You guys need to play a game of who said it where Lindsey reads a quote and George and Rachel have to guess if its from the bible, a famous person, or Dave/other Ramsey personnel.
These episodes get better and better! Love the food and drink part, but the info blew my mind! Thanks for keeping us in the know! You guys are awesome!
This was a fun episode. I wish they'd do an episode on the rise of "Buy Nothing" groups. What they think of the movement? IF they belong to one? Best item they've ever received? Personally, I love hand-me-downs, so I love my local group. I don't think I spent more than $100 on my kid during his first 4 years of life because people gave me everything - clothes, furniture, toys, shoes, etc. Today, I live in a blue collar town w/out a lot of resources and I'm still amazed at the generosity of my neighbors. It's also been fun to discover new neighborhoods, just as I pick up or deliver things to folks. I'd love to know what Rachel + George think about "Buy Nothing" movement.
We have these groups and have benefited from it SO much as well! It helps save us money and helps us declutter as well on top of being generous also! What a blessing, both ways!
I have never gotten the allure of delivery. I mean it is at a huge mark up with the fee and you have to microwave it to be hot. Why pay extra for that. Just make a Sandwhich or have some cereal if you do not feel like cooking. I can not believe that people spend more than 20 bucks a day to have Luke warm crap delivered for lunch instead of packing a stupid lunch.
Im sure there are things that you do that people would call "stupid". Sometimes people just dont have the time. There are plenty of reasons why someone could order delivery.
One thing I want to make sure people understand; just because two different brands come from the same company, does not mean they are the same product or quality! It felt like the ghost kitchen conversation set the tone that "it's all coming from the same factory" and several times throughout this podcast, it was implied that there would be no reason to go for the more expensive brand because they all come from the same company. That's simply not the case. One manufacturer will use different brand names to differentiate their products because they are indeed so different.
I came here to say this. A large company may own many brands, but most brands under them still operate independently from each other. They just send their profit to the same umbrella company.
I spoke to someone who worked for a large soap company at the top of the company. He listed 3 brands that had totally different perceptions and branding. He said that they were identical. He also said that his own mother didn't believe him...
You guys are the most fun, and I love that this episode has more interactions with Producer Lyndsie!! Her reactions and responses are always the BEST! 😂
This makes total sense… I’ve picked up orders from strange names of restaurants, and there was a note that it’s inside another restaurant. Now I understand what’s going on!
As an old professional cook, I thought the food portion of this would be about frozen food versus store made. I see certain foods in many different places that I know are made by one company in a plant and sold frozen in many restaurants, hotels, institutions , even cruise ships and overnight trains that serve food. I've seen rolls, "grilled" chicken strips, and chicken breast, danish, sandwich ribs, etc.. and just kind of laugh to myself because I know they just took this out of the freezer and heated it up! I no longer tell my extended family, I was told by one of them that I ruined their experience! My poor husband has to hear me vent!
I got fooled by the Pasquale’s. Seemed mediocre when I ate it, but whatever. Then my wife gets home “who ordered Chuck E. Cheese” and I’m like…”uh not me, I just got pizza”. And then she showed me one of the papers with a picture of the logo on it. I was hilariously shocked.
0:35 I was going to purchase a new pair of New Balance. I budgeted to buy the shoes in September ’23, but they were sold out and discontinued on August 31. ☹️
Mr. Beast saved a lot of mom-and-pop restaurants during the pandemic by opening up his Mr. Beast brand to those businesses. Rather than shutting down completely, they cooked the burgers for his virtual chain.
So these mom and pop's were forced to close due to govt coercion but managed to save their business by helping a rich UA-camr line his pockets some more?
@@janisegott5185 indoor dining was closed... not restaurants. many people used doordash/uber eats to order food to their homes, and with the help of mr. beasts popular burgers, it attracted more takeout business to those restaurants. I know how much George hates MLM and thinks they're all a scam. BUT - I buy my household products, skin care, makeup and some food and health products from an MLM I've been involved with for 34 years. I love their products, they're simply the best. They do their own manufacturing and R&D. They have no debt and own several million square feet of manufacturing plant and offices. They do business in over 50 countries around the world. They aren't part of the corporate domination of what we buy in stores. Their manufacturing plant has a pharmaceutical rating which means their have a much higher standard for cleanliness in making their products. I use the products because the quality is very high and they don't compromise their standards. My line item for this company is a significant dollar amount, but it's worth it.
They have a ghost kitchens for other restaurants too like Chick-fil-A and Cheesecake Factory etc. I’m an Uber eats driver and I found this out while picking up for these restaurants at remote locations. There usually is a long wait to pick up food but it’s one very large kitchen and they cook remotely from where you would normally find one of these restaurants.
Tom's used to be called Tom's of Maine. It was bought out. Just like Bert's Bees and all the natural options of products start small and then sell to the big conglomerates.... Is Dr. Bonner's still stand alone?
The key to ordering takeout is to go pick it up yourself. When they say 15 minutes... leave in enough time to get there 5 minutes early. You'll have paid by the time it comes out and be able to leave immediately. It's always hot when i get home.
I am allergic to most soaps, body washes, and deodorants/antiperspirants. Instead of soap, I use shampoo, which has a different PH and is a little better, but not great. At least I just have dry skin and not a huge itchy rash. Instead of deodorant I have always just added a little Zinc to my water or taken a Zinc tablet. Less sweat less bacteria and no body odor. By the way, I live in Atlanta where the summers are HOT and MUGGY, and I am fine every day. I do wash my armpits every morning just because it isn't going to last a full two days, but I have zero BO all day and a good part of the next day. By the end of day 2, I definitely need a shower, so if I don't take a shower the second day in the morning I will wash my underarms. I am looking into starting to make my own body wash and hand soap, that isn't as harsh. At least as an adult, I don't have to buy prescription soaps anymore.

Some of the brands may have started as small privately owned brands and were later purchased by a larger corporation.
There are also ghost kitchen that are simply menu items from other restaurants. I delivered for Door Dash and picked up an order from an existing restaurant that was cooking and producing the food for the ghost kitchen.
Can you do an episode about old school/old money financial customs? Some ideas would be how families ensure their finances are passed on. Maybe keeping estates in the family. I'm also curious if families still give dowries to husbands when marrying.
Fun fact. Old spice is aluminum free and substantially cheaper than native and made by the same company. And a delightfully mild “man” scent especially compared to axe lol. As a female that’s been using it for over a decade. Can’t stop won’t stop 😂

Literally toothpaste and deodorant is just coconut oil and baking soda. Clean with vinegar and bleach. And if you really want to be cheap and healthy use mineral oil with a few drops of orange essential oil and you have a furniture polish. And all of those items are made by p&g or blackrock. The best thing anyone can do is look at ingredients.
Loved this one! Very interesting about all the big companies making all the different things! I use Tom's toothpaste 😢now I may have to rethink what I buy!! No name brands are made by ssme big companies right!!
The thing about it being by the same company is that Schmidt is the only brand that works for me as far as natural deodorants go. The formula is what makes them different
I stopped using Dove when I first learned that it also makes Axe. They make all these “pro body, pro woman” commercials for Dove and then make the most sexist commercials for Axe!
I do doordash for extra money and I went to a green turtle to pick up a Noah Schnap chicken order...turns out it was next door at the IHOP but trying to explain to the staff at Green Turtle that I was not insane, I knew I was at Green Turtle and all I was trying to do was get chicken from the kid on Stranger Things... You should do a game like this: Put sayings from the Bible like “Borrower is slave to the lender.” Then put a bunch of Dave Ramsey quotes like “Live like no one else….” And read them out and have contestants gues Bible or Dave.
BlackRock and Vanguard do not own all of those businesses, they manage the money for mutual fund and ETF holders, who are the actual owners. Saying that Blackrock owns these companies is like saying that your closet owns all of your clothing clothing.
@@lilic6747 That's the point, blackrock does not own those stocks, the people who own the accounts with blackrock own the company. It's like if I open an investment account with chase and buy a stock with P&G, chase doesn't own that stock, I do. They just brokered the purchase. That's the difference between "assets" and "assets under management"

And if you really want to be cheap and healthy use mineral oil with a few drops of orange essential oil and you have a furniture polish. And all of those items are made by p&g or blackrock. The best thing anyone can do is look at ingredients.
Enjoyed this episode!
We have a Pasquale’s that’s not Chuck E. Cheese. It’s been there for decades.
Dr. Teal’s offers an aluminum free deodorant for under $5. Love your show.
Loved this one! Very interesting about all the big companies making all the different things! I use Tom's toothpaste 😢now I may have to rethink what I buy!!
No name brands are made by ssme big companies right!!
Tom’s is still made in a small town factory in Maine USA, it just passes its profits up the food chain.
The thing about it being by the same company is that Schmidt is the only brand that works for me as far as natural deodorants go. The formula is what makes them different
Wow! I had no idea-ghost kitchens!
As a long-time sci-fi nerd 🤓 you gotta love an “evil corporation.” They’re a sci-fi story mainstay 😂
Mr. Beast was using Red Robin's kitchen at one point
Penhaligon's Endymion deodorant for winter, and fall, Quercus for spring, and summer.
Late to the episode here... but just wanted Rachel to know my 16 yr old boy uses Axe 😂😂😂 🤷♀️ but I'm with her and use Dove 🕊
My preteen son got a free sample of Axe body spray and sprays it generously. His bedroom now smells like a New Jersey casino. 😂
Hey Rachel ! Are you talking about scamanda?? It was sooo good !
Degree and dove are NOT the same product. Ive used both and degree doesn't work for me.
Great episode!
I remember the Teddy incident. I was so confused 😅
I stopped using Dove when I first learned that it also makes Axe. They make all these “pro body, pro woman” commercials for Dove and then make the most sexist commercials for Axe!
the internet attributes "Success is a pile of failure that you are standing on". - Dave Ramsey
Can't understand how they didn't get it 😂😂😂
Team George on food delivery. I'm not taking any chances.
You should do a game like this: Put sayings from the Bible like “Borrower is slave to the lender.” Then put a bunch of Dave Ramsey quotes like “Live like no one else….” And read them out and have contestants gues Bible or Dave.
You mean SLAVE to the lender?
I love your dress Rachel!
Tapple is Guesstures 30 years later. One you write, one you yell!
Just because the same company makes multiple brands doesn't mean the ingredients are the same.
Charles Entertainment Cheese lol So come on down to Mechanical Rat Pizza, and Child Casino.
Rachel - the best local mom and pop pizza is dolce vita!
BlackRock and Vanguard do not own all of those businesses, they manage the money for mutual fund and ETF holders, who are the actual owners. Saying that Blackrock owns these companies is like saying that your closet owns all of your clothing clothing.
Sorry to sound ignorant, but if they buy huge amount of stocks on a certain company, then they own that much on that particular company??right?
@@lilic6747They hold the shares for the benefit of their mutual fund or ETF investors.
Gives them a say, controlling interest, may mean that some of them have to dumb down to keep their shareholders happy.
I thought Pascuali’s was to keep Charles Entertainment Cheese open since the pandemic had them shut their doors
Pasquale is the chef at CeC . He is one of the animatronics!
Pasquale’s pizza has been around since the 80’s! I ate it as a little kid. And it’s pronounced pah- squal- ees
Generics are typically made in the same factories and cost a lot less.
