They can also do cognitive testing, etc. Having a PhD doesn’t necessarily mean they are better therapists than masters-level therapists. But one would hope that anyone who receives a state license to practice therapy would be competent and ethical. Sadly, not always the case. Unfortunately, this is also true for medical doctors, lawyers, etc.
