Thanks a lot for the tutorial, this helped me solve a a dual motion sensor setup to open ramps in my CV!.
I would like to point out the great functionality of the OR (which you stated didn't like) vs XOR logic:
    Basically, in XOR:
Both switches are a master switches, you have complete control over the circuit with either switch, but this also has great disadvantages when using a dual motion sensor setup: The moment when you loose the signal the first motion sensor and enter the range of the second motion sensor, doors will recieve a close and open signal, leading to doors/ramps chomping your vessel lol.
This is fixed with the OR circuit:
The first switch you use is the master switch, and overides the second switch. In a dual motion sensor setup, this means that when I enter the 1st motion sensor range, doors/ramps will open and remain open until I move out of range. By the moment I'm out of range of the first motion sensor (exiting my CV) and the 1st sensor shuts down, I enter the range of the second motion sensor, making it the "master switch", so doors/ramps will remain open until I'm at a safe distance from them closing. This setup, of course, requires both motion sensor ranges to overlap.
In the end, which signal you use many times depends on your base design.
    Thanks again!

N AND, always heard it as it's written NAND, one syllable. The N stands for Not, so the result is the inverse of the normal logic gate. ORs are great for areas that are too large for one motion sensor... so all the lights will turn on if you're in any spot in the room, instead of only the lights tied to one specific motion sensor, since lights only accept one signal. (one example) Ors aren't meant to be 3 way switches to work the same way if either contidion is true... like on your keyboard... if you press the 4 above the letters, OR the 4 on the numpad, you still get a 4... so with both on, you're basically hitting both at the same time. However unlike the switches in Empyrion, keyboards have a 'sampling rate' which resets all the keys to off every so often, that's why if you hold the key down, you'll get multiples.
Logic : If input 1 AND input 2 is on, the output is on.
If input 1 OR input 2 is on, output is on.
Another name for the inverter is the Not gate.
Hence my use of ORs, and NOT/Inverters in here. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1405673239
Each floor is too large to be covered by 1 motion sensor, and I have a light that as you go up stairs, and you switch from F1 motion sensors to F2 motions sensors, it stays on, but it does turn off when you step outside. Then when you enter the bedroom, the lights just outside of it turn off, when the lights inside of it turn on... so you don't get that shine through that happens when you're in the room.

Great video!! I have only recently discovered Empyrian and I am hooked. I hope you continue with these types of video s

    I Found this very helpful.
I made chasing lights but the time delay is inaccurate. A 0 and 1 second delay was about 3-5 seconds which is too long as a chaser.
I did make a bunch of lights say Hi when you get close and bye when leaving.

You could add a truth table in the description for all the logic circuits, you cand find them online and they can help those who wants to build more complex logic circuits in the game, we could make a full automated base with the flip of a few switches

Hi CH thanks for the guide.
Not used the logic gates in game yet but I did use them way back when I was in school and I was pretty good with them so I am hoping to do some cool things once I start learning to use them again. (We shall then see if I can live up to the boast lol)
Definitely going to have a set of switches and screens on my bridge to show that doors are shut and lights are off prior to flight. A quick glance checklist type idea.
I have seen some nice automatic entry ramp and door combos so I hope to do that too and add sensors to lights to save power.

It’s not electrical nomenclature, it’s programming nomenclature. N stands for Nought. X stands for exclusive.

This is great! I just bought this game on sale on steam a couple days ago and haven't been able to put it down.
I find the building block hit-boxes to be a bit annoying... Whereby if I build a wall, it takes up the whole block, so I can't build anything against the wall. I'm assuming I am not getting something because there must be a way to do it. Plus the fact that even little objects (like lights) require their own huge hit-box. Kind of annoying.
Anyways... First time on your channel, but new subber. Love to see some more stuff on empyrion as I explore this game further.
    Thanks!

Dave Cruickshank there is a rotate button. I cant recall at the moment. (Not sitting at thr pc at the moment)To be able to put the lights flush with the adjacent block. Check out some of my intro videos for empyrion has a few details on building. Will be posting new vids soon.

Dave Cruickshank oh i think i misunderstood you at first. Yea lights requireing a whole block soace is quite annoying. There a different configurations with blocks but best of luck finding good placements. Hope they update it!!!!😀😀

Cannibal Haire yes. I think (if I'm not mistaken) Space Engineers solved the building block hit-box problem.
Overall, the game is great. Especially for an Alpha build. Very very detailed and quite complete. Lots to do... At least in the early game. I haven't yet progressed to HV or SV's.

    • @HobbsTNV
      @HobbsTNV 7 років тому

Dave Cruickshank the game has a 1 item per block deal. Space engineers is the same.
You can put something against 1 side of a wall but not the other as the wall is along 1 edge of a block. If I build a house I use full blocks to avoid this issue. Unless I need the walk space .
It can be frustrating, especially when trying to do as much as possible in a compact space but it's a superb game despite this.

    • @crooker2
      @crooker2 7 років тому

I thought Space Engineers broke this limitation by allowing certain blocks inside certain other blocks. Anyways, it's not a huge deal, but when you're building with blocks so large, it does become cumbersome to have to build with full blocks instead of half or 'wall' blocks, especially for interiors.
Anyways. Not a complaint. But I hope they overcome this limitation someday.

set reset latch, is that just a flipflop? and the delay, I wonder if that is acting as a capacitor. hmm if it is that means we could do some interesting things

great vid made it alot easier but please tell me whats the point of having 2,3 and 4 switches to turn on a light lol who the hell want 8 switch puzzle to open a door or something when you can add a passcode, this is not a rant i generally would like to know WHAT this would be for?? i was trying to learn and was overwhelm by all these options when they all seem pointless lol

For ex 4xOR gate for any of four perimeter sensors set off an alarm or main light. Or if all four solar caps are off then an aux gen turns on (use fuel only when no solar). XOR for 'three-way switch' which user can turn on or off from two places. Use your imagination.

All I want to do is have a swithc open some shutters. The basic stuff and teh way its setout is confusing me. You have two switches to do stuff. basic would one switch surely?

I love...."When enabling hte second switch it will not do nothing" ...A typo and double negative in one line. Got to love this. And what's with everyone jerking the mouse around in some kind of dance move, have no control? Viewers need to see smooth camera, not neck jerking.
