It's not as hard as it once was. When I first moved up here from Cali in 99. I asked what is the worst neighborhood in the area. Everyone said it was Hilltop. So of course, we rolled through. It wasn't nothing during the day, so we rolled back through on the weekend around 1am. All I saw was folks shakin rocks on the corner. Nothing to worry about. Yeah im sure there are areas that are shady, but I wasn't impressed. Everyone says it was crazy back in the 80s, and early 90s, when all the Cali Crips were up here. You should look into the story about the Crips and Ft Lewis Army Rangers that had a shoot out up there. I've always been about to each their own. If your down, your down. Live your life, the way you feel fit.
@jaysonseraile yeah I got a few of my boys that was up there in them days. They said its pretty weak in comparison in today's Hilltop. But change is all around. Properties being snatched up and torn down. New neighborhoods being built daily
I met some black dudes from Tacoma out here in Phoenix and they were really good Kool dudes. One was a rapper the other was a co-worker of mine. Shout out to Tacoma from Phoenix Arizona

My dad is white and I promise you in the 80s-90s cops wouldn't even come up through the hill. Shit... he said white people weren't allowed up there either. The east side is what's really bad right now. All of those comparing Tacoma to LA don't understand the history of Washington. I work with an old head that's lived in east side since the 70s and he was telling me stories and was almost tearing up and said it really was hard and he's sad because he had to sell his house to provide a better life for his kids because the east side is so bad right now. He said he never wanted to leave Tacoma. It's a small city and per capita, is more dangerous than LA. Yeah you can drive through the hill and or drive through the east side and be fine. Not like you're going to be shot up in broad daylight. You mind your own business you're fine. If somebody really wants to get you in Tacoma they're going to do it though. Play around with some of those boys and see what's up. It does get active! Trust me, people didn't have a choice back in the day to be affiliated. Nowadays people are doing it for REP. All the spotlight always on Seattle, but everyone from Washington will tell you Tacoma always been on that. Only reason they won't is because they from another hood, but folks from nice areas will tell you Tacoma always been the worst. I grew up at 2301 south L White House on the corner across street from the Hilltop Bar when shit was crazy crazy … people wouldn’t believe how many smokers and hilltops was outside rolling craps and hustling with bullet proof cameras all up and down 23rd wit drive byes happening regularly…. Gangbanging will never be what it was the crack epidemic made it what it was in the hood nowadays gamgbanging is completely different but definitely savage these youngin as don’t hesitate to shoot…. I love my city Tacoma is being overrun on the hilltop with gentrification and it’s sad ….
Yeah back in the 90s.
U remember the hilltop crip/army ranger shootout on 25th n Sheridan back in 1989? I grew up on S Melrose which was about a half a mile from there at the bottom of the 15th st hill.
All the hoods in every city across America are being or have been gentrified smh shyt sad

Hilltop ain't nothing like it use to be 20-30 yrs ago. However Lakewood on the other hand, if you ain't wearing a vest and packin, you might loose your life. I grew up in L.A and no crip would wear red, and vice versa. 😂

Shit was wild mid 80s till mid 90s
@jaysonseraile yeah I got a few of my boys that was up there in them days. They said its pretty weak in comparison in today's Hilltop. But change is all around. Properties being snatched up and torn down. New neighborhoods being built daily
Cali nyggas was getting whacked up there when they moved from LA they thought Tacoma/Seattle nyggas were sweet

Nice to see a Tacoma tour.
This is so ridiculous. Just a bunch of wannabe gangsters from Hilltop, trying to act all hard. There's no real gangsters in Tacoma anymore. Maybe back in the 80s and 90s there were some real, hardcore gang-bangers, but these guys are some serious chumps.

Yall became Crip from the Watergate Crip, back then yall had 25st NHC and u sayin they N-hood Crip ain't from LA?? Cuz yall young cats needa talk to some people older than u that really know cuz and also I had potnas that basically gave yall the opportunity to do yall own Crip thing when the Cubans was flooding Tacoma and gave your OGs the work cuz, which gave yall the opportunity to stop sellin for the LA homies. Anyway shout out to OG Freeze Hilltop Blood I think he's a pastor now.

I see three lost boys on the side of the street
It's all different. Plus Tacoma is being gentrified at a crazy rate.

All the spotlight always on Seattle, but everyone from Washington will tell you Tacoma always been on that. Only reason they won't is because they from another hood, but folks from nice areas will tell you Tacoma always been the worst. A good general rule is the farther south you go from Seattle, the worse it gets because the housing gets cheaper.
