I remember seeing the Cowsills back in December of 1967 at the Bushnell Theater
in Hartford, Connecticut, along with a local group called the Wild Weeds. I was
12 years old and I think Susan was all of 8 years old. She was as cute as a button.
The whole audience admired Susan. They were a talented family. I loved that
concert! It made so happy, happy, happy! 🙂

I've been watching this band since the '60s until they broke.up. if you got more publicity this song ,around the bend ,would be a monstrous. Hit.The courage it took to talk about her brother and then to sing the song. Susan Castle is unlimited in her talent. I've seen her interact with Dean Martin when she was a child and did it better than any actress ever could. Check out her and two of her brothers singing Indian lake on the Mike huckleby show, sounds like a studio recording, where is your publicist get this song on the air.

True story: couple years ago I got my brother to go with to see the Happy Together Tour at Grand Casino Mille Lacs in Minnesota. It was great fun seeing and listening to all the entertainers. Afterwards we were going to go up to the room and relax before going back down to the machines. As we got on the elevator, a young couple got on and the doors started to close. I saw someone coming so as usual I stuck my hand back out of the doors to get them to open again. It was a gal with a baseball cap on. She got on and the doors closed. A few seconds went by when like a little 12 year old boy with a crush, I heard my brother say, "It's Susie Cowsill!". She didn't acknowledge, but he was thrilled..(he was about 60 then).. Yeah, he still gets kidded about that....oh and thank you Susie for making his day!

Death ! I used to be afraid of it until one day I mentioned my fear to my father .After I told him my thoughts he explained to me how Death probably isn't any worse than anything else we go through . He said when we are born and are being delivered we cry and scream because we can't believe any place could be better than were we are at that moment . Then as we go through life we get to thinking this is great ,can't be any place better than this . So.....it only strands to reason that death will more than likely be the same way . After we get there we will wonder what all the worrying and crying was all about ,because this place is GREAT ! ! ! !

This is one of the best songs I have ever heard!! Why isn't it in a single??? It moved me, made me tap my feet, listen to the melody, listen to the voice, it bounces, it bounces from there to all the way there! thank you Susan. You are so beautiful! a twinkling star. Awesome!

love it - thanks - I've known about Susan all of my life because I grew up in Middletown. Today is actually the first time I can say that I LIKE like her. I always liked her and there was the teenage crush deal but now I really like her if that makes crazy sense.

I totally get it. You go through that whole "was it a crush or is she actually really good?!"

I love this story and song. Met Susan and Barry in Topsfield, Ma in 1971, she was only 12. I know it was written for Barry (my crush, along with a million others) but l think of my middle son who l lost 3 years ago. Thank you Susan, wish l still had the pic l took with you. Coincidentally, my brother, who is a drummer met Barry several times at different venues, l think during the 80's. Hoping to see you all this summer when you play my hometown, Lynn, Ma. Love ya!

Bereavement is so difficult, but if it's any consolation I think your brother (R.I.P.) was there with you...at exactly 1:30 when you started talking about him, I heard the wind come up and tickle the wind chimes, as if him saying thanks for remembering me sis, great tune! My condolences for your loss, my Mom passed away the same year as Barry, she sent me a dream to let me know she was okay a year later. I had a lot of guilt because I was living 3000 miles away in California and could not make it back in time. She was greatly weakened by lung and bone cancer and fell down and could not get up. She called for my Dad to help her but he did not come right away. In the dream I could read her thoughts and she was thinking along the lines of am I going to die now?, woe is me and so on. Then her thoughts changed and she was thinking something like well...I've lived a full life, if this is the end so be it...really brave. She then reached out to God thru prayer and he came to her and she rose up.
I wanted to see exactly what happened next, maybe get a glimpse of the pearly gates but there was this annoying music box
getting louder and louder. The tune was "Somewhere My Love", Laura's theme from Doctor Zhivago which she liked to sing to me when I was a baby...Marky's song she always called it. It woke me up, but it turns out it was also part of the dream...the lyrics it was playing as it woke me were "Someday we'll meet again my love, someday whenever the spring breaks through"
It was her way of saying she was okay just as "Round The Bend" was for you from your brother. I am sending you a tune called
"Peaceful Mind" from Borrtex to make you feel better. It's coincidentally 1:30 in length also so hope you enjoy it!
If you want to talk some more about this subject please don't hesitate to reach out. First check out the tune Truly, Truly by Grant Lee Buffalo. My thoughts are on the second verse... "It's just been too long since we set aside some time alone, I sure could use your point of view! And it's been awhile since we dropped our guard and cracked a smile, don't you think it's overdue? Well how about you?" Best wishes, Mark
