Allegorical of what? If Jesus wasn't crucified and resurrected, then the price for man's sin wasn't paid, and the whole basis of the religion is gone.
The word allecorocal is usually wheeled out when something that was once taken as true is shown to be nonsense. Hence, the infallible bible word of your god is slowly devalued into fable and allegory. You might as well just dump the whole thing.
