Believe me when I say that this has to be the most powerful song in the South Park movie, if not the franchise. I know everyone likes hearing Cartman sing about how Kyle's mom is a bitch, but really this one's message is better. hehe yes music theory is fun! it's called a motif which means a musical tune (usually only a short melody, and sometimes is arranged to different keys or with slight alterations) that is played multiple times throughout a piece of media (movies mostly, but sometimes albums with themes, as well as video games, etc) to usually convey a similar or contrasting element of whatever is the focus of the scene. the play, peter and the wolf, kinda uses this method. because there is no talking, each of the characters have a specific set of instruments and tune associated with them. ex. the wolf is brass horns. im kinda rambling and idk where i'm going with this, but if you're interested, take a look at some music theory videos! it's a super interesting subject :]

Quite fitting this song was titled "La Resistance" considering how it clearly is referencing the style of Lés Miserables! Tbh South Park may have a lot of crude humor, but there are some really clever references in there one wouldn't expect to find.
But Les Misérables takes place at the time of the second Great Revolution (La Révolution de Juillet), which has no link whatsoever with the Résistance. If you want, the link is that the Révolutionnaires and the Résistants fought against two forms of the Bourgeoisie domination (one capitalistic, the other fascist).

It was also the first time I felt like I was being beat over the head with the social commentary. Bring back the absurdism pl0x.

What I like is it's a mix of four or five different songs with different music and theme but surprisingly it actually works pretty well
