I've never understood this drop in popularity of concerts... There are those who disdain it, saying it is neither one thing nor the other. But that's precisely why I think they are the best choice in most cases!

Love a concert, have 2,, Pono MGCD and a Anuenue UC10.When I had an incident and couldn’t quite stretch my fingers on certain 5 to 10th fret spacing, the concert size really helped me carry on playing. Their size for just picking up and practicing are great. I love the Millar and especially the Mango one sounded so nice. Great Demos Alex, thanks for highlighting so many. Have a great week.

I started out on tenors. After buying a Millar long neck soprano, it became clear that the concert scale has plenty to offer as well. So now I’m adding another concert to our collection and diversifying more. They are great!
Thanks for such a varied sampling of some great ukes!! Loving the Millard and the Clara (that is a dream Uke for sure)! (Tara)

I do think that Concert is a really nice ukulele size, it as the sound of the sopranos but with the playability of the longer scale (as long neck soprano). In the end, they are much punchier than tenors which is an integral part of the uke sounds fore me.
Thanks a lot for the video !
Just one a side note, it is not really important, but I think that the Millar TK-240W has East Indian rosewood back & side rather than Bolivian rosewood or pau ferro. I think they also have a model that looks really close to it - CD-240W ? - which is cedar toped and have Bolivian rosewood with more or less the same appointment, so it is really hard to tell them apart :).

I have owned probably 15+ tenors over the years but only one concert which I quickly sold. Maybe time for another? I like the look and sound of the Anuenue. Not too expensive either.

Is it that the concert does not sound deep enough for what people want today. I remember coming into Sus for a new concert Uke and not being able to find the sound I wanted until I was shown and played a Tiny Tenor. Just the sound I wanted. I now have a low G on my concert which does give a much better deeper sound. Perhaps you could do a review on concerts with low G. Would love to hear the Snail with low G.

I love my concert ukuleles. The Blackbird Clara is #1 on my wishlist. Will you please elaborate on why you recommend keeping it low G? Thank you, Alex.

Because the shape and way it resonates against you is accentuated by the lower octave being present. It showcases its strengths in my opinion.
It's still great in high G but not instantly as special.
      Just my thoughts

15:51 Thanks for all the great videos Alex, you seem really impressed with the MG-240. In your opinion is it a better buy than the Snail?
Would also appreciate your thoughts on the Snail fitted with Worth Browns?

The Snail definitely sounds optimised with Worth Browns. I personally think the build quality on the Millar is noticeably better. I love that Snail but it isn't my favourite sounding uke for the money or the best feeling... the Millar edges it

We do not have a Clara and Blackbirds factory recently burnt down so it will be a long time before more are made.

I'm looking for an Anuenue UC-10, but they're not in stock anywhere in the USA. I found one place that has some, and they're overcharging for them.

Hi Alex, again a great video with wonderful instruments. Once I had a UMA in my hand in a local store next to me and found it extremely heavy - I know this is subjective but perhaps you'd like to mention weight in future videos. The Clara Blackbird is a wonderful sounding instrument but above my price.
    Two questions:
How would you compare the Millar Mango against Koaloha RP Mango?
I own the Millar TK 240 - which set of strings would you recommend. I'm not quite happy with the feel of the original strings.
Thank you and Greetings from Germany

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  Рік тому +1

The KoAloha is snappier. They feel tighter and more percussive than Millars.
Strings on cedar/cypress - I really love high tension Fluorocarbon or nylon. You should try the ukes with Alex strings, I don't recommend them all the time but this time they would be a great fit.

The concert has a traditional ukulele sound the tenor is better for more pop or modern stuff
