I bought this dock in combination with a Razer 15" Advanced model (2021). While gaming the Dock is not able to keep the battery of the laptop 100% charged. That means the battery is constantly going down and if you reach minimum battery, the laptop just shuts down - in the middle of the game. So you still need a connected charger. If that is the reason why you might be planning to buy this dock, i can not recommend it.
Hi, yes your dock won’t do enough charge for gaming. This dock provides 90watts of power. No dock will be able to do this as it’s the limitation of usb c power. I would not knock the razer Dock for this as 90watts is a good and will power most laptops under normal load.
@@FPtechtalk yes but their marketing is kind of fake and missleading. They advertise the dock as a charger - basically they sell gaming equipment - and while gaming the Laptop shuts down, since it's getting not enough power. So the idea is, if i use the Laptop for which i bought it for - i will have to plugin my charger as well? That's ridiculous.
@@kzumo this was a huge frustration of mine. Razer strategically goes as far as legally feasable to imply features and then under deliver on the reality. Their older models don't even accept charge via thunderbolt only their clunky proprietary charger. I was hoping they had finally engineered a solution but this is just $300 for 3 USBC ports? No thanks. Appreciate you bc this is exactly what I came to the comments to look for btw.
How is it holding up so far after a year? Reading a mixed bag of functionality issues. It's also still the most ridiculous thing they advertise this thing for Mac but Synapse 3.0 does not support MacOSX.
I have razer blade stealth 13 lap top, I want to make sure I Can connect two monitors in Razer Thunderbolt 4 Dock Chroma before I buy it. If I can do what do I need to buy more with it to make it work?
I really don't know why Razer does this on all devices. The RGB should be changable at least to "off" as default. The Setting should be stored in the Hardware and the user should not be forced to use the synapse App. This makes it nearly impossible to use the dock with your HomeOffice Laptop where you might not be able to install aditional software. It prevents me from buying the device even though I like Razer Hardware and Specs. I don't like their Synapse Software Only Policy.
For anyone with one of these - If the laptop is connected, but sleeping, does this cause monitors and USB devices to briefly power on before returning again to power save mode? My OWC dock is currently doing this.
I just bought this dock and I‘m running into sone issues. I got a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro (i7-12700h, 3070 ti) and when i connect it to the thunderbolt port, it wont show my monitor. If I connect the dock via the usb pd port it works, but i only get 120hz instead of 165hz. Any ideas? Much appreciation.
I'm looking for a dock with a kvm switch for a macbook air m1. I want to use the same keyboard for both my home windows PC and a work macbook whilst using dual monitors. I don't think such a thing exists. I've been looking everywhere.
Not sure on that one. I have used kvm switches before and can be troublesome. If I come across any ill let you know. For the razer dock you can only really plug it out of one and into the other to use in that way
Hey man. I have the same set up. There's no dock that can do this. The solution I came up with is using a monitor with built in KVM switch. I got the Benq PD3220U. It has built in kvm with a round "key". Hope this helps. Btw, great video! Thanks
Hello, can an m1/m2 MacBook Pro connect to two external monitor with this? I know Apple silicone laptop only allow one external monitor, but with certain docks multiple monitor is possible. Will this achieve that?
For m1 mac's I recommend Lenovo's Thinkpad docks with DisplayLink. Make sure it's displaylink and not the other ones otherwise it won't work. Aside from that it's plugin and use. Have it and it works great for two monitors (I have a m1 mac pro 2021 model). One downside is for most streaming services it will complain about DRM (since displaylink is just copying over the screen). The workaround I found is to just use Opera Browser which works great. So hopefully that helps!
Hi I bought the docking station, works well with my blade 13” GTX 1650 and IIyama curved 165 MHz but when I try to connect it with my blade 17” Nvidia 3070 is not giving signal to the external monitor, all the other accessories are connected and working just the monitor is not picking the signal from laptop, I only manage to connect the monitor like before in the laptop usb-c port; any advice please? Cheers
@@FPtechtalk thanks but the blade 17” provides 2 usb-C thunderbolt 4 ports, there is a thing that maybe impedes the transfer of data between the laptop and monitor: this laptop has a different charging port, isn’t usb-C port but when I plug the docking station to any of those two sub-C ports is charging the laptop! another thing that maybe influences the data transfer is that Nvidia 3070 outputs a higher power/ refresh rate to monitor so maybe the docking station has not enough power to deliver to monitor despite the power delivered by the graphic card, that’s explaining why the Gtx 1650 Ti of the smaller laptop has no any problem to pass trough docking station giving the right amount of power to the monitor
It has 2 ports but one might only be connected to the gpu. I know it was like that on my legion with the 3070ti. That laptop has no issue with the razer and would output a much higher wattage gpu. It’s possible it’s a setting with the gpu or mux switch. Not sure
@@FPtechtalk thank you so much for replying, yes you may be right, I have gpu always on, looks like is connecting with the monitor but then is reject it several times, I’ll look into nvidia gpu settings and I’ll try to use for media the onboard integrated gpu

This will be the same for all docks and chargers. They will say they can charge but all will have limits on wattage.

Hi, great video. Do you have any idea if it supports razers eGpu?
Keep up the great work
I don’t think so. Thanks
What happens if you use your laptop charger alongside this dock?
Could you please tell, where did you get this Turtle toy at 1:34 video time? :)
Heard a lot of the users reporting USB-A inconsistencies or outright failure and port degradation after a year.
Haven’t had any issues yet but will update if I do. Hope it doesn’t happen

Using it daily for work at the mo and no issues. I have it for windows
Is it worth for me to buy a PCi-express adapter for the Type C connector ? got the Thunderbolt 4 as a gift but can't use it on my gaming PC
Hey mate, do you notice the fans kicking on at all? Or if the unit makes any audible noise?
Never noticed any noise from it

I can’t see why not but no way of testing

I agree but if you can live with the rgb it does work without synapse. The light isn’t very bright so not too intrusive
you also coould open. the device up and remove or disconnect the rgb.

is the power enough to charge MacBook Pro M1 2021 which has 140W USB-C Power Adapter
It will charge it just slower as it’s 90w output
How to connect it to a hdmi monitor?
I use a hdmi to usb c cable

It might be a specific thunderbolt port for this on the razer blade. Without a razer blade it’s hard to know exactly what’s wrong. Should work

With the right cables and laptop yes
"h" is pronounced "aitch" not "haitch"
