My Best Agate Hunting Day EVER! (and Cutting Them on a Rock Saw)

  • This was the best agate hunting trip I have ever been on, hands down. While I normally hunt agatized coral and some Michigan beaches for agates, we did some research and heard about an old geological formation in Georgia that had agates eroding out of it. We took a trip there and managed to find a great place where these agates were eroding right out of the ground and in a small dried up creek. This was also my first opportunity to use the rock saw I just got in last month! It was a blast not only finding these little treasures, but also being able to cut them open to reveal their beauty, being the first person to ever lay eyes on them.

Paleo Chris your greatest treasure is Bri. I've always enjoyed watching your channel, especially when fossils are involved, but man oh man! Bri finds the coolest stuff! She's a keeper, just saying. I hope both of you have an amazing week!

you guys rule!! I always love how excited you guys get when you find an Indian artifact. it's an awesome feeling for sure, especially knowing no one's touched this in 6 or 7 thousand years.
if you want to sell any of those Meg teeth, I sure would love to buy a juvenile heart shaped one for a center piece for my arrowheads.
you guys really know your stuff, well educated in what you find, even the arrow heads you get right..
thank you guys for your continued great videos!!

Chris - It would be beautiful to incorporate those slabs into a building project of some sort like a floor or a wall. It would also be cool to frame those in resin and use them as wall art.

It's actually a jasper just because it has banding doesn't mean it's an agate. The white banding could be number of thing's from dolomite calcite or just quartz. The other parts being colored by trace minerals like irons etc. Jasper come is all sorts of cool color it's just as pretty as agate. Jasper which is colored chert or flint. Is normally not see through. As agate even before cutting are.they have tons of layers of silica.
