amazing how governments are keeping corporations in check. Its almost like that is their job or something
But Apple will win, I can just feel it. Too many holes for them to build narratives.
I missed the part of the constitution that says it's the government's job to keep corporations in check.
It’s not their job. It’s the consumers job. The governments job is solely to protect natural rights.
@@snaeshaads8203what will “their” justice be? They wont care
The government's actually doing a pretty terrible job with that one lately. I'm shocked that they're actually doing this one
Personally, I think they should be fighting for right to repair too. The amount of restriction that comes with replacing a battery or putting in a new screen if you don’t go through one of their Apple-authorized repair shops is insane.
*also even if you do use authorized repair shops
Louis Rossmann fans, anyone?

Right here lol @@MichaelDustter
You dont get it. Having unique hardware serial numbers that have to be paired or your fingerprint sensor and cam won't work is for security reasons!
Its to secure more money for apple. You spend 1000$ + on that phone already, pay some more. You insecure little biscuit... You need that blue chat bubble and you will sink more money into repairing your apple instead of buying a capable phone that makes green bubbles for the same price.
100% sure Apple will make Android compatibility and then say it was their decision because they want to support that. Playing PR out like they are the good guys.
They’ve already started by announcing RCS compatibility.
As I had already mentioned in my other comments here, I personally believe that monopolization is the result of loss of consumer rights, including right-to-repair, as well as the result of closed-source software. I wish Big Tech could be stopped by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in these United States of America, and by forcing Apple, Google, Microsoft, and other corporations to open-source all of their code, I believe that monopolization could be stopped successfully. This is the same reason why I am considering System76 for my next PC.
Just like Starbucks promoting hiring veteran wives and veterans
A woman on Tinder once started a conversation by making sure I was an Iphone user. I told her 'no, but I can get one just to talk to you, I have one phone for each of my girlfriends anyway'. The joke strangely didn't land, don't know why.

Absolutely this is way worse than the Microsoft antitrust case, and I've been amazed for many years now that the FTC has just been blatantly ignoring monopolistic behaviours and practices. This is ridiculously overdue, and heads should have rolled within the US gov for lack of action. They've made this way harder for themselves waiting so long.
Well, the FTC was defunded for some time
My boy Tim Cook must've pissed off someone up the chain.
No doubt that there are people inside the government getting "benefits" from apple
it’s because they’re being lobbied (bribed)
@@skop3609 Also, the government benefits massively from the mass surveillance from these corporations. This just wasn't the case for Microsoft in the 90s.
Apple being so locked down is why i switched back to android. And if someone doesn't like me because i'm on a better cheaper phone from any company that isn't apple then they aren't worth knowing.
Yeah like wtf, imagine marrying someone like that "oh no, you got fired, we're breaking up"
Absolutely!
And that’s the solution! People have the choice to leave the walled garden 😮 Shocking, i know… it’s not the government’s job to make sure the garden is not walled. Otherwise the government should offer alternatives to paying taxes, for example to other public service providers beside their own. I should have the right to choose which TSA agency searches me at the airport, or which DMV alternative agency issues my license.
And I am currently in the struggle to switch to Linux. The only portion of my current experience I will feel like I miss on is simply GarageBand/Logic Pro from Apple. Someday I may even want to switch to Signal.
@@Haise-san that happens quite often. Gold diggers are everywhere.
I now know why Apple didn't go ahead with the Apple Car. Someone must have told them that they can't force owners to use Apple only manufactured roads
Ah the good old car joke. If Microsoft built cars they would run on any street but break down constantly. If "linux" (I know linux isn't a single entity) the car would work not break down, but not be able to use every road/have trouble doing it. And apple cars would only run on one street built by apple

I used to flip-flop between Android/Apple flagship when I used to upgrade my phones. I completely swore off Apple devices in High-School after getting into more casual reading and went to take my books that I purchased and paid FULL PRICE for from my Apple device and move them onto my new android, only to figure out that they were DRM locked to Apple devices. Why did I pay you full price to not own my own the book? why are you charging me MSRP to force me to stay in your walled garden. That singular issue opened my eyes to just how predatory a lot of these companies are and turned me into a full-on pirate and made me so much more cognoscente of my overall online purchasing habits. Ill go buy the paperback in-store and then torrent it to bring it onto my kindle/phone for reading on the go. Thanks Apple for opening my eyes at such a young age.
You were young and dumb😊
This DRM problem isn't just in apple. Although other book services like googles or amazons are more open and you can read them in more devices.
That's not on Apple. If Android wanted you to have those books, they would. It works on an Apple device, why is it Apple's fault if it doesnt work on an Android device?
@@akg_tableWhen you buy a book on the store you are buying an ePub - this is the most standard format for an electronic book you can purchase. You can import your own ePubs onto an iPhone and they work just fine , you just cannot take the ePubs that you purchased off of the platform because they are DRM locked. It has nothing to do with the format or it "working" on x y z platform and if apple let me move them off my apply ID android would happily let me "have those books" on my other device, as again, it's the MOST STANDARD format for online books that there is. It is 100% on Apple when they apply a DRM to your digital asset. In my younger ignorance I was under the impression they acted as a host for just buying online books that you would own - I figured out I was wrong as stated in my OP. That is why I don't by books online anymore. I will buy the paperback so the author gets their cut and then torrent it in .ePub and .awz so I can have native kindle and general ePub formats for my mobile reading.
@@xrafterYes that is why I said "That singular issue opened my eyes to just how predatory a lot of these companies are and turned me into a full-on pirate and made me so much more cognoscente of my overall online purchasing habits" and " Ill go buy the paperback in-store and then torrent it to bring it onto my kindle/phone for reading on the go".
What did apple to do upset the US and EU overlords? Something must have happened, did they somehow refuse to give some spying data or similar? They had to do something, this doesnt normally happen if they cooperate and have good relations with agencies.
Apple wouldn't refuse that, they've already been doing that.
Yes. They have a long history of not allowing feds unfettered access to peoples' phones. And just implemented post quantum encryption into iMessage for more security. Apple's based tbh. Wish open source dorks weren't so blind with hatred that they can't see it, but it's true.
Yep. They have a long history of not allowing glowies access to peoples' phones, and glowies hate them because of it. Notice how this is happening right after Apple announces post quantum encryption coming to iMessage.

government actually exists to regulate, fun fact. I know the US can make it seem like its just an extension of business, but that's not generally the case.
By you saying 'the argument against Microsoft sounded pretty weak to me' and 'nothing prevented you from using a different browser', I can clearly tell you either were not around back in the day or you were not paying attention. Internet Explorer was monopolizing the business and education internet by using all kinds of proprietary extensions to the HTML standard together with software such as ActiveX and Moonlight, other browsers were not allowed to use. This strategy is called 'embrace, extend, extinguish'; there are articles on it.
This made the situation both hell for developers and consumers. Developers could not ignore Internet Explorer because of the big market-share and thus needed to develop for that browser. But if customers wanted to use a different browser, then developers were forced to develop the software again in an entirely different way or to say to no consumers. Students or employees who needed to use a certain web-page could not simply say 'I want to use a different browser than IE to visit that webpage' when the webpage would just refuse to offer service/functionalities.

Linux is great I agree! I’m saving up for a pinephone pro so I can have Mobile Linux
As the DoJ themselves say:
'Apple co-founder Steve Jobs criticized Microsoft’s monopoly and “dirty tactics” in operating systems to target Apple, which prompted the company “to go to the Department of Justice” in hopes of getting Microsoft “to play fair.”
But even at that time, Apple did not face the same types of restrictions it imposes on third parties today; Apple users could use their iPod with a Windows computer, and Microsoft did not charge Apple a 30 percent fee for each song downloaded from Apple’s iTunes store.'
Even apple complained about microsoft's unfair monopoly power, even though the unfair monopolies they faced were nowhere as bad as the ones they are imposing now. That is.... kind of ironic..

Government almost never makes anything better, and in situations like this they are only going after them out of greed, not justice
Exactly. I see alot of people very happy with their apple products, and a lot of people trying to convince them they are in fact nót happy lol
You see when apple does these things and gets away with it, other companies copy them, and then there won't be any proper alternative anymore, even for those who refused to buy apple products. So cracking down on these things now is good.
And they've also made it hard to leave their ecosystem without losing some data
@@Problemsolver434who copied apple on that?
It wasn't about not being able to install an alternative to ie on windows. IE supported completely broken and nonstandard html, and MS Frontpage produced websites that only worked in IE. Using a browser other than IE wasn't even an option unless you didn't care about it just not working on maybe 30% of websites. This affected even people who didn't use windows. Back then I used opera and Linux and it sucked so bad that the entire web was written in IE tag soup that only sometimes worked on other browsers.
That's also one of the reasons why IE was "supported" for so long, even after it's popularity tanked with raise of Firefox and chromium based browsers. Hell, even after it was fully replaced by Edge.
One of the biggest clients of Microsoft are corporations and government offices, and those tend to run on software written even 20 years ago. As a result still a significant parts of early WebApps (like CCTV control app in my previous job) are in IE-only compatible swamp-software zone.

I mean c'mon man, as much as I hate Apple they do have a good reason to not hire you. If you applied for a McDonalds job and told them you love eating Burger King, why would they hire you?
@@user-og6hl6lv7p really bad and weird example
@@user-og6hl6lv7p I don't think that's a fair comparison. Tech is pretty different from McDonald's and Burger King. As an IT professional, being well-versed in multiple operating systems is actually an asset. It allows you to better understand and assist a wider range of users. The goal is to provide the best possible customer service and technical support. When I applied to the Apple Store, I had years of experience with Apple ecosystem and a deep understanding of the platform. The fact that I was using an Android phone at the time doesn't negate that knowledge or my ability to support iPhone users.
I think a candidate's skills, experience, and enthusiasm for the role should carry more weight than their personal device choices. Judging someone's fit solely based on the current phone in their pocket seems as absurd as a GameStop refusing to hire a gamer because they play on PC instead of Xbox. It's shortsighted.
Not every Apple store does this though. It depends on who is doing the hiring.
What's going on with Apple lately? All of these legal issues or problems with Apple have happened just in the past month.
First they get fined by the EU for €2 billion, then the US DOJ is suing them for the way they block 3rd-party app stores and payment processors on mobile devices, then I find out this week that my M1 Macbook has a side-chain vulnerability that allows it to get hacked if someone physical has possession of it, and then, the other night, I get the "Black Screen of Death" on my iPhone when I attempt to update to iOS v17.4 after reading about how important it is for "security" (I was able to fix it, eventually, by restoring the iPhone from a backup on my Mac).
Is this all coincidence, and Apple is just having a string of bad luck lately, or is something going on?

I'm still amazed Apple didn't get wiped out by Samsung the way IBM PC got wiped out by generics PCs. A modern smartphone can do just about anything imaginable, I don't think there is any room for innovation that is important.
Actually the smartphone industry is a duopoly. Samsung benefits a lot from Apple's success. They make their displays. Other areas they collaborate as well. Google make deals with Apple too. So the industry is stagnant mainly because they system is rigged by the big companies and its long overdue that something is done about that.

I think there are far too many people who attach their identity to a brand and try to protect that brand as if it were their complete integrity.
The only people affected by this are investors. That's it. AKA people that don't work for their money anyway. And the only further people that get triggered by this are people that invested a lot into the ecosystem and political weirdos that think that keeping companies in check somehow steps over their rights
@@vhateg By all means, investors who multiply their wealth by trading, so "traders" - Yeah, screw them. They don't really add anything to the world (I'm to some extent one of these guys but let's skip over that topic).
The type of investors who invest their wealth into companies who are in need of finance and that are promising to bring something to the world that's ultimately useful to consumers - These people are sadly much needed in our economy now.
There's too much competition to do your own branding, unless you're lucky and are already well known, which generally takes years to get to and is too slow.

How refreshing that someone still has the integrity to actually add in an [expletive] rather than tiptoe around every "potentially offensive" phrasing.
"The cult of Apple" aka people who like the taste of shit.
I can't believe the apple vision pro comes with the lightning port and cable to charge/power it. Thats just taking the psss.
Always laughed about the coloured bubbles, never understood why anyone would turn on the option to send all text via Apple servers when they already going through the local 4G network, so even when I owned an iPhone my bubbles where still green.
In saying that, I've noticed since moving to larger city that alot of my text messages that should queue up while device is off or network trouble never arrive which was never an issue when I lived in a blackspot, so speculating I can only assume it's caused by either something modern smart phones are doing, cell provider service quality has gotten worse which I doubt or people attempting to interfere with networks is causing the queue never to arrive
Either way, it's frustrating and I'd be interested if anyone knows the actual reason for the inconsistency in sms / call deliveries that in the past seemed to be quite seemless.
Front Page Tech made an absolutely idiotic video about how the lawsuit was moot, and how Apple is not monopolistic. Thank you for essentially debunking him without even trying to do so.

Why do people use iPhones?
style and simplicity. It's perfect for boomers, art students, soccer moms, and parents who want to make it slightly more annoying for their kids to see crazier things on their phones (still not hard, but at least Apple gives that feeling of being safer than android to casuals).
@@SconnerStudiosI’m an art student and I don’t use apple shit but I do understand what you mean.
Talk about the xz backdoor that was recently fixed by one guy that was curious because of a 500 ms of delay when ssh
was this shenanigans post-Jobs or was he all the way into it also? I have this basic narrative in my head that he was one of the good guys and that since he departed it all went to shit, but I am not holding on too tightly to it.
I don't like Apple - largely due to the guard rails around everything, but I don't see how this suit makes any sense.
After seeing the Disney x Fox and ABK x Microsoft deals get the green light, it's hard for me to believe that the government regulates in good faith at all.
H00ked nose weasel wants side loading making apple way easier to hack. They want apple to put ports for plug in devices also making them easier to hack. This has nothing to do with helping the consumer. But we have idiots her saying oh android is better I can do more with a android
1:55 Average American geography knowledge moment.
The EU is not a country, it's a regional international organisation of 27 countries.
ok nerd, then just assume he means borders of the region???
I don't know if it is only my problem, but now if you open a word, PowerPoint, etc. document form Teams it opens up using edge even if I set Firefox as the default browser.
the windows 10 debloat script from github can disable that, think there's an equivalent script for windows 11 as well
I've been an android user for as long as I can remember, and only switched to an iphone because of years-long pressure from family and friends (and family verizon contract), but there really is an argument that people prefer being in the "walled garden;" they *enjoy* being sheep, so let them. If they cared enough about customization and open-source they would've had an android, but regular people (and remember, we watching this channel are definitely not an average person) just don't care and want a "phone that works." Also having the government involved in anything this big is always somewhat fishy and most definitely not motivated by any sense of justice.
American government : Huawei Ban activated
Also American government : Sue Apple
American government : *Trust No One*
tbh the american government is crazy outta control rn its scary asf

It's always sad news when youtube tries to not recommend me Outlaw's channel, funny enough, gotta change to Odyssey.
Never owned a Crapple product and proud I never will.
iToddlers, how we getting out of this one?
🤣🤣🤣
Apple phones really are more secure because they restrict the ability to do anything consequential. I think its a great phone for the old and non tech savvy crowd. Some people really need a dumb smartphone not to hurt themselves. They do have good design and software but their prices are completely ridiculous.
What's going on with the XZ backdoor Linux thing?
I've been arguing with people for years that Android phones are better than IPhones. And all I can say, you know you ware right when whole nation sues Apple
That is complete bullshit. A android isn't any better than a iPhone. Name what is better and I guarantee even is going to be some gimmick feature android has. What h00ked n0se government is doing is trying to open up apple to receive more malware for easy hacking no more closed doors says weasel government
The problem with Android is you need to know what to buy and unfortunately most people choose shit because it's cheap which leads to the perception that all Android phones suck
I hate the idea of a government giving a corporation the dignity of a lawsuit. Even more insulting is the ability to appeal it. That's stuff for people. Corporations are not people and are not the democratically-chosen representatives of them either. Corporations should not be able to sue governments and governments should just say "We don't like what you're doing, so we're issuing you a hundred-gigabuck fine. You have seven days to pay or your management gets ten years in prison. Do it again and you'll be shut down outright. Don't like it? Tough. We represent the public, you don't. Now get marching down to the bank. You've got a fine to pay."
That’s how it works in China, which is why they’re beating the west in everything. Democracy and capitalism are self defeating systems
Yeah but that would open doors for even worse corruption across the board. Imagine then how the megacorps would lobby (bribe) the shit out of the government so that they start going around and killing smaller competitor businesses with these arbitrary fines.
The notion that the government represents the public is laughable at best. Due process rights still apply to groups of individuals, which is what a corporation is. A corporation is simply a legal entity that functions in many cases as a person under the law in lieu of its owners. It can own property and can sue and be sued. Apple is publicly traded which means that its board of directors is, in fact, democratically elected by the shareholders.
Policies like the ones you're proposing are essentially identical to the ones Venezuela and Zimbabwe imposed that caused their entire economy to collapse.
Apple should be regulated, but no, a different color text message bubble is no reason for the US to adopt communism.

Right. I'm done with you. I have no time for people who think the Cold War never ended.
U clearly have no idea what u are talking about
6:30 that's a simplistic take on the ie saga. Iirc There were other issues like website compatibility and the fact that ie was so deeply integrated into windows certain OS functionality was dependent on ie and it could not be removed.
I am the opposite. I won't date people that don't use GrapheneOS. In fact, I just don't go on dates.
itoddlers in shambles
You shoud always use an android on your first date to filter out the gold diggers.
I still have the Info Wars app icon on my iPhone.
Hm at least in Signal the quality of videos from a buddy of mine that uses Apple (I have Android) is normal, or is that low quality thing band in the EU (where we live)
I think there’s a little twinge of misinformation, or rather, ‘a miss of the point’ here. Apple doesn’t necessarily “force” the worse quality and experience you get with SMS/MMS, it’s actually just the way that service has always been. The thing that we should be criticizing them for is not adopting new technologies like RCS to make texting with non-iPhones much more modern, usable and secure.
To say they purposefully degrade the quality of texting with Androids just isn’t true, that’s actually just the default quality of SMS and they don’t change anything about it.
Nah, they're amoral human filth actively trying to make the completion look bad. RCS is an international standard.
