It’s nice to see you show Bethel Park some respect! I attended BP. From first grade and graduated as a National Merit scholar, earned a full academic scholarship to my beloved Allegheny College and returned to teach at BPHS ( the community was called Bethel when I started school and became Bethel Park before I graduated. I attended the U. Of Hawai’i for grad school and had an oceanfront apt. On Waikiki beach. When I moved back to Pittsbugh, I lived in Bridgeville for a year and taught at South Fayette HS for a year, then moved to the North Hills and started my tour operation and travel agency. I did some short term specialized teaching in the Mars school district but quit teaching to run my business in Richland Twp.but I spent the next 25 years in tourism. I now live in NC where I have 300 ft frontage on a private country club community ( once the only PGA course in NC) where the taxes are lower than PA’s and the weather is much better ) usually if we get snow, it’s for 1-2 days at most-sometimes we have no snow all year. My daffodils start blooming at the end of Jan. And the trees bloom in April) . I loved growing up in Bethel Park and watched it go from a semi- rural area to a busy suburb.. I have had friends move there who loved it, too.🎉I
I grew-up in the Suburb of Murrysville, from 1950 to 1970 in a subdivision known as Marlee Acres on Walker Drive, name after my Father who was one of the very first homeowners. Lot's of history there too. I presently live in Michigan since 1970, Now retired FoMoCo. with 34 years. I love the Steelers to this Day, spent some recreational time Downtown, Sports, Shopping, etc. Spent time in Export also, thats where my 1st Girlfriend lived, Graduated in 1969 from Franklin Regional High School. Now 70 years old. Hope to visit again one day soon.
Pittsburgh has some interesting properties at relatively nice prices. My family and I are thinking about the move from Colorado. Are budget is not too high because we won't be moving with jobs. Im open to a fixer upper as long as it's mostly cosmetic.
I agree with the choice of Shaler. Friendly folk up in Shaler! As to the South Hills, Bethel Park is a solid choice, As is Whitehall. I lived on the Whitehall-Brentwood border for years, And you can also find some nice deals in Brentwood itself, It's smaller than Whitehall and offers the the chance for your kids to graduate HS with friends from Kindergarten, as Brentwood is a small one town school district.
Thanks for your valuable comments James. Brentwood is an excellent recommendation. Not only affordable but also some great architecture, unique homes, and walkable community (all ingredients that the younger generation finds appealing.)
Hi Andrea. Would love to help you find a home. Many of clients start their process 9-12 months in advance. If you would like to get started, please reach out (markmcclinchie@kw.com or 412-758-8000).
Hi! Thanks! Yeah we will be doing this within much less time. Pretty much how we bought our first home as well here in Ohio. We get approved for a home loan, found a house and moved in all within 3 months. We Will be renting our home and already have that set up. This move will be due to my husband's promotion if he gets it, we won't know until November/December and he'd be starting in March. Once we know he's got it we will move full stream ahead! Thanks so much!
Yes outside of Allegheny County I would agree that affordable is much closer to 100k. The reality in Allegheny County finding entire suburban communities where median price is under 200k would definitely be considered affordable. Just depends on where you want to live.
