Its a great fun truck for silly cheap money, very durable as well. The very soft tires with no foams in is what makes this truck perform so well, when bashing off road. I tried Arrma Granite wheels which are considered very good off road tires with foams in them, I found the Gorgon performed better with its stock wheels on. I have also upgraded to brushless with 3660 - 3500kv motor & 120a esc & upped the pinion size, very fast on 2s & crazy fun on 3s. I run 3s mostly, you do need a wheelie bar when bashing now though which i fitted. Also need thicker oil in the shocks, plus shock spacers added all round especially to the front shocks.

Nice to see one on a track! This is one of my most fun rigs. Built it to BLX spec. The HR servo saver is a much needed addition. 🙌

Letsa GO! It'll need a custom paint job, easily worth a couple of tenths if not more. And I think that blue, white livery would suit it to the ground.

That thing is mega fun for what it costs, is going to be a market hit in no time 👏

My mate his young son had a traxxas 2wd truck. Was very slow and bad handling. Then made it brushless, tried tune shocks, shoft weight, etc, etc...eventually ended up putting it on the shelf because that thing is just crap. I sold him my old 1/8 buggy and he has 10x more fun now and is enjoying driving with the "big boys".
But seeing this thing, it looks to be way more fun and so much better handling. Won't buy one anymore off course since we drive the big cars now, but would have considered this definitely when it was on the market then... 2wd's have their own nice characteristics in my opinion.

I brushless swapped mine, added 40 weight oil in the shocks... This truck is great for what I have into it..

Just did the same, old Castle SCT ESC and 3600kv motor. Built it with my son for his 6th birthday as it is a nice easy build. He jumps it pretty well and it flies remarkably flat out of the box! 40 wt in the shocks might be stiff for racing but seems to work well for taking rough landings. Also put 30k fluid in the diff. I might drop the ride height a little, it seems to bounce off the landings and tip over.

This is a great build and test. I have seen many videos which give this truck high praise. I think the tires with no foams help the landings. I have seen two or three videos where the servo saver failed. But, for the most part people are extremely tough on these trucks. The only other criticism I saw was the body tends to crack in the rear where the rear body supports are tied in. I don't think you can beat it for the price.

As a first time watcher. I’d be moderately interested in a video or 2 watching them when they redo the track next time

For a high-riding monster truck that thing's surprisingly stable.

compared to a traxxas stampede that is as stable in corners as a party tent in a storm.

Noice! I'm looking forward to see what you do with the tires! Mine arrives on Monday and plan to do similar things (with the goal to turn some quicker laps). I'm fairly certain the stock shocks come with 20 weight, so i think you're right about hitting the mid 30's. I'll probably throw in 37.5/35 but I need to check it out first. Perhaps sourcing new wheels/tires is the best play. The plan is to run a 4 pole 540 size motor, Hobbywing 3652 4300kv on 16t pinion. Will see where that goes. Love your commentary and detailed info. Diff has a gasket so I've read you can fill it with fluid. I was thinking 40-60k to start, though I know you like your's higher. Cheers brother!

The stock servo is awful in these. Mine died after about 5 runs. I put a 20Kg metal gear servo in. It's Alot better now And it only takes 15 minutes to swap out the servo..

Or, and hear me out now, I could buy a Bandit and put Stampede tires on it.

almost done the same but rebuild my slash with bandit chassie and topped it with a stampede body.
keept slash tires on it and i could say its a stampede with a slight longer LCG chassie.
