happy pride/wrath month!!! this ones been sitting in the ol' noggin for... a few years now lol, feels great to finally have attempted and finished this!
more or less self explanatory, this is based on the scene in the third book of sashas manga that russetfur brings her and her kits a mouse to eat and they say farewell to each other
All proceeds made from this video will be donated to organizations supporting black LGBT+ communities. I'll put up screenshot/s on my twitter once I am able to do so.

I know right, this ship is too underrated!
I loved Russetfur as a kid because she was so tough and grumpy, and never showed any weakness. Later on, Yellowfang's Secret revealed her origins, and Sasha's mangas showed an unexpected compassionate side to her character that I never imagined she'd have. With that context, as an adult (and a lesbian myself) I can easily read Russetfur as being in love with Sasha. They have so much in common - naive former kittypets thrust into the harsh world of the Clans, trying to cope the best that they can. Even though Russetfur was harsh and stoic in the main series, I can picture her seeing Sasha's vulnerability and wanting to protect her, and to spare her from having to develop that same tough front that she did. I think that if the two had more chances to talk, they'd really understand one another and find solace in each other.
Sorry for the long comment, lol. I'm just a nostalgic butch lesbian who gets serious feels from this PMV. Mudshadow, you've made a beautiful video that I keep coming back to. Thank you!

Honestly, I felt the same way about Sasha's and Russetfur's interaction as well. It could be because I'm also a lesbian and can see/understand that same situation of liking a girl, but not knowing if they feel the same way about me or not. Because on one hand I don't want to lose my friendship with them, and I'm afraid of revealing my feelings if they don't reciprocate it which will hurt my heart more. Though on the other hand my heart desperately wants to find someone who I love with all of my heart romantically, who also feels the same way about me. Someone I can share my life with, and be there for. Anyways that's also why I ship Tallstar x Jake, Leafpool x Mothwing, Hollyleaf x Cinderheart, and more! XD

I'm a little glad for that actually. She most likely would've just been another Mistystar. Not personality wise, but I mean, the book CLAIMS she was rather old when she died but isn't Blackstar the same age as her, if not then older?

Russetfur was a lot older than Blackstar as far as I remember, being a warrior when Blackstar was a kit

I can't stop rewatching this--I love how their actions are coordinated to the beat/music, especially Russet's head tilt as he notices Sasha in the beginning.

haven't read warriors in a decade but as a kid russet was my favorite she was just a minor character but i was obsessed for some reason with her and sasha 💕 this video is therapeutic
i know this video's like two years old. but its been such a classic and i come back to it so often. it introduced me to this artist, and i remember sending this song and pmv to my friend rose and telling them how much it reminded me of them. they were a closeted lesbian and sometimes i watch this video to grieve their passing. its so beautiful. tearjerker forever.
