    Incredible video ! I have this game and this makes me want to go back and replay it. I think I remember struggling with the motion controls but it’s been a long time. I love that you showed a picture of Dirt to Daytona when mentioning monster games, that alone is enough reason for me to subscribe to your channel. I look forward to seeing what the future holds. I can tell this was an absolute labor of love. Keep up the excellent work!

      Thank you so very much, this comment really means a lot to me. I don't have a ton of experience with Dirt to Daytona admittedly, but I'm definitely going to fix that soon. As far as the motion controls go, yes, they can feel a little wonky at times but I think for the most part the game plays pretty well. If it helps at all, I play with Wii Motion Plus controllers and I use the steering wheel, holding the Wiimote up with the buttons facing my chest. I think the designers did a good job of giving you pretty massive, wide roads to traverse generally speaking, knowing the controls aren't really suited for precision turning and driving. I really appreciate the kind words; I really tried to give this game its due credit! Is there a video you'd recommend I watch of yours?

      @@humblemudgames no problem, this video deserves way more views. I’m pretty biased about NASCAR Dirt to Daytona, since it’s my favorite console NASCAR game. Yeah I’ll try to give excite trucks a go again. My memories of that game and excite bot trick racing kind of blur together. A while back I made a video about 80s overdrive on switch that I thought was pretty good. And of course my most recent video if you like collection videos.

      I started browsing through and I might actually dive into that Quest 64 is Underrated video you made first! I made a joke about Quest 64 in my video that I released right before this one, but I actually do like Quest 64 and think it was over-hated. Interested to watch that one and see your opinions on that! 80s Overdrive looks super interesting too. I personally like Excite Truck more than Excite Bots but I know I'm in the minority there.

    I never played this game, but remember it having a cult following. Excitebike on the NES, however, was my jam. It was a regular Blockbuster rental until I found it super cheap at a flea market. It was the first game I encountered where you could essentially build a level. It blew my mind. Would be nice to see arcade racers return. And maybe even vehicular combat games... By the way, the mall had the Super Hang-on machine. Leaning on the plastic motorcycle was a horrible way to control the game, but still kind of fun. Great video!

    • @humblemudgames
      @humblemudgames  7 місяців тому +1

      You'd probably get a kick out of this -- recently I found out that the 3DS has a port of Super Hang-On, and you can opt to turn the vehicle by tilting the actual 3DS itself! It does a really great job mimicking the arcade experience that way.
      I wish I was better at ExciteBike. I'm not good at that one or ExciteBike 64. I definitely want to revisit those again. Level builders, whether they're in Timesplitters 2 or Halo or Mario Maker, continue to blow my mind. I can't imagine how unreal that must've felt on an NES.

    Great video, I love excite truck, I have lots of fun every time I play it. But I wish you could control the game in a traditional way, the tilt controls are not precise enough for me. This could be achieved with the remote+nunchuck or better yet, GC controller or classic.

    • @humblemudgames
      @humblemudgames  7 місяців тому +1

      Hey, thanks so much for the kind words! Hopefully I'll continue to see you around on here. I really like the controls for the most part, especially if you have the little wheel attachment for the Wii remote, but you're right -- traditional controls would be really nice for a game like this. A big reason I wish we could see a proper sequel or remaster/re-release one day is so that we could hopefully get a version with more traditional controls. I'd love to play this on the Switch.

      I'm so glad I'm not the only one! And I think you're right; a lot of people dismiss the Wii but in actuality, that was a fantastic little system. There are a lot of great Wii titles, you get the backwards compatibility with the GameCube, and WiiWare and Virtual Console were killer back in the day too. I also like the aesthetic and menu designs of the Wii.

    I remember loving this game waaay more than i expected to, it's a huge source of nostalgia for me. Probably my favorite summer in high school involved numerous trips via bike to the lake with my friends followed by many rounds of Castle Keep accompanied by Dragonforce's Fury of the Storm. Setting your own music via SD was so well integrated. I also remember blasting Nightwish on the final track. I love that if you pick a certain song for a certain track more than once, it would assign the song to the track and play it automatically.

    • @humblemudgames
      @humblemudgames  6 місяців тому +1

      This is an awesome story! DragonForce was all the rage around this time, too; it wasn't too much longer after the release of Excite Truck that Guitar Hero 3 came out and Through the Fire and Flames gained mainstream notoriety. That board game sounds really cool too, I'll have to check it out. It sounds like we shared some similar memories of that time growing up. I've never thought to play ultra heavy stuff with Excite Truck, I'll have to try that game again sometime with metal and see how fun it is.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe you need to reference sources for clips under fair use / fair dealing.
    Giving credit doesn't protect you against anything anyway. I understand if you're doing it out of respect for other UA-camrs-totally get that-but when there are so many clips with source names popping up, it kinda gets in the way.
    Great video by the way, I'm looking forward to playing my copy for the first time even more after hearing you explain why it's so fun. I'm always up for something so silly that it transcends ridiculous and becomes enjoyable.

    • @humblemudgames
      @humblemudgames  7 місяців тому

      I totally understand and appreciate that feedback! This video didn't release first but was actually the first video I ever made, and back then I was a little paranoid about where to credit and where not to credit. I believe you're right about fair use. You probably won't see these kinds of annotations as often in future videos, especially if I'm using trailer footage or something readily available like that.
      Thank you for the kind words about the video! Excite Truck really is something special and everyone that has played it seems to agree with me!

    • @nostalgigamer
      @nostalgigamer 7 місяців тому +1

      The annos (see how cool I am?) are fine when you're adding extra context as long as they're worth it. There were some interesting facts in there. It's just the credits.
      I had no idea there was so much to this game. I've just watched more of this video and I love how it's not as much of a mindless racer as I first thought: Smaller vehicles are worth it in some cases, watching out for others boosting behind you, etc.

    • @humblemudgames
      @humblemudgames  7 місяців тому

      @@nostalgigamer I just want to make sure I'm giving credit where credit is due, since it saves me a lot of time getting their footage instead of obtaining it myself. Most of everything I do is my own footage though.
      But yeah, there's a lot of little micro-thought processes that this game will make you go through while you're playing. It's sort of reminiscent of a fighting game like Street Fighter or something like Doom Eternal in that sense, actually.

    This is a game I've seen the cover for a few times, but I never got around to checking it out. This video definitely got me interested in trying it out. It's crazy to think that Monster Games made this, as it's very different from their previous and current work. Part of me wonders how much this game was influenced Motorstorm because that overheating boost mechanic is shared between them.

    • @humblemudgames
      @humblemudgames  7 місяців тому

      I'm so glad to hear that this video got you interested in trying out the game! It may take a second to get used to the motion controls (I feel like it plays better with the wheel add-on). I think that the partnership between Nintendo and Monster was really unique, and this very unique game came of that! I'll have to check out Motorstorm. That's a name I'm definitely familiar with but I don't think I've played it before.
