- As of 3/12/23, this ranks me
NR1, CR7, WR61 for single
NR1, CR16, WR149 for average
Method: 7simul (Tommy)
Comp: Don’t Fail Kinsale 2023
This is huge for me and this is what I’ve been going for since the start of the year
Every comp it gets more and more demotivating for me to get an average nowhere near my global, making me doubt what I really do average
This was something I didn’t expect to happen at all this comp, maybe the 5.41 average but 100% not a counting 3 (which is actually tied FWR single)
In round 1, I got a 9.19 average. I DNFed the first solve so I just did a mega safety to make finals
I wasn’t in a good mindset at all for the final, but I figured I’d just try my best again and see how it goes
The scrambles in this final for 7simul were insane. The first 3 scrambles especially, but the last 2 were still good nonetheless. I still think about if I just didn’t mess up the first one because it was literally a 6simul solve
(Also taking this opportunity to congratulate @Jack_Corr for his crazy Irish NRs, over a second drop in both of his PRs since last comp which wasn’t even a month ago!)
The counting 3.77 got me so excited and really really nervous at the same time. I tried to just calm down to do the last 2 solves, which ended up terrible lmao
To be completely honest, I am still satisfied with this average despite the counting 3, as this was probably the most shaky I’ve ever been and I didn’t succumb to it too badly
Funny thing is last 2 solves would’ve been DNFs if I didn’t check the back lmao, the 7.07 and 5.91 included time of me fixing the other side
Anyway I’m so overjoyed and relieved to say that I’ve broken the mental barrier of sub 6 which haunted me for so long, and I finally feel excited to compete in this event more in the future because I think I’m capable of much more
Thank you so much to everyone who made this comp possible, I feel like I’ve learnt a lot from it and it was great to catch up with friends again. This is the best way I could’ve ended my competing for the year
