Bologna University of Italy is considered to be the oldest university in the world which is still standing today. This university was built in the 11th century and about 100 years later Oxford University was built in England.
For those people in India who have not studied history well, the history of universities in the world starts from here. For them, there was no university in the world better than Oxford and before Bologna University.
But according to the history that most people in India have read or believe, 500-600 years ago, there was a great university in India. The greatness of this university is so much that today if you and I see the ruins of that university and roam around those broken walls, we feel proud even after centuries.
10000 students from more than ten countries of the world were studying together in this university at a time when Oxford University was not even built. At a distance of ten kilometers from this university which told the whole of Asia outside India about many different subjects ranging from Buddhism and Ayurveda to space, now once again an effort has been started to preserve that greatness, that history and that grandeur along with the feeling of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam which had disappeared in India with the closure of this university 800 years ago.
The history of the world's oldest residential university, the story of its closure and then the effort to find it and after that how the revival of this great university is going on - today we are going to tell you all this in this video.
