Bike sounds great man. I had a 400ex with a dg full exhaust and it sounded good. I sold that an now have a ltr 450 with a big gun evo r full system. The thing is a beast
Fmf on my ktm 125sx. Was out riding and layed it down. Ate mud it was fuckin great. So happy winter is almost over. You guys ride more in the summer or winter? I didnt ride much this winter due to the fact I'm no good at riding 2 wheels in the snow.
The welded shift lever reminds me of the time I bought my 250r and the hubs were welded into the axle, then the rims welded to the hubs. It was a mess lol keep up the good content lol
Dont get me wrong, putting a pipe on is one of my favorite mods, but something about a stock exhaust, especially on a 400ex is very satisfying. Have run many brands over the last 20 years but have come to love Dasa and Monster for my bikes.

I bought a 400EX new in the fall of 98. Loved it. I used the FMF Megamax. Been looking around for one again.
the old 400 is coming along pretty good . i like seeing this bike get fixed up and saved

I have the FMF Q4 on my predator 500. Good sound once you start ripping on it. I took a torch to the tip and gave it some really cool color. Please keep the awesome content coming

Owned a yellow 2001 400ex for 10 years and has the same exact mods done! The header was the stock on min and never felt I needed to replace. Compared to my cousins non ported, advanced timed 400ex with full exhaust mine felt more powerful and crisper throttle response. Keep up the great work man!
I had a red 2001 !!! Bought it new and I wish I had it now!!!! Wish I still had my 1996 300ex too! I raced Gncc with both and u just can’t beat the reliability

U should port the head pipe if I remember correctly the weld on the inside is thick

I had one of these with a fmf powerbomb header and a hmf slip on..red to match of course lol. Jetted it right and it was a nice improvement. It sounded mean af to.
Currently working on a no spark issue with my new to me 97 Polaris Xplorer 500, these videos keep me motivated to get it going!

I have 2 400ex and both have FMF and ABSOLUTELY They make a difference. You also have MUCH better communication with the machine by hearing what the motor is doing thus giving you better feedback to ride. The stock mufflers are Insane restrictive.

Definitely change the sound of it for the better! Definitely a deeper tone and to me makes the motor sound like it has been bored and stroked!
I have an xr 650l that's built up pretty good.i run a big gun exhaust on it.you can do a little grind work on the stock header,and get it to flow a lot better.grind down the weld on the inside of the flange where it mounts to the cylinder head,and it wl flow much better.
I put a lexx slip on my 400ex beater it was cheap and actually sounds really good. I don’t think u gain anything power wise but they def sound cooler.
Sometimes removing the spark arrestor or end cap from the oem exhaust changes the sound and might even free up some flow

I'm surprised you're not using a dB meter and an audio spectrum analyzer for your exhaust sound comparisons. Must be a phone app for that.
You should try an ALBA RACING exhaust thats what my brother has and it sounds great
It’s a fact that adding that slip on alone will add 3-4 hp on its own (as long as your jetting is right). Mike jet the carb up one or 2 sizes, you don’t wanna run it too lean
