I find funny how Apple sends the equipment in fancy boxes to the people who rent them. But for people who buy them they just get sent in a cardboard box
Because they don't want you to break there property I thought that was self explanatory
Well duh because Apple doesn’t want it to get broken during shipments the equipment has to go through because it’s rented, and why bother giving the briefcase to the people who bought them only for it to collect dust because 99% of the time the equipment only stays at the shop.
Well you gotta ship it back when it's rented. Probably best to just be able to re-use a nice pelican case that way people aren't trying to ship it back in like paper boxes or other product boxes (i.e. non-double corrugated shipping boxes)
Prolly so they can charge you more if you break it
Better to just ship the wholesale SKU rather than go through the process of encasing each unit

a little heat and a wide pry tool works fine for me. I've done all the new phones with no breaks but I have been doing this since the iPhone 3.

@@hanzzel6086 As someone with a 3d printer, i can not fix this issue. Each pocket is milled from metal and has the heating elements inside of it. If you try use plastic it would melt

It’s an great tool to have. Not terribly intuitive, but works 99% of the time. Thankfully they’ve posted documentation on how to use it.
When using that machine your only supposed to open it a couple mm/ a 3/8 inch at most, then use the display adhesive cutter to cut around and pop the clips, if you every have error codes this can be cause by the heat pocket not making proper contact with the pins.
Just curious… Does it remove cracked screens?

I just use my 3D printer, the heated bed goes up to 100C which is more than enough for almost all phones and can keep a constant temperature for as long as I need it to

It seems like the real juice of the self service repair program is in the tools they sell to you, rather than the parts.
Couldn't the holder things just be sizes? A flat little thing to hold it on each side with a relatively tight spring on it, and a thin layer of heat resistant foam or something to not damage itm

The phone does take a charge and turn on but the screen is stuck white and the selfie camera ribbon cable is torn off.
