- IMPERIAL NAVY COMMANDOS:
The Imperial Navy commandos were specially trained sentinel troopers that fought for the Imperial Navy. They were usually stationed on Imperial-class Star Destroyers acting as elite units.
Overview
Navy commandos were lightly armored soldiers that were trained for patrol, guard and monitor duty. Often navy commandos acted as elite guardsmen to provide extra punch to the navy trooper forces. At least some commandos were trained in piloting All Terrain Scout Transports, as one was seen during the Battle of the TIE Fighter Construction Facility. They were typically stationed at key Imperial facilities where they provided accurate covering fire for other units. Squads consisted of five to seven commandos and a sergeant, and sometimes an officer or a medic.
Though they were part of the Imperial Navy and not the Stormtrooper Corps, Naval commandos nevertheless wore a similar uniform as the stormtroopers, though elements of the design were similar to that of the scout troopers: their black body suit partially revealed and little leg armor shared the resemblance to the scout troopers' own outfit. The Navy commandos appeared to have temperature-controlled chestplates similar to that of snowtroopers on their backplates, making them among the Empire's environmentally-specialized divisions of troopers. The helmets had wider visors than those of the stormtrooper variant, similar to that of the Scout trooper, with comlink antennas attached to the right side of the helmets.

The helmets had wider visors than those of the stormtrooper variant, similar to that of the Scout trooper, with comlink antennas attached to the right side of the helmets.
Arsenal
Depending on their rank, mission, profile, and training protocol, an Imperial Navy commando primarily wielded the E-11 blaster rifle, which was standard issue. However, some sergeants carried laser-guided sniper rifles that were deadlier than the average weapon. Other commandos did not wield their rifles for the majority of their assignments; instead, these select troops manned blaster turrets stationed around the battleground. As a sidearm, they were provided with an EC17 holdout blaster pistol.
Though they did not use them often in battle, Navy commandos also carried thermal detonators as part of their equipment.
Gear
Most Navy commando helmets were equipped with comlink antennae. Squad sergeants often wore orange shoulder pauldrons and multipurpose backpacks as well as their specialized helmets, which were equipped with rangefinders. Each commando was issued a small black ammunition pouch that was worn near the left shoulder; this pouch stored extra ammo for their blasters.
HISTORY
Numerous Naval commandos were present on the Imperial shipyards over the planet Nar Shaddaa where they fought against members of Rahm Kota's militia, the commandos were outnumbered against the militia with most of the defending squads retreating or pinned down by the rebels. The defending commandos encountered by Galen Marek were killed in order to maintain his secrecy as Darth Vader's apprentice.
Later, the Empire stationed garrisons of Navy commandos on Coruscant at the Jedi Temple to prevent prying eyes from investigating the ruins; three groups of these soldiers were annihilated at the Temple by Marek.
Other garrisons were placed on Nar Shaddaa, Raxus Prime, and Felucia, where they were employed to patrol Imperial stations or cities. Another garrison was deployed on Kashyyyk during the Imperial occupation; the garrison was wiped out by Galen and various Wookiee dissidents.

Highly underrated troopers. Always loved their armor. I remember when I was little I thought it was another transitional armor kinda like the TK troopers or Triton squad troopers, but turns out these guys aren’t even considered stormtroopers.
It is kind of odd that they resemble Stormtroopers, when they're not even related to them. It's kind of like they were meant to fool you.
I mean, shit, I thought they were Stormtroopers when I was younger!
Also, the Stormtroopers on the Death Star can survive multiple impales, and it's very annoying.
@@BunThighsLol Imperial Army Troopers kinda look like Storm Troopers also. I think its more of an "Imperial" thing than an exclusively Storm Trooper look.
These guys really had one of the coolest designs in tfu. Same for Kota’s militia
Kota's militia guys looked like militarized rebel troopers, I quite liked them too
@@TheChiefOrg13 I wish that was the standard look for the rebels too lol.
@@neofulcrum5013 i prefer it like how it is, shows Kota Militia as a Elite Batallion, and the difference between a farmer who took a blaster and a experienced Clone Wars veteran
@@Fulcrox they can still be elite units. It shouldn’t be hard to let the good guys look cool too when the empire has hundreds of variants based on the template of one.
@@neofulcrum5013 at least Rogue One gave the Rebel troopers some justice, Hoth rebels also looked more militarized than other variants tho
I'd love to be an Imperial Navy Commando, sure they get destroyed in an instant by force users but they be aesthetic af
They’re literally just imperial marines with the equivalent of scout trooper armor
@@angelic_disappointment7889 Tk tropperd armors**
Pretty sure their designs are used in bad batch if not just inspired by them
I love how in the psp version galen vists ghe jedi temple 3 times and at that point the commandos just never straight up never remember what ship he keeps coming in
Galen: Shhh no witnesses 😉
And they don't even bother to build anti air turrets to defend the temple when THE ship coming right in front of them.
Ps2 version too
PS2 version and the Wii are the same
@@TheMedicOfficerI was on wii loved this game
as a kid, i had this version fiest before the ps3 and always wondered why they replaced the actual stormtroopers until the death star
I always thought of it as Stormtroopers showing up until the end to be a sign of the Empire reaching its peak as you go to try to put a stop to it. The stormtroopers were a lot tougher and resistant to hits in the game. It also makes sense they would send Naval Commandos to hold down posts and be at frontier worlds.
@@mereelfalstom9232maybe and i never noticed that
Always loved their design
That rebel that pulled the stripper out of the walker is built different
I'm sorry, *W H A T ?*
@@BunThighsLolHe had the balls to climb onto the AT-ST then shoot and yoink the sniper out.
They’re kinda like the precursor to Army Troopers before we really had those guys fleshed out in Canon
Army Troopers came first in Legends actually, like a lot of the stuff used by early Expanded Universe writers they came from Roleplaying game sourcebooks from the late 80s and early 90s
This was my childhood on the Wii. So much damn fun going all out, especially against the Emperor. When you max out your stats, it’s simply incredible
Chad
Yeah! This on the WII was fucking top notch. Incredibly immersive when you get to actually swing the Sabre instead of sitting on the settee with a controller
IT was annoying AS hell
Glad I wasn’t the only one who appreciated the Wii version as a kid. Loved this game.
I actually made it through with no upgrades
The PSP/PS2 version was so good.
I love Rahm Kota's fleet troopers, for once the rebels aren't depicted as complete push-overs in need of saving by the main characters
*literally get saved by the main character*
@@Namkify i meant that they're not depicted as pushovers, but u rite
ngl but legends always had more of the cooler features like these guys and 501st had some great designs too them. Kotas milita did aswell and with the design you could see like a resemblance too like an early rebellion
My morality leaving my body when the bad guys have cool armor
I had always hoped that a battlefront 3 would include these guys
"there he is. Get him."
you get him, if i go in there i'll die immediately.
The nostalgia unleashed
These guys deserve a comeback.
They did, the Imperial Commandos in SWBF2EA are or were Imperial Navy Commandos, I say "were" because some newer source claimed they are ISB Special Forces, but that shouldn't make them "not be" Imperial Navy Commandos.
@@lancer737 thanks for your reply.
Believe it or not, Imperial Navy Commandos aren't a Stormtrooper variant, they're completely unrelated to the Stormtrooper Corps. This is also mentioned in the video's description.
This game had one of the best esthetics of all Star Wars contents. Filoni and Disney will never top this and (they will) always copy from legends make it worse.
the disney continuity is basically a loose adaptation of legends at this point
I always wondered why they had that cutscene of the militiaman taking over the AT-ST. It really dosen't change anything, the AT-ST would have attacked you anyways and it dosen't get stronger from being controlled by Kota's militiaman.
Just meant to be cool and shows more of the environment/story going on around you. It's a good detail
Because its far better than a stupid text saying "oh, that AT-ST is controlled by Kota Militia".
It shows the skill of the Militia commandos and the effort put in the game
@@Fulcrox As for your first sentence, my point is, what's the difference between wether the AT-ST is controlled by a militiaman or a stormtrooper?
As for the second, I can see your point.
Because it’s badass as f***
That militiaman pulled out and lifted an whole a** grown man in full body armor with one hand. Something’s gonna be stronger by having him behind the wheel.
“Close the doors” bro sounds like the clone wars narrator💀
It is him. Tom Kane is his name
@@catonwilliams4566yep, same overused VA
@nerotheyoung864 i dont care if hes overused. He sounds badass.
@@stinger59605 it's cool the first few times, not when he's voicing even qui-gon
Captain Ozzik Sturn has more lines in the PS3/XBOX version
When I first played this as a kid, I thought this armour was the mid-way conversion between the Phase II Clone Armour and the Stormtrooper. Kinda like how the Empire still had remnants of the Republic not yet fully overhauled for the Empire.
Though, the feeling of seeing Stormtroopers in the final levels and having my theory validated by the game was something else lol
Navy Commandos aren't actually part of the Stormtrooper Corps, though their armor is obviously similar in appearance. And Stormtroopers appeared nearly everywhere in other versions of the game, so, you're unfortunately incorrect on your "confirmed" theory with these guys. Unless I'm misinterpreting what you said.
0:45 I Always find it funny how he scratches His Helmer like its his head
1:48 😂😂😂😂 ok i remember that part that is pretty funny as hell when he said "uh oh.." as his last words tho it's impressive how ps2 had more levels then the xbox
Anyone else think the navy commando officers are the imperial equivalent of republic ARC Troopers?
They sorta are. The Imperial Navy Commandos where to the regular Navy Troopers what the ARC Troopers where to the regular Clone Troopers. Unfortunately for them though they happen to end up against StarKiller for the majority of the game.
Those troopers at the Jedi temple must of thought no one would ever come here easy gig. Nope a straight up sigh came there more than once and rock them a
These guys got some of the most badass helmets for a stormtrooper reg.
The Force unleashed had so many cool concepts that it would have been great to see in a sequel
I was confused as I hadn't seen these scenes before, then I realized this was the Wii version while I had the Xbox 360 version (and the DS version, curiously enough)
Ah the memories. I played through this game, and the second one lord knows how times on my Wii growing up.
I loved this Era of starwars games everything was jus do whtever u wasn’t and as hot so many interesting designs esp from force unleashedd
Best Star Wars games: KOTOR 1 and 2, TOR, The Force Unleashed(all versions), Jedi Knight Trilogy, original Battlefront 1 and 2, Lego Star Wars The Video Game, Original Trilogy, and Complete Saga, and Lego The Clone Wars.
In the lore these guys were separate from actual storm troopers. In the psp version of the game actual storm troopers took a bit more damage.
I feel like the TK Troopers from the Bad Batch were partially inspired by these.
Yep wouldn’t doubt it Dave always steals good designs and inspiration never giving credit to the source material. He did the same thing for the training droid voices from the first season of the bad batch those screams sound very close to the purge droid you fight as Starkiller…
First of all, the TK troopers are based on the Ralph Mcquarrie concept stormtrooper armor. (maybe the games designers also took inspiration from them) Second of all, He's not stealing anything, besides him and George back in the day re used quite a bit of stuff that was concept art or other assets. Those things you referenced aren't considered canon anymore (unfortunately) so why let an asset like that be forgotten.
@@jocularplane
It doesn't have to be canon for it to be recognized as someone else's work
@@ugiustuskeiserus8066 Oh my god it's called having an archive, George Lucas owns lucas arts, who in turn developed and published the force unleashed. Dave filoni and George obviously worked on the clone wars together and from time to time they would reuse assets from different media's. So quit calling it stealing since all these studios were interconnected and shared asset's and with lucasarts not being a game publisher anymore (as in not existing) Dave might've checked the old sounds archive and thought it would fit.
@@jocularplane Yes, I know they are based on the concept art, but he could've gotten inspiration from these troopers as well. Pretty sure George used concept art from his company as they were the inspiration for these designs to begin with. Dave just takes these designs and people act like he helped give us good content. He does nothing he takes previous designs and work and puts it into his shows biggest example is Rebels. If you were to show a Rebels design people would probably say it's from Rebels when it's actually concept art from Mcquarrie and they credit Dave for these new designs when he just takes it from the past. Yes don't let these concepts be forgotten is a good idea, but they are being forgotten when they are redone by a man who is lazy and can't be creative is all I'm saying.
Stormtroopers that needed more shine. Can you do an video of Chop'aa Notimo's Mandalorians?
Navy Commandoes? So like, Imperial SEALS?
Probably my second fav Trooper look
This is why Canon matters! Starkiller and Rahm Kota will always be important IMO!
2:07 thats a first time seeing Empire uses the LAAT after the Clone Wars
Other way around the rebels are using the LAAT gunship, you can tell during the 2nd mission of the Wii/PS2 Force Unleashed Ram Kota's Rebel Malitia use the LAAT gunship
Star wars is dead but Starkiller is unstoppable.
Thank you verra much i love thé armor❤
I still don't get why as a kid the Wii version got more missions, costumes, and real time cutscenes and the Xbox version didn't
Honestly the coolest storm trooper variant. The helmet is mint. Also this game is still probably in my top 10. Wii version was so much better than ps/Xbox
I wanna know what blasters the commanders have in the thumbnail
I never noticed how the AT-ST commander has a wookie pelt sash.
Pity the didn't not appear in the xbox 360 version of the game.
(PS2 Nostalgia) I've always thought their Armor looks so cool! In one picture of these 200 colectable Holocrons, you can see a concept sketch of an Black armored Imperial Navy Commando (Probably a Shadow Imperial Navy Commando) Would've been nice to see them as actuall enemies aswell. 0:52 this scene always got me, when they recognize the Rogue Shadow and immediatly run away 😂. I don't understand why this Version isn't on the PS Store, i'd love to replay this on PS5!
Back when star wars was about a war
While I haven't played the game, I'd love to see this design implemented in projects like "Bad batch", or other similar animated projects like the armor between the TK soldiers and the original stormtroopers
Sadly, this design is legends
Hunters helmet in the bad batch looks pretty similar to triton squads helmet in the ps2 version’s kashyyk intro. Not exact but similar.
They look cool. It's a pity that the PC/XBOX version is much more empty than the PSP/WII version of the game.
The fact that these guys aren’t even stormtroopers. The ones in this version were no push overs.
They look like slightly changed stormtroopers. And are as ineffective too.
Do u think it’s strange this came up on my for u page when I stared to play the five unleashed
When I heard their dying voices I thought they were sick😂
I would love to see these guys make a comeback in canon
SENATE SENTINELS WHEN
These guys are technically Not stormtroopers
I remember this game looking a bit more polished back in the day lmao didn’t realise it was this bad looking
It's the PS2/Wii version. Lucasarts developed the PS3/Xbox 360 version, this version was developed by Krome Studios.
They need a battle pack or a black series figure of these guys I buy them
this was not on the pc version?
@1:47 what kind of Trooper was that?
Incinerator Trooper
*jet incinerator trooper
Waiiit I actually don't remember seeing these guys in TFU 💀
What i would give to have a psp to play this game again
2:10 It looked like that Rebel shot his comrade in the back of the head lol.
Black series do your thing.
They look like TK troopers
When and where did we find those troopers in the force unleashed ?
They were only in PSP and PS2 versions of the game. Basically being a regular troops till Death Star mission
Asthetic as fuck, commandos and they really look like capable troopers not like the storms
Yeah, there's something "special" about these commandos
0:13 How strong is this rebel

No longer canon unfortunately.

The ps2/wii version of the force unleashed
@mattfk_kbraapratata8996 Wait, there are TWO versions of the game? what's the main difference? story or gameplay?
@@advtutoone version had more bosses and a few extra sequences. This version I played on the psp

Both actually. The PS2/Wii version has a bit more regarding the storyline where you go visit the Jedi Temple on Coruscant multiple times, you go to Nar Shaddaa and Cloud City unlike the 360/PS3/PC version where you just go to cloud City and the combat is a bit different between the games with different or new enemy types

Well yea obviously not they’re just navy guards
They are not impressive as the clone commandos tho.
To be fair… what really is?
looks like the ps2 version?
these guys are like the middleground between TK troopers and stormtroopers
