    Most beautiful movie I’ve ever seen and the sound of it is just a masterpiece, it’s so beautiful. I’m changed after watching this, and truly wishing more works like this could be born to this world.

    I will never stop loving them. Portrait made me take up french again (I've already been planning on it for years but haven't been able to til recently, and Portrait really motivated me to), and I come here when something feels hard and I lose motivation. I know it will be worth it to be able to speak french with them whenever I meet them❤️

    A comfort post. It’s 20 years later. Heloise is now a rich widow. She goes to Marianne’s shop in Paris to commission a painting. Their eyes meet. Marianne says, “ you are the same, beautiful.”

    All the looks are really what make this film… they speak for what the characters won’t say out loud.

    Beautiful Beautiful film, maybe the most beautiful film experience I have ever had. So much poetry! in the looking, words, sounds, silence. I believe Sophie knows but is not there to spy or judge. Its so common in films that I expected that. But They all look after each other in a way that feels equal even if she is the maid. Hard to explain. They dont shun her for being of less status and are even there for her. She in turn does not feel any need to judge them. The lines of “do all lovers feel they’re inventing something?” “ being free is being alone?” “ maybe she is the one who said turn around?” “ dont regret, remember” 💔😭. The smile of Adele, the way Noemie places her head so softly on her shoulder. Ughhh 💔. The electricity in Marianne when she sees p.28 captured forever. The rollercoaster Heloise relives with Vivaldi and us watching through Marianne. Celine created music out of sounds, smiles, footsteps, glances, silence, sorority, it took me forever to figure out there was no score. Thanks for posting this as I am always searching for ways to re live and re feel what this film did to me. ❤️

    The position of the subtitles are perfect. I'm a little hard of hearing so I keep subtitles on always and I hate that I cant watch the characters faces and know what's being said. whoever decided putting them as low as possible on the screen was the best option is an idiot.

    • @annabella7285

      Minh Carter sophie, yes. The mother probably still wonders, because maybe it wasn’t a usual thing back then

    • @b52bomber23
      @b52bomber23 4 роки тому +42

      Minh Carter I could see that Sophie knew because they were sleeping in the same bed but definitely not the mother. Remember when Heloise and Marianne were standing next to each other just before the mother came in after Marianne heard noise , got dressed and went to the kitchen and saw the man who came for the painting having breakfast. Afterwards when she told Heloise to get up they are here, the mother came in and after seeing the finished painting was leaving the room. She then told Heloise to come here I have something for you and Heloise responded In a minute. The mother then said now and Heloise left without having a private moment with Marianne to say goodbye. I got the feeling that she didn’t want them to say goodbye alone and did it deliberately. I sensed that she was jealous of the closeness but didn’t know they had become lovers while she was away. The mother I thought was very cold and only was nice because she wanted Heloise to get married not for Heloise benefit but for her own selfish reasons. Back then the mother of the bride benefited from a marriage of the daughter because she was also taken care of. It was like a packaged deal. I just didn’t like her at all. Heloise was going to be stuck in a convent but because her sister killed herself I’m sure due to the impeding marriage, Heloise was destined for the same fate. Remember when Heloise told Marianne on the beach that she didn’t understand her because Marianne had a choice unlike her not to get married but Marianne then said , I understand you !
