- Are you translating words from your native language in your head while you are speaking English? When you do this, you take a long time to speak and your English sounds unnatural because the sentence structure is different! If you want to sound more natural when you speak English, you need to learn how to think in English.
Learning to think in English will make you a more confident English speaker because you will speak more naturally, fluently and with less hesitation.

I would recommend using less ellipsis (These " ... ") when typing. This will make your writing look a lot more natural to a native English speaker. 👍

As a French Canadian, I rarely talk in English but I easily can translate in my head. So I started to practice myself to think in English before going to sleep. Since that time I've Emma in background in my head and what I say in subtitle. Then the morning when I get up I decided to speak in English to an imaginary friend but it became Emma!

Hi, Emma! 🙋♂️ This is really brilliant and useful lesson, even now, in 2020! 😊 Yeah, I used to translate in my mind every time when I tried to say something in English. But recently I'm so obsessed about studying English that I immersed myself into English-speaking environtment right here, on UA-cam. I've even created my own channel where I speak only English, and I make English-speaking vlogs and podcasts. Yeah, my grammar isn't perfect, and I speak really slowly and funny, but in the end of the day - I SPEAK! 😛 I speak and I don't translate in my head now (almost, to be honest). This is hard, but this is very useful also. So, I hope my example can inspire somebody else to stop hesitating and start coomunicating directly in their target language, not neccessary in English itself. Stay safe, my friends! See you! 👏

Thanks Emma! for sharing these tips, they are really helpful, actually most of my English teachers say that we might think in English, but what they don't say is how, but now you hit the nail on the head!
I'm gonna put these tips into practice, that's a given!
I use to think in conversations in my head, I must admit is weird but it really works, another way to improve my English is to talk with my dog in english of course hahaha. there is no a magic formula to learn a language so the only thing we can do is to practice and be persistent. :)
