I can't express how happy I was to see him become olympic champion. Smetov has been on the circuit for so long and in my opinion theres no-one who deserves it more than him. He is such a versatile fighter and shows beautiful judo whenever he steps on the tatami. I totally wasn't expecting him to be on top since he didn't seem to be always on form in the last few years, I thought his downfall was starting due to his age, especially in the -60kg category since there are a lot of young explosive fighters. But to see him win gold, with so much style, truly shows what an amazing Judoka he is. Definitely one of the GOATS in judo and probably my favourite judoka at the moment!

man thats some gold level judo rihht there. contering am opponent after he performs a technique is one thing but able to counter whilst the opponent is performing the technique is a whole different level
