Yes you can do it. You need to inform them that you intend to charge them a fee per letter and a fee per visit. I've done that part, now just waiting for the next letters or visits.
You take a massive risk by allowing them in your home. They have been known to falsify evidence. If you get an urge to do that again make sure the entire visit is recorded on multiple cameras.

We hadn’t watch the BBC for more than 2 years, we claimed our money back having unsubscribe to broadband only. We were able to prove when we went broadband only and via our provider the BBC proved we indeed had, we only got £80 back though….

A paltry £150 for months/years of intimidation and harassment aggravated by the intent to steal money from him that they knew he did not owe. And this just one specimen case out of literally millions - all of them criminal offenses. £150 is an absolute insult and a travesty of justice. These people and the BBC executives that hire them belong IN PRISON. It is a serious criminal enterprise! Why is there no police investigation?

This only worked because the man quantified his time in having to deal with all the letters and such. He did not try to cheat the system by charging an excessive rate because if he had done the judge would have probably wrong it out of court. No, the man set a reasonable hourly rate, wrote up an invoice for his time used and sent the invoice off. You will find the invoice was itemised properly for all the different things he was charging for and gave them x amount of days to pay, as you would do with any invoice. When they refused to pay he took them to small claims court which is what you would do for failure to pay an invoice.
If people want to beat the BBC and their licensing practices then that is what you have to do, the same as what this man did. If thousands upon thousands of people did this just think how much the BBC would be losing in failing to pay the invoice. They would soon get the message.

I've been saying things like this for years and people have told me I'm talking rubbish.
I say to estate agents if you don't show for an appointment then I'll charge you, just like they do to us.
Any question I am asked by someone representing a company, I say there is a charge for.
If there is an error on a website, I don't tell them all the details for free, I tell them there is an error and inform them of my consultancy fee for web development.
I told BT once that if they came out to a fault on the line and it was found to be their fault, I would charge them £180, just like they said to me if it was found to be inside the property they would charge me.
Long before the moneysavingexpert became famous for getting back at the bank, I helped a relative charge a bank for an error on their statement. They called the bank up and told them of the error and informed them there would be a charge of £5 for the phone call and a letter would be sent to the manager to which there would also be a charge, of £35. The bank paid.
Contracts and terms and conditions are a two way thing, the contract needs to be fair. We have accepted before now that companies even decide our terms in a contract, they write them down for us, but we don't state ours.
Even if you don't want to buy something, start making enquiries and stating your terms to get them to realize we are making a move to be paid for any time they take up of ours. Book appointments with estate agents for house viewings, for example, and tell them your charges, then just turn up, view the house (or charge them for lateness or a no-show), and say you don't want it.
If everyone starts doing it they wont blacklist anyone from dealing with them in future because that would be blacklisting every customer.

i did similar with the tsb a few years ago, they constantly sent me letters for my brother in law who no longer lived with us, he had told them and filled the forms in for a change of address etc and i had phoned them numerous times when letters arrived for him, eventually i phoned them and after confirming the issue yet again and confirming that all calls were recorded i stated that any further contact made to me or that i had to make to them in response if any more letters arrived then i required paid for my time the same as they required paid for theirs, i stipulated any contact would be £50 per hour or part thereof, and if a call went to 61 minutes then it would be £50 x 2 and so on, the manager laughed at me and said that would never happen, the next month another letter arrived, i got on the phone asked for a manager explained the previous call and requested that the letters stop immediately and that she go and listen to the recorded conversation and agreement they had entered in to by making further contact, again she said no chance on any payment to me ! 3 weeks later i got a check for two contacts i had had to make to them for £100 and a goodwill gesture for another £140 and all contact stopped ! despite me hoping they would then continue, the secret is to state if you contact me again then you are willing to enter in to an agreement with me for my time and accept my fees..................simples really, more should try it :)
