  • Hey there, this is Jeroen Schweppe (17) from Germany.
I made this track only using CineSamples awesome new catalog: "MUSIO". The focus on this one is the "Piano in Blue" and the "Tins Guo" library from the catalog.

I am wondering how good musio can handle classical music

by having all the individual instruments and all their articulations, I guess musio has no problem dealing with classical music :)

Awesome! How did you make it sound so crystal clear? My mixes tend to sound quite muddy...

I would say one of the most important things is to pay attention to the loudness of the different sections and instruments. So make sure your strings don't undermine the 12 horn ensemble :). Another thing is, if you want to program slow, emotional string lines where every string instrument plays along, try to avoid ensemble patches as the only instrument you use. You can use them perfectly to sketch out what you want it to sound like or as a layer but try to play each instrument in the string section individually if possible. This gives you a lot more movement in the section as each instrument has its own dynamics line. I very often come up with some really useful ideas for the arranging while just playing each instrument individually. Also use the dynamics as best you can. No musician is able to perfectly sustain a note at a volume. Especially not when they're playing a melody line. If you look at string players or string sections live, you'll see that there is a lot of movement. So try to bring this live movement into your DAW. Try to find out where you want to emphasize the melody and support these parts with all other instruments and their dynamic lines.

@@Jeroen_Schweppe that's some really great advice right there! Thank you so much! Composing is such a great hobby, but there is a lot of things to be taken into consideration. It's like a puzzle and you only get a nice clean picture, if everything is set in please correctly. I still got so much to learn...
