Good overview of basic techniques. I might add тушкувати ( to simmer ) to this list.
My “Traditional Ukrainian Cookery” book arrived. So many choices. And my three baby persimmon trees also arrived.
Then, Wednesday night I came down with Covid. For 36 hours, I was the sickest in my entire life. I’m better now, but quarantined at home for five days.

Simmer is a good one to add! Somehow it didn’t come to mind when I was filming 😅 interesting, the translation seems to be same as for sautéing.

My paper Ukrainian dictionary gives an explanation for simmer rather than a single word translation: кипіти на повільному вогні. I know the Polish word is dusić. I’m feeling better each day.

I think it’s correct that both are тушкувати. I wonder if there is a fancier word for sautéing in Ukrainian
Thanks for another lesson. "Ya looblu" these short digestible segments. Is the Ukrainian word for like/love interchangeable? Meaning, does it simply depend on the context in which it's used?
I would say that you can use “I love” (ya lyublyu) and “I like” (meni podobayetsya) interchangeably. I think the “distance” is shorter between these to phrases in Ukrainian as compared to English, so I’d agree that context should bring more clarity. But also, remember that romantic love is я кохаю (ya kohayu)
Pronunciation is very hard... И, І .. Г, Х sound very similar. And all consonant clusters ending with ь are hard as well.. 😭
