Adidas Vs. Puma - The Dirty Battle For Star Athletes

Adidas vs Puma. They have been at war with each other since the early days to sign the best athletes.
Both companies formed the “Pele Act” which would stop both companies from signing Brazilian soccer legend, Pele. Puma had other ideas and disregarded this agreement and went on to sign Pele for the 1978 FIFA World Cup.
Part of this signing was getting ask the referee to tie his shoes before he blew the whistle to start the final game vs Italy.
As he tied his shoes, the cameras showcased the Puma shoe he was wearing before global audience watching the game on Tv. Puma gained millions of dollars worth of global exposure just for a $20,000.
