    It's a great app!!! Takes a quite a bunch of time to tune it in the way I wanted it but man when I did I love it. I have bought and sold several solid state amps but Marshall is the stuff 🤘🤘🤘

    Best instructional demo of the Marshall Code I've found. I do suggest if you intend to buy, get the code 100, as the code 100 has an effects loop and a speaker out option. Had mine about a month, awesome. One thing though, the demonstrator forgot to mention that you can save you presets on your hand held device, without having to actually change the amp itself. The beauty of that is you can take you hand held device to a gig without your amp and if there's a code amp available, just pair the devices and you can still use your presets, without altering the amp settings. Also missed is that it comes with a footswitch you can use to scroll up or down through the presets.

      You're comment is super helpful, thanks for sharing. Torn between this and vox vt100x. Really wanted a blackstar core 100 but I don't trust the software and it's longevity. Marshall seems to have been developed better

    • @chrisdaviesguitar
      @chrisdaviesguitar 7 років тому +1

      I tried a Blackstar core, but the store only had the 150 watt version and thus was almost £100 more expensive. My Code 100 combo was £349 UK GB pounds (not sure what that is in dollars if you're in the US). I'm still finding more and more sounds I like. Not used it live as yet though. If you really want to hear the Marshall code being used to it's full potential, watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/TisYc7HwP38/v-deo.html

      Foot switch is sold separate to the amp does not come with it

    • @chrisdaviesguitar
      @chrisdaviesguitar 6 років тому

      A foot switch DOES come with the amp, but it's just an up/down (two switch) through the presets, foot switch. The programmable foot switch however, comes at an extra cost. For me it was about £38 UKGP. Not expensive and not essential either.

    Damn there’s actually a lot in this amp i like how it has a lot of marshall amp sounds they may not be exact but its close enough for it to sound good to me at least. Got one recently can’t wait to dive into it

      @I_Said_ OU812 I like the variety of presets, but I found it's way too loud even at volume 3 for the small room I'm practicing in, so I've often been sticking with Amplitube4's free amp sims.
      Sounds cool though! And convenient that I just plug it in toe record if for whatever reason I can't use my main audio interface.

    I have a Code 25 and it's difficult to fault it for the money. It's easy top use, sounds great and packs a mean punch. My only real gripe is the Bluetooth connection. Good luck trying to operate it from another room. or even from the sofa, any further away than a metre or so and the connection is lost.

    The amp is sooooooo good! I just bought it a few days ago. The app sucks. And it has done ever since it went out. Can you guys please tell me what brand and model of tablet or smart phone I should buy to use it with the app? It's a shame the app seems to work only on Tutorial Guitar player guys. Thanks

    • @chrisdaviesguitar
      @chrisdaviesguitar 7 років тому +1

      I'm using the Chrome Nexus 7 tablet, works fine once connected. The thing I have noticed, if the amp is turned off, or the app switched off, I have to pair the device with the amp again.

    I just realized my Marshall Code 50 sounds good when played loud. I am know thinking that I will keep the amp, purchased at Sweetwater of course.

    • @PeterDad60
      @PeterDad60 8 років тому +2

      To whomever it was at Sweetwater that has removed the post that I wrote last night in which I panned the Code 50 I just want you to read what I wrote above. Notice especially that I wrote that I will be keeping the amp. I only wish you would allow people to speak their mind without you being so insecure that you must remove a negative post Basically to restate what I had written: It seems to me that when new and when playing the amp at low volumes the sound is not so good.

    • @chrisdaviesguitar

      I use mine at home, no issues at low volume for my Code 100 combo.

    I am pretty sure that you can't modify the presets from your computer. There is no Gateway app for PC.. The USB is for connecting to your DAW or for upgrading the firmware.

    • @vtatai
      @vtatai 8 років тому

      Yeah no computer app, and to be honest that iOS app looks very ugly.

    • @ronj9448
      @ronj9448 8 років тому

      I looked at the documentation but it seems that it takes MIDI commands to alter the settings. So you would mod from a DAW. Not sure if that is any easier.

    • @antmax
      @antmax 8 років тому

      Yeah, someone on the android forums has a homebrew Midi app that accesses all the functions except saving on the amp. Marshall hasn't released the codes for that. But everything else works. I think he is planning on creating a DIY custom format so you can save locally to the PC and send your preset to the amp in realtime.
      The Midi controller in FL Studio works just fine for sending MIDI CC codes to the amp.

  • @antmax
    @antmax 8 років тому +3

    There's a new firmware patch for the CODE out today which fixes the weird distortion when recording via USB and is supposed to fix the digital fizz in some situations.
    PC only update at the moment.

      +alonzo campos Not if you get the big 9.0 galaxy tab e like I just bought because I left the 7 incher out in the rain.It dried out and works with the exception of one bright spot but it would be a little small for this use.I'm waiting for the combo 100 so we'll see!

    • @antmax
      @antmax 8 років тому +1

      A $47 tablet like the Aceson A7 from Amazon works just fine.. But pretty much any old Android phone or tablet works so long as it has Bluetooth 4. If you have an old retired one in a draw somewhere.
      I've seen the above tablet for under $40 on occasion. When I got it it was $33.

    I got my code 50.Liked something about the first preset. Jubilee heaven?
    I shut of the reverb delay and modulation. I think these presets are poop for the most part.Anyway before I started tweaking it and just kept to amp power and speaker maybe overdrive
    Some of them. Jubilee
    Jcm 800 really sounded good. I was in no way expecting it to feel like a tube stack.I played some dokken riffs like kiss of death because I know George used this amp for the song.I was a little suprised.I played the riff and it just felt and sounded like it.I was confused about it actually.I felt like I'm hearing something I know I shouldn't.
    Had problems with crazy alien feedback freak outs too
    Went to overdrive and lowered gain and volume
    Went to power section found the noise gate. Was on 3
    Put it on 6 and started changing the cab sims and shutting them off.That is when I got sold.Seriously.
    Was about to return it the second day.Glad I didn't.
    Once you stop thinking about it and oh yeah the master presence and resonance controls.Pumped up that bass and was loving it.
    The other thing that's cool is that it is using Marshall amps
    Sound like the Marshall amps.
    Even if you're only wanting a Marshall type sound for certain things or just to be able to have them.For 250$ U.S. it is a smart investment.
    I really like the effects as well.Got everything I might need .Pitch shifter alone is a great thing to have.Guitars stay same and just change keys.One standard.Down a half step whole step dropped B.I'm definitely a firm believer that a guitar into a nice tube head into a 4×12 Marshall is pretty much the only way to sound the best.So yeah pretty biased but impressed.

      Marshall code is good but still sounds too plastic or digital.

  • @1970borntorun
    @1970borntorun 8 років тому

    I played one of these one they first came out, and I was very unimpressed. Very wooden, fake sound to them - especially the high gain modes. The ONLY modeling amp worth considering is the Peavey Vyper, and do you know why?? It's because the pre-amp is NOT (!!!) digital, it's a transistor front-end under the hood. It's that simple. You can take all the Line 6 crap, Blackstar Modeling, Fender Mustangs, and this Marshall and use them as door stops. That's all they are good for. Well, if you have good ears and CARE about good sound. Someone has to stir things up and tell the truth with Ed Roman gone!! ;)

    • @PeterDad60
      @PeterDad60 8 років тому +1

      I just got my Code 50 2 day's ago Oct 26, 2016. The amp is the most artificial thing that has ever assaulted my ears! Only when playing chords does it sound like an amp. Playing single notes for melody and lead and it's absolutely disgusting sounding. It sounds like tin, the speaker stinks and the sounds are unmusical.
      I will keep working on the presets to hopefully get the amp to output some musicality. My hopes are low and I feel that I will return the Code 50. Like I said, I will give it a chance. But how many hours must I work just to get a fairly acceptable tone?
      My Hot rodded Marshall JCM 900 with a 1960A and 1960B full stack sounded great and was so much easier to dial in that Marshall Tone. I sold it because I had a severe injury and could not even hold a guitar for a few years, also it was making me deaf! But I loved it more than anything before or since!
      My last words are: I think The Code 50 is designed to play at full volume and then the presets will sound good, like the actual Marshall Amps it's emulating. That means that I won't be playing the Marshall Code on a daily basis because I do not always play at full volume/dimed-well not anymore. The Code 50 sounds terrible at anything less than cranked volumes. So I guess the kids will love it! But I'm an older guy who likes to play at easy listening volumes a lot of the time, and it is unnatural to hear the Code 50 roaring like a JCM 800 Full Stack of 1960 A & B cabs at low volume. It's just weird. There is no low volume tones at all, only fully cranked concert level Marshall Tone that sounds wrong at low volume. At loud volumes the chords do sound great which is a great thing if that's all you want. But I want more.
      I guess I can continue to play all my other amps for low level volumes, because they still have musicality at low levels so I can enjoy them. I mean, they make my guitar sound like it-self. But on the Marshall Code 50 so far the 3 guitars that I have played through on it did not sound like they normally do. That sucks.
      I love the fully dimed stadium tone of Marshall tube amps, they are the best in the world for that. But who play's that way everyday, all day long and into the evening? Not me, because I would go completely deaf if I did. This is the weirdest amp I have ever played. Remember the chords sound fantastic but the single lines lead suck at all different volumes. I can't get a tone that I like.
      Maybe I have another lemon on my hands!
      I guess another tube amplifier is in my immediate future and that's a good thing. They sound great.

      The Fender Champion 100 sounds so tubey as well. Check them out bro, especially the boss katana artist, it won't disappoint.

    Just bought the code 50, trading in my mustang 3v2. Lost my fx loop, this amp.has no ext outs either, worst of all the cleans and mid gain are great, dist is so bad. Has tons of weird sounds, like a torn speaker. I cant place it but its so annoying. Mustang did the same thing on dist. Im done modeling, this is going back to GC for an Orange crush 35rt. Proper fx loop and no weird sounds. Oh and, although I dont use it, the headphone out is the worst ive ever heard. And I was using high quality studio headphones. Nice try marshall.

    • @antmax
      @antmax 8 років тому +1

      The speaker needs to be broken in, then it starts to sound better. The stock presets aren't that great either. They all have the noisegate turned way up. Bring it down and adjust the presence and resonance and you can get a much better sound than stock.

    • @kleetusd5032
      @kleetusd5032 8 років тому +2

      Well, I kept the code. Dont use the presets, just base amp models adjusted to taste. Ya, res and presence cranked on all patches ,adjusted thkse down too. Behave better nkw. Loves dirt pedals in front. Im replacing the crap speaker with an eminence. Weird buzzing was the handle,fixed that too. Rocks good now.

      When I first got it I installed a Celestion V30 from another cab for testing purposes, I immediately got a sound I liked better that way, after a few days I decided to grab a WGS Veteran 30 (based on the V30 but with the correct impedance for the CODE 50) and haven't looked back, the amp sings. BTW you're spot on about the noise gate on stock settings, which are horrible except for maybe 5 or 6 of them.
