@19harrier56 I get that you are supposed to land foot first, I triple jump myself, but in comparison to other triple jumers in history Edwards hands down has the best landing in history. Glad you enjoy my video btw B-)
Yes, and I have made this observation in another Edwards clip. But it's not only that he maintains his speed through all three phases, he brings more speed to the takeoff board. Speed and flawless technique.
It took 35 years for the record to go from 17 to 18 metres (1960 - 1995). I think it will be a lot more than 35 years for it to go from 18 metres to 19 metres!
Watch his rhythm compared to anyone else. The whole key to his success is his ability to keep is balance while keeping each phase low. I bet each of his phases keep getting longer instead shorter like most people.
If you click 1:21 on the progress bar repatedly, you'll see Mr. Edwards perfomring a quite interesting scissor jump routine, while the commentator contributes as a 'Finding Nemo' seagull
@19harrier56 haha, actually his world record is one that I hope to contest one day. Physically speaking he doesn't look like an elite jumper, but his ambidexterity and technique really seperated him from the rest of the pack
ok….he lifted weights, but…….was hoping they would have at least shown on form of weight training here for the triple jump that he used…..total bummer.
Trevor Regay I read his book, he was clean 300 lbs and he ran 10.2 100 m speed. He had excellent technique and godly speed and strength. He came to Florida in 96 and jumped 26-6 long jump. Real facts
I watch this every single day of my life. A man who knows he is on the verge of Greatness...
He is a best triple jumper ever and ever❤️
Unreal. One of the greatest feats in sports history

I once held the school record at 11.25m. I had a looong way to go!
lol the response of the crowd. .... they looked reaaaaaal enthusiastic....
Yep! Unlike a race or a jump over a bar, the two sand jumps and the throws take a few moments to see the result - kills it a bit.

Wow no idea they were so athletic. This looked so fast forwarded

anybody know his androgen stack?
@19harrier56 thank you!
His landing is ridiculous, it is like a foot first world class high diver

i jump 12.35m
Such talent coupled with modesty.
So basically it doesn't tell you jack shit about his work out secret.
I wish they'd stop with the psychological - show me the physical aspects of his training - exercises, etc.

2 people never seen a track and field stadium.
I was wondering that I'm a freshman in high school an I'm realitivly short about 5'4" that a 40 ft jump is good or not my pr is 40'8"
reallY?????:D
I doubt Idowu will beat Edwards. His technique does not seem nearly as good.
You're 'avin a laugh son, right?
Hahaha the only one with a chance of breaking Johnathan Edwards record is teddy tamgho
Cahlil Cheavor That's an outdated statement now. I think Pedro Pichardo is ganna get it before Teddy Tamgho if he'll ever get there.
+Sergio van der Meide Or Christian Taylor by the looks of tonight.
Cahlil Cheavor Christian Taylor
Cahlil Cheavor no Christian Taylor is the closest
lmao who would have great ambitions for triple jumping?
