I have Venus in the earliest degrees leading Moon, Mercury, then North Node in Capricorn... in the 6th house. I have found that all of the challenges you describe in this placements result in a persistent anxiety in daily life. Your description of the self-punishing thing is extremely apt. I can hardly make a decision in my life - heck, i can hardly even let myself like or enjoy anything - without seeing what's wrong with it and coming down on myself, hard. I genuinely assume the worst possible outcome, and most embarrassing possible appearance, of the situations I face and to the people who I meet, especially at work or anywhere where my "performance" is evaluated. I am constantly "prepared" to be abandoned or dismissed by any social engagements in my life... Sorry, I'm just ranting now... I wanted to add a characteristic of Cap placements of gentle planets to your awesome description -- I have an *urgent* fear of my inner world being known to others. It's weird. It's like... I'm extremely sensitive to other people's motives when observing them, I feel like I have a radar for subtext, sometimes paranoidly noticing little slips and hints that aren't really there. However because of this, I have this sense that if anyone ever got an impression that I was intentionally trying to be or appear a certain way or achieve a certain goal, EVERYONE WOULD HATE ME. Seriously. To be known is to feel caught, with these placements. A jealous sense of privacy is actually crippling to me. if I'm in any social environment that isn't (1) clearly goal-oriented like a workplace or (2) a party frequency where everyone collectively admits to everything is chill, the fear of being "too noticed" or "too on-purpose" is pervasively debilitating... I enjoy time alone, but even then, it feels like I can never relax, my mind is always constantly reaching towards better and other ways of being, or things I should be doing, should have done, etc. etc.....

I'm a cancer sun venus and mars and I'm dating a Capricorn sun mercury venus and mars. He's so grounding and comforting and he just makes me feel whole. He's like my matching puzzle piece. I've never felt so complete 💕. Our moon signs are a different story because he's Scorpio and I'm Gemini. It's an interesting combo but I think it brings excitement to such calming placements.

Im thinking venus is just things you atract and are attracted too, but it clicks more with complicated aspects rather than upfront personality traits. I dont think you can generalize with venus and i dont think you can generalize with capricorn... i have a stelium in cap and i dont resonate with most of cap traits. But im analyzing mercury and ascendant lately.
