- Welcome to episode #32 of our Franchise Mode series with the Vancouver Canucks on NHL 24! After an offseason of growth, we enter year #9 as defending Stanley Cup champions for the second time in our tenure with the Canucks so far. This time, however, we have our eyes on building a dynasty and won't want to skip a beat from where we left off. The Vancouver Canucks are a franchise that have been through decades of misfortune, mismanagement, and, really, just pure disappointment. With nothing to show but three Stanley Cup Final losses in their 50+ years in the NHL, the Canucks are on the brink of returning to an all-time low as they have only made the postseason twice in the last decade, have one of the shallowest prospect pools in the league, and are easily in one of the worst salary cap situations. With no where else to turn, Canucks ownership has made a call to GM Data and his team of Assistant GMs to do the impossible: fix the unfixable team.

Love a Canucks drop day and the team is looking really good! Incredible years from our core, lovely to see. And I think Pettersson will hit the franchise record for points - with Tippett falling off he might be the new Mr. Consistency!
I am so done with Goldmann and would be okay with seeing struggling prospects like quint, brown, etc. move out in a deal for a rental. We’re having such a good year, I think it would be a waste to not go all in on this incredible production. You don’t win back to back cups by accident - you need to take risks to win big, and we could use another top sixer if we moved tippett down. Texier and Chytil are my favourite options, they are cheap on cost who could push us over the top. With the top line looking the same this could leave the lines looking like:
Raty-Pettersson-Texier/Chytil
Montoya-Rasmussen-Tippett
Beaulieu-tyupkin-aku
That’s the best top 9 in the league right there and would push us closer to the top. But I’m just thinking out loud here. Anyways, in data we trust and thank you for the consistent streams and vids. Have a great day and go nucks.

Ahh Tommy Goldmann 😭 He's alright as 4C but our original expectations for him were certainly higher. If we were to acquire a rental, it'd probably be a middle 6 player who could slot into Tippett's spot at RW2 in a best-case scenario, allowing Tippett to produce on the 3rd line with Montoya as his PLY. It's hard to think of touching anything when we're performing so well, but I have to admit that I'm not sure anyone in the bottom 6 could really fill a top 6 role if we ran into injury trouble. Texier and Chytil will be explored as options before the deadline.

Damn, this team if firing on all cylinders! What a start to the season.
If we want to give more icetime and see an increase of production for some of our young dmen, we could get some of them PP time. PP isn't performing as well as we'd hope and someone like Rasmussen can be taken out to make room for them.
Might as well extend Arvidsson for 2 years with his demand being this crazy and hope his demands goes down for his next contract.
Not sure there's an upgrade for us on the block. Anyway, I wouldn't want to mess up the chemistry of the team the way it's performing. Unless we want to do a swap of prospect if we have some we're losing faith in or if we want an insurance policy in case of injury in goals, I'd stay as is.
Great job so far, lets see if we can keep this pace for the rest of the season and the playoffs. Go 'Nucks!
It truly is! It's been a while since we've seen a pace like this.
Rasmussen could probably come off of PP2 for Wallace. Possibly even Bouillon whenever he finds his way into the lineup for whatever reason.
Arvidsson's contract demands are so ridiculous. Defensemen wanting more is one thing, but a player of his overall and career numbers wanting the equivalency of like $5-6M contract in today's NHL halfway through his rookie season with a 35-some point pace.. Come on. OFDs are the absolute worst for that, and I have no doubt that, if we let him walk, he'd win a Norris in the 2035-38 range. ANYWAYS, I tend to agree when considering any trades. A few names pop out to me but it's hard to consider much with this kind of pace. Maybe a 2nd liner bumps Tippett down to the 3rd? But I can't see anything bigger than that.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it the teams looks extremely solid. Only move I would consider is grabbing a 80 to 78 overall center for depth in case of many forwards injury thats it.

If it was me in this situation, I would do a rental for another deep playoff run and I would trade Tippett and Bouillon for said rental. While Tippett has been great for us, he isn't producing at the same pace that he usually is and we could use a better forward in that spot. As for Bouillon, I don't think he's gonna grow anymore, and I don't really think his presence would be missed on the blue line. In terms of trade targets I'm thinking someone with a good overall (86+) with X-factors and is on the trade block on a bad team. We should also try to find a team who has room for Bouillon so he won't be buried like he is being now.
Thanks Andrew! A rental with Tippett struggling may not be a bad idea! But I don't think we can trade Tippett right now with the contract that he signed with us. If he continues to struggle we can rationalize a move but, assuming he has some form of a NMC, I don't think he'd be keen to leave this squad. That being said, if we were to move a defenseman like Bouillon with picks and/or prospects (namely stagnating ones), I think it'd be enough value to acquire someone like Chytil or Texier on the trade blocks. Personally I wouldn’t touch anything. There’s a couple different interesting trade options, but if it ain’t broke…
As for the defence and goaltending, it’s easier to have an idea who starts and who’s scratched, but not essential. We’re winning, and I don’t really care who starts what game.
Finally, great contract for Lundqvist, and he’s paying it back already.
