Quite happy with the grease coming out on my V2s, it means dirt and dust is making it's way out rather than further in. I also squirt a tiny bit of silicone on my seals and run it in by compressing the post an inch then running it back out to help pull dirt and dust out. I do this on my suspension to. I do this after every ride, keeps wiper seals cleaner which means stanchion coatings and seals last longer. Just replaced a 2016 fox factory 36 on one of my bikes as it is only just starting to show a thinning of the kashima in one spot on one stanchion. Have done 10s of thousands of riding on that fork.

But wouldn't it be better if it just never makes it in 🤷‍♂️
I know it's no big deal to just add some grease but it's something I don't want to keep doing every couple of rides, you shouldn't have to do that. I find the SKF seal does a better job of keeping the grease in and the dirt out.
I do use silicone spray every time I wash the bike. Well, when I remember that is. Seems to keep the seals running better for longer on the fork, but didn't seem to help the dropper post much.

It would but that is never going to happen in our life times, the technology is nowhere near that.
I have been running SKF seals on my forks for years, dirt still gets in even with cleaning after every ride. Try what I do above with silicone spray on your fork and you will be surprised just how much dirt you can pull back out from behind the seal. It will also help your seals seat against the stanchion better reducing future ingress of dirt.

Totally agree. I have V2 slammed so all I changed was the SKF wiper seals.

I kept the V2 when the V3 came out and upgraded the SKF seals. But if this one breaks I’ll definitely upgrade.

Nice comparo! Yup - I gotta unscrew the seal cap of my V2 after 5-6 rides like you mention, wipe it down and put on a thin dab of slick honey grease....then keep doing that again and again! I'm pondering that the new v3 seal will impart a bit more stiction than the looser v2 seal, and may actually end up being more dirt sensitive than the v2...? Either way, both are fine seatposts. I needed a Oneup seatpost quick last fall, and the V3's were either unavailable or crazy $, so I got the V2 which was a good bit less $. I'm happy with it (hate the actuator lever on the bars though). I am considering pumping up the PSI on my post for below freezing riding, because it gets a little slower to spring back up since the oil is so cold - a bit of extra psi might help (can't do that on the v3).

Thanks! Interesting, I'm testing the SKF seal on the V2 now, so far so good. But I will make an update if it doesn't fix the issue. As for the ability to adjust pressure, the V3 still has faster actuation in my experience. I like how the V3 is no fuss. The V2 is good too but I find the V3 to be more set and forget. If you hate the lever, you can use any lever for a dropper. I use wolftooth, fox, and a canyon one with my one ups. Your not limited to just the oneup lever.

@ yeah, a new lever is definitely in the works. I have a pnw lever on another bike I’ll swap out. I enjoy your channel, keep up the good work

That was my big issue with the v2. I ride in muddy conditions in the winter and could barely get two rides in before having to regrease. Super frustrating. Went to pnw sealed cartridge and it’s been much more user frienly and consistent. But I did just buy a new v3 for a new bike build so stoked to hear they made some solid improvements.
