever seen!
I had the printer built and leveled and printing really lovely prints in 1 hour from unpacking the printer which was super well packed in dark foam.
With this printer I was able to print PET-G for the very 1st time, My other printer which was my 1st brought one has one really big problem, I can't seem to level the bed right no matter how many hours I tried? That printer is the Tronxy X5SA 2020 Upgraded Model. It has a big build volume and good touch screen ut no good if I can't level it?
And yes I saved money buying the Aquila over the Ender 3 V2, I saved £87.00p which is great for a printer which is a good clone of the Ender 3 V2.
The Voxelab Aquila is a pure joy to level and print. The only thing I wish it had was a Touch screen.
There is a Ender 3 V2 upgrade I saw on Amazon UK which is a big touch screen that is made for the Ender 3 V2.
I wonder since the Aquila is a clone of the Ender 3 V2, Could that touch screen upgrade part be used on the Aquila too?
Here is the link to the screen for the USA and for the UK. if anyone is interested?

Made my decision right now & voxelab is on the way! Thank you!!!
This was my first 3d printer and it has been great. It has run hundreds of hours in the last couple of months. The one big deal is it is extremely hard to find parts for. I keep hearing Ender 3 parts would work but then I noticed there are a ton that don’t. If someone could make a video going over which parts work on the Aquila I would almost pay money for that.
Just print the parts that you need 🙃
But ye it's quite concerning that some "advertised"parts don't completely seem to mesh
I’ve upgraded this thing from head to toe at this point. The only difference that I’ve had to deal with is the x carriage and the x end stop. The rest have been drop in replacements. I’m not too sure about the y carriage the holds the bed though, I haven’t looked to changing anything around there.
I have 3 Aquilas and love them. One I bought as a customer return for $99, It had a bad main board but voxelab customer service sent a new one for free. I might get some quieter fans but that's really my only complaint. I plan on getting more
I added quieter fans to it. It makes the whole difference, my printer went from 65db to 43db while printing.
I bought a used one for $99. My motherboard had the bed heater stuck on. Luckily, I had a SKR2 board on hand and upgraded it with that. So far, I'm really happy. I'll probably buy another $99 one. They seem to come up every once in a while.
I've just started watching your videos and they are great. I especially love your 3D printer reviews. It would be really cool and useful if you did a video like "best 3d printers under 200$" or something like that, I'd definitely watch it. Overall great job on your videos man 👍
Print a cap to go over the beeper, it doesent silence it but makes it much more bearable
or cut the speaker wires. hah
Newest community firmware have the option to turn beeper down or off.

I cut mine off
Put a layer of tape over the beeper, it will reduce the output sound volume.
Disconnecting or desoldering the beeper is very easy if sound is a problem
Why is your link to purchase the Aquila printer in your description different from the 3d printer in your video review?? If you look at the pics, the power supply is on top back side in view and lcd screen in front bottom is different..?? Looks like a cheaper version in your link?? Donr know.. Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks!
Awesome review! definitely looking to get a few of these workhorses!
Wonder how will both stack for longevity.
I have a cr10 which is now 6 years old and is running the last two years in a camper van (I am vanlifing non stop since 2020 with my old cr10 inside)
I ran it pretty hard before moving it into the camper, with some really large almost full volume prints pretty often, now I don't print so often in the camper and never print for longer than 8-10 hours at a time but all the vibrations from driving and all are quite the torture test.
I have to say hands down this thing rocks, last week was the first time I had to change something since I bought it , the y axis nema motor, that's it.
Maybe I got very lucky with my unit but still.
I should maybe make a channel testing 3d printers for durability in my camper 😂
Thanks man! Awesome vid very informative.
Hello, please tell me some video tutorial on how to install Marlin on Voxelab Aquila
I'm currently testing one myself. I agree it's very comparable to the Ender 3 V2.
I feel like its more of a copy than anything else. The Ender made in cheap. Just wonder what costs they cut on to be honest.
@@Android-bd8fti bet creality just overprices more because they’re the most popular (therefore having more support), but i’d also like to know of the hardware cuts because it seems almost the same as the ender but ~$100 cheaper
I bought one of these in January and I freaking love it
I just bought this. Looks great!
Is Voxelab trying to create confusion? After watching your video, I checked out the Aquila. There are four versions. Their S2 version sells for the same $279 as the Ender 3 V2. You can get an Aquila for as little as $169 but is comparable to the Ender 3 V2 or just the original $189 Ender 3? So yes, the cheapest Aquila is $100 less than the most expensive Ender 3 but I don't know if that's a fair comparison.
S2 has a direct gear extruder
I've had the Ender 3 V1 for a couple months now, I have the tensioner upgrade but haven't gotten around to installing it yet because I'm busy using the printer.
I got mine discounted as a scratch and dent (one little bitty unnoticeable scratch, SCORE) ao it was 33% off the $240 price tag (at the time of purchase)
with the auto-bed leveler (soon) and the bowden tube upgrade (first thing I did to it) it'll serve me just fine for a Looooong time.
You can also load the ender 3 v2 firmware on it and print a vertical mount.
I have one of these printers and it works great, there is one option I would like to see and its with changing filament mid print, there is no option to use the load and unload filament when you are printing, but the option is there when you are in the menu when not printing,😎
at the moment on amazon the aqua is £170 and the ender 3 v3 se is the same price right now would u buy it still im looking to buy a 3d printer to build rc parts in pla or tpu or something else thats stronger with black friday deals
Could you review the Ender 6?
You mentioned a micro usb tether port, what can it be used for and what software is required? asking because I just bought one and am loving making things with it so far and was wondering about the ports use.
I got the Anycubic Kobra which is about the same cost.
I want to pronounce it Ah-kee-la, like tequila. Who knows. Anyway, awesome video, will be considering this machine as the ender’s price point is a bit high at the moment. keep them coming
This is totally correct. My high school year book was named Aquila and it was many years later that I realized that no one had pronounced it correctly. A quill a is also wrong as we used to pronounce it. BTW, this is native American for eagle.
i got the n32 model it only shows bl touch support on the h32 and g32 models do u know if n32 supports it
I have a voxlab aquila, and it has worked great for me but I want to know if the ender 3 laser engraver attachment would work on the aquila?
can you please compare it with s1? I think I can upgrade X2 to an S1
Nice review 👍🏼
After watching this video I immediately bought the Aquila printer
Been trying for a week now to print something but can’t get anything to stick to the build plate 😖
Damn, any update looking to buy one tomorrow
It’s just my inability to set the z offset correctly. It took some time but I got it to work. Now my problem is corner curling. I’ll keep working on it, I would Say go for it.
Thank you for the update, I'll be ordering it tomorrow thanks 😊
just bought one, hope it's as good as you say
I was just looking at an Ender 3v2 because of all the community support that Ender machines have, especially when it comes to Cura settings. I currently have a Longer LK1Pro, and there's almost no support for that. it had its own slicer, and seemed finicky when trying to print files sliced in Cura (admittedly it could also be that I'm a noob and just couldn't dial in the settings properly). Since this comes with a working Cura profile, that may have just tipped the scales to getting this machine instead (and putting the money saved toward a resin printer).
Who the heck doesn’t know what landscape vs portrait orientation is!? That was a really strange thing to say.
You would be surprised. Unless you're a photographer or artist, the average person doesn't know the difference
I know this may sound silly, But you mentioned the fans are loud in the hot end. Can you upgrade those fans to something a bit better/quieter? or is it just not worth the extra time and effort?
Honestly I would totally sacrifice my CR-10s print size for this printer
A-kee-la. :) Nice review, I've just bought one!
For some reason whenever I print with my voxelab Aquila it only prints like half of it like half of what I want to print
Creality printers are no longer price competitive. But what they do have is after market support. Other printers might be cheaper but you will suffer afterwards when you look to fix the deficiencies in the device. Or even if you want to update the firmware. I think if *really* wanted to choose another brand I'd choose Biqu simply because they supply lots of Creality after market bits including mainboard so the support options are pretty good.
I have the N32 chip aquila x2 printer. while it did work at first and not using it for a while tried printing a part I made but it was doing all sorts of wacky stuff. at first I thought it was my slicer or my fusion 360 model but I now can rule them out. I decided to update my software to the latest drivers. installed it it was fluttering didn't realize it was installed till I checked and saw that it was. Now its worst then ever. crud I'm frustrated.
Hi, I just found your great video. I am a noob looking to get my first printer. You picked the Voxelab Aquila over the Ender 3 V2. I know this was a year ago and things change. What model Voxelab Aquila? X2? or V2? Do you still have this opinion ?
this is really good as the Ender 3 v2 here in the uk is about £190 to £220 tho the Ender 3 v2 is only £170 on Bang good so not sure if this printer is worth it ?
I have had a few successful prints but I find the bed leveling keeps adjusting itself I suspect the cheap springs under the plate, also I cannot seem to get this to work smoothly with the cura profile that was supplied with it, have stripped and rebuilt fine tuned and still having the same bed level issue :/ ill see what happens after new springs are installed
Thank you for this vidéo, with it i can now buy the voxelab quila :)
Spend the extra $100 on 4 rolls of PLA!
Or buy something like gst3d and get 10 rolls of PLA for that extra $100. Pay attention to deals and you will find great filament for super cheap too, not that long ago I bought a bunch of grey Eryone PETG for $10 a spool. Havnt paid more than $16/kg for a while.
for those of you who are experienced in this hobby i am new to this hobby would u guys recommend this as a good printer to start with?
For a newbie
What filament should be used for what
Best all around filament
Can this machine handle all types or what ones don’t you recommend to use
About to order this machine on your recommendation
Thanks
Use PLA, is easy to print, relatively cheap and it does not harm you as the ABS (toxic fumes). And if you need to print stronger pieces use PETG, but first learn with PLA, I would say.
I'm looking at the Aquila versus the original (NOT V2) Ender 3 now, the prices are nearly identical with the Ender only being 10 US more, which is better at that point?
Would you recommend the Aquila over the anycubic mega S?
I honestly thought it was the skull that was the killer as I printed one in glitter the other day that killed my printer
brother please suggest me which one is better Ender 3 pro or V2
I want mine to beep the Dixie horn every time I press a button lol.
had a look at it but for the UK the price jumps significantly to $252.00 i'm looking at getting my first 3d printer but put off by the fan noise
UK here too.... Did you ever get one?
Hey how would you compare the Voxlab Aquila to the Tronxy xy-2 pro
ender 3 pro vs the others; another video idea is best beginner 3D printer that can do 3 different filaments so you can do multicolored prints
but theyre the same price in my region :) which one should i get? im gonna replace those loudy fans anyway (aquilla and ender 3 v2)
What is the Aquila model?
Not sure where your seeing it so cheap but in Canada it’s only 15 dollars less than the ender 3 v2. I’d stick with the ender 3 personally due to their much longer time in the market. 260 for VOXEL and 275 for ender 3 v2.
Any thoughts on the Elegoo Neptune 2 or the Neptune X?
I bought the neptune2 and received today, a bracket that holds the X stepper motor is overbended 85.4° instead 90° so I can't mount it... I'm returning it and I will try this one... Holly lotery "made in china" ... If you are lucky you have a great money/quality ratio, I was very pleased with the Anycubic Mega I3, I think I was lucky but that machine was printing very well, I regret it now to have sold it.
@@JP-xd6fm That really sucks, I pre-ordered the Neptune X, hope it arrives perfect
Sure it will, looking the reviews I just got the "bad" one but people seems to be very happy with the brand. It looks nice the X, a shame doesn't have a larger build volume. Hope you get it fast, let me know if you like it if you remember. ;)
Would you mind sharing the tool caddy model? Looks cool
someone uploaded the complete sd card content
www.mediafire.com/file/rj78dkcbk7p6f7z/ORIGINAL_SD_CARD.zip/file
Is that a Nomad 3 in the background?
I bought the Aquila many moons ago, just went and checked the official website for new firmware...lo and behold it seems there are now 3 different chipsets! But which do I get? Is there a sticker or other way of identifying which chipset I have on mine? Or is one of those 3 for the people who bought one when it was still brand new like me?
There is a sticker that is to the left of the y axis rail. The sticker is to the right of the other stickers on that top electric box cover. It will either say n32 or h32. If no sticker is present then it is a g32
@@Famousbird54 yeah I have a g32 then. I got the thing when it was still north of $300 brand new. Way back when.
You're joking... I.. I just bought an Ender 3 v2 2 weeks ago, I started modding it 3 days ago for the silent fan mod (with some difficulty, the guides do not mention ALL the stuff you need). Why didn't this show on my recommended sooner?
A real kick in the teeth is, I'm subscribed. *sighs*
It looks identical, I am shocked, amazed and really disappointed that I didn't see this sooner. I'm gonna go cry in the corner now.
lol no!! The printer you got is still awesome and the Ender 3 v2 has been a solid machine. There is always something new coming out but honestly I love even my printers that are multiple years old. Enjoy what you have, the v2 will bring you lots and lots of great prints :)
Ender 3 V2 have a lot more community mods. I replaced all my fans with noctuas to make it whisper silent, if you're farther than 6 feet away you can't tell if it's on or off by the sound.
Unless you do some serious mods, these printers are good but slow depending on part size. Hence if you really want better results without too much time spent doing mods you need to think in the direction of having more than one printer to work with. I am seriously considering adding more printers to upgrade over the slow - to - print problem.
I'm considering taking the plunge into 3d printing. My question is - if I want to make a specific item to fit another item (like a lid for a jar, for example), how would I model that in 3d so it would be accurate and snug? I already have a 3D program (Lightwave 3D) which will export a Collada, STL, or OBJ. I just want to make sure I'm able to model something that would be accurate to fit it's purpose. Thanks :)
Measure, print, measure again
You could print the specific item instead of printing an item to make another item fit into the other item. I hope you get what I mean
Man-o-man it turns out that my newest 3V2 is a dud. I fix one issue and another arises. Now the SD reader is notworking. I have tried everything posted to fix this POS. I have an email into Creality and I'm sure their going to send a new MB because I can't even us the USB connection to print. The but issue is the factory stripped out one of the allen nuts leading to the MB....uggggggggg. I'm seriously thinking of just chucking this nightmanre and going with a Voxelab
How do you suppose this printer will work with ASA? Since there is so much attention paid to heat on this and other printers I wonder how enclosing it might effect overheating of components?
This is not a printer for asa. You would have to upgrade the hotend to an all metal to print at asa temps safely. Not hard to do but should be aware
@@Famousbird54 Thanks
This brings 3d printers into the same price range as 2d printers.. in other words 3d printing is now affordable..
However, this printer is quite new and it may take a while for business to be found and fixed.
The only thing holding 3d printing back now, if anything, is the technical aspect. 3d printers are less like 2d printers and more like cars in that they need maintenance.
Understanding that and the low price, there's no reason there couldn't be another 3d printing revolution and a resulting explosion of folks which to enjoy this great hobby..
So would this be a good first printer for a novice?
How about anycubic vyper?
Hey im new to 2d printing and bought the aquila, some issues I have are bed adhesion but mostly its the stringing on the print, I feel it can be alot cleaner for pla, and my sports leave the bottom of what I'm printing unsmooth, is this normal???
For bed adhesion I recommend a glue stick. and stringing could be a number of things, could turn the hot end down a little, if it's too hot when the filament retracts molten plastic may still ooze out the end causing stringing.
"THERE'S NO SPACE IN HERE!!"
The 100 3d printers in the backround
* jk your content is great :)
Spent the savings on fans, filament and a filament drier.
Why always print a silencer?? Just add a thermos switch
it will be so cool if they build a app you can get files
My shiny new Ender 3's pause/play function is total bork. It lost Z by several mm to the negative and nearly ripped itself apart.
My guess is the z axis stepper motor is not being help in place when you pause it and this allows the carrier to drop some
Great Video! I wonder if this printer (or the Ender 3) could be placed on a surface of 50 x 35 cm? If the printer's structure is fix and strong it shouldn't be a problem I guess?
That price? Buy it just because😂💯💪
Ender 3 v2, suggest ya check Jeyers firmware for that printer. Has a beeper silence option, and even marquee over file names. Making the firmware way better, stock is an after thought.
+1 on Jyers firmware, it’s a must for ender3v2
I just got the ender 3 V2 and within two weeks of purchase it no longer raises vertically as it's printing. Could the stepper motor go bad that fast? I'm not using it night and day. The manufacturer seems to be ignoring me which is very upsetting. They were happy to take my money but seem to leave me no Avenue for help. I have so far not found an 800 number or alive people able or willing to assist. Did I just throw my money away. If I was even willing to waste more money I can't even order the stepper motor . Because no one seem to are you willing to talk to me about it. Please I need help. The manufacturer seems to have no meaningful customer service.
Thanks for this comparison video. I am wondering if the jyers/Marlin firmware will work on the Voxelab machine? Also, is the firmware update process the same on this machine as it is in the E3V2?
Thanks!

I love it
What 300mm x 300mm 3D printer would you recommend since some of my parts big?
Artillery® Sidewinder X1
this is my first 3d printer and i been using it for months now, and i love it, but one thing that tick me off about it was with customer support, a month i got it the heated bed the cables burnd out like the ground wired just charded and when i ask about it with them, i never heard from them they only ask me for my order and then nothing afther that, its been a month now and nothing.
That’s good to know. Customer support is important, especially on a first 3D printer purchase.
@@mwinner101 I love it just the customer service is not there there
@@LuisTricoroFlores Weirdly enough I had the complete opposite experience. One of my fans was vibrating due to a loose blade. I contacted them and the next day I got a tracking number for the new part.
@@wisllayvitrio weird for me they just told me if i had any question and i said what can i do to get it fix or get send a new one but no, no answer to it, it it was only a month from when i bought it.
wish i watched this before i got the ender 3 v2 ;-;
Very interesting. It looks like Voxelab is targeting both the Creality and Elegoo markets, though only the high sellers at this time.
I don't support knockoffs. They do not innovate, but rip off. I paid 200€ delivered for my Ender 3 V2 in Germany. That is not a bad price for a really popular and trusted brand.
How do I print my own figures?is that possible
@MR. EDITZ I’d like to make some figures I have in pictures
@MR. EDITZ thank you so much
Aquila is dope but if you wanna use BLTouch, you should get a custom firmware like Alex's firmware
The price in UK is the same if not more expensive.
maybe good for the price but currently they are shipping the printer with a 512k firmware on a 256k board. The board and chip are supposed to be 512k but they have bad sectors and are operating at 256k.
no. the stock firmware is compiled for 256k and working flawless. but nevertheless i recommend to flash github.com/alexqzd/Marlin/releases/tag/v1.3.4
