I think it's weird everybody keeps missing Ahti says Alan wrote him into the story. Ahti a powerful supernatural being was forced into this thing is awesome. Not only that if you play Control 1 and think about when they said Ahti appears and it lines up with the end of Alan Wake one when he goes "It's an ocean" and Ahti is the god of oceans. Not to mention during control 1 Ahti says he is going on vacation and leaves a post card stating he is heading for Bright falls. If Alan is strong enough to get Ahti in the story, I think Alan may be the strongest amongst them. It isn't in my opinion that Alan wrote Ahti in the story. More like Thomas Zane wrote Ahti in his film Nightless Night. Also Ahti probably just went with it like Mr. Door said he went along with Alan's writing implying he didn't have to. Also Ahti seems to be more like stabilizing force between the fights of light and darkness in the universum (in the sea of multiverse) hence the god of sea. That's why you see him guiding the player like a sailor in the sea.

So even though we see another version of Return in this game, I have a strong feeling that the entirety of Alan Wake 2 is supposed to be the overarching plot's Initiation. Alan has not yet been able to escape truly but by the end it seems like he has gained the tools and knowledge he needs to finally make it happen. My favorite kind of second act endings (near the end of a character's initiation) are the ones where the characters are physically worse off than they've ever been but have gained something (knowledge, power, friendship) that gives them the will to push through to the ending. We now have even more people trapped in the dark place, but collectively they've got a lot of skills between them and now know quite a bit about the way things operate down there Running with this interpretation makes me really like the ending. It's not a loop, it's a spiral.
I wonder...they must save a lot of money with having so much live action scenes instead of rendering FMV etc. Quite smart and makes them a bit more unique compared to many other studios.

I saw the "plot twist" coming a mile away. Anybody who stopped and thought "how is there 2 Alan wakes and why is the one I'm playing in the dark place." Could peace it together easily. Its just I'm confused about how Alan played himself so easily and what he meant by "its a spiral" at the end.
I just understand the « spiral » thing like there is a real end when he can finally escape now that he knows that fact. Cuz if it’s a loop, there’s not an actual end ? It’s just repeating no ??? (I really try to understand but I mean if we don’t have an alan wake 3 idk if we are gonna get it)
The fact time in dark place doesnt work the same as our world (which is stated multiple times in the game) helps hide the twist. Heck when we met "alan" for the first time on the lake shore, both alan and scratch are still in the dark place
@@ulterryea you right, saga even said it by the lake close to the end that Alan is Scratch. So I think more so, that darkness was inside Alan's head, like a split personality, up until the darkness lost its host, then reconnected to Casey as the new host

I loved alan wake as a teen, fighting dark creatures with the light...yet I'm quite disappointed that the sequel is not the ending of the story but it's like an extended side story...
At first I wasn’t a big fan of the game! I didn’t know how I felt! But as I sank deeper and deeper into feel in love with everything! By the end of the game I was clinching onto my seat and wanting more! Please make Alan wake 3 now
Saga = Trinity Alan = Neo Alice = The Oracle Mr Doors = The Merovingian Zane = The Architect Ahti = The Keymaker The Dark Presence/Scratch = Mr Smith The spiral= The cycle Mr Doors and Ahti even talk about moving between realities, just as The Merovigian and Keymaker did. Alice talks of having to manipulate Alan to reset the spiral, just as The Oracle does. Scratch has to take over a human host to try and escape, just as Mr Smith did. Zane talks about "ascending" and escaping the loop rather than resetting it, just as The Architect did. I'm amazed more people cant see this ha
Hello, I have a suggestion, since Alan Wake is the center of all this loops, every loop Alice, Tom, Saga, even Jessy all the story's are converging eventually to Alan Wake, and we know that Alan has many powers, some of them is to see the throughout the time it self, my suggestion is maybe the reason why the other characters of the store have power similar to his is because his the one how gave them some of his power by righting theme in his story, it's a loop Alan see the time whether the past (Tom, the Anderson brothers) present (Saga, Alex, Jessy) or the future where those people have power he right theme having those powers they end up with those powers which will concluded in Alan Wake going in to the dark place, which will puch Alan to right theme this way and the loop is closed.
life) - but a bit of change and not “looping”’creates the light they seek and to break the chain. You see this with Alan, Casey, saga , etc. it seems like the writers wanted to make this into a game about searching for the intuition to be present and not continue over thinking in a loop as an analogy to the real life we can find ourselves in. The darkness seems to be an analogy for the darkness we can pay attention to or simply shine a light on to dissipate. You hear Alan say multiple times “ the dark place works in loops and rituals” - these rituals being the ocd habits of repeating the same actions hoping for a different result. As we do as humans at times. Also, toward the end of the game saga is stuck in her own mind - the game had gradually led her to lose faith in her own belief more and more and doubt her story (if her kid was dead) - such as an analogy to life and faith and self doubt - just some thoughts - I thought it was brilliant if that’s what they intended - Atleast I’m happy to have gained that from this art work!
Even tho I loved playing this game I didn’t understand shit about the story. It was extremely confusing and I didn’t get much, so thanks for Videos like this haha
Neat idea but could you take Alan's book 2, Initiation, as the literal representation of this game? He describes initiation as a process, the gateway between the beginning and the end. The end credits of this game have Alice in the dark places, helping Alan navigate out. This game is that process, this is book 2 initiation. Book 3 return, could be the biggest hint at an Alan Wake 3 being the final installment in Alan's journey.
Need dlc, for warlin door side in all this…especially since tim breaker didn’t even leave the dark place yet 😢 or maybe he did when they fixed the ending. So many questions after i finished the game
So, in the game you can read lore about the cult of the tree and learn that they are actually "good guys". They are fighting the darkness in their own way, but the cult members are protected by a darkness shield, what is up with that? Or am i misunderstanding something?
Its because they just like other people can in fact become taken and that's it Plus they weren't professionals just a bunch of guys trying to protect the town and then this shit started again most of them likely couldn't resist the darkness
I got a bit disappointed with this ending, after all this years i was waiting for a ending to Alan's story, instead, it got very similar to American nightmare.
The ending is a bit stretch. There is no plan B, what if Alan's death doesn't change for the better? There is no way to fix it. But if Saga will be the sacrificing hero, Alan might still have a chance to fix it. well, I do know that due to being minority and woman, she can't be the sacrifice, which weaken the believability of the story in my opinion though.
I'm guessing some Mr.Door DLC around the corner! Many open answers to fill in. And with the connected Remedy universe, the future is bright. Imo the last act felt a bit rushed, compared to the overall pacing of the other chapters, but still one of the best story driven adventures out there! I never buy games on launch as most companies are there to disappoint, but Remedy has it under CONTROL ;) Can't wait for another Sam Lake adventure, Max Payne anyone?
There was so many times where I was pretending to be a John Wick, and shooting ghosts. They need to make a John Wick game like this not like John Wick hex
You do realize the game literally ends with Logan not answering the phone right? And the fact that its implied that Tim Breaker has seen Jesse Faden in the dark place and is looking for Warlin Door, who is heavily suggested to be Sagas father? There are literally so many loose ends the fact that you dont think this is a cliffhanger is baffling
I dont think that there enough evidence backing up idea of Alice creating the Dark Place. The power to bring life to the works of art comes from the Dark Place. Alice while she created her exhibition wasnt in the Dark Place herself and as far as we know she didnt obtain any object of power such as the Clicker which could give her artworks powers to change reality or to create one (such as the Dark Place). In other words, this theory has cause-and-effect problem which has nothing to do with time loops and leaves a question: By what means Alice's works of art could create the Dark Place? P.S. I also tend to believe that Tim Breaker and Warlin Door are going to be characters in their own title.
writers wife made suicide and that caused the writer to go into a dark place, writing twisted stories as a coping mechanism to work with emotions, but being incapable of making good ending to the story and just spiraling repeating the same story but with minor tweaks while healing and seeing another ways to advance both in story and in his emotions to get away from depression aka dark place
I'm conflicted with the game. Alan's sections were the most interesting story wise and visually incredible. But his gameplay was boring 80% of the time with almost no worthwhile puzzles and lacking enemy variety and encounters (no bosses. Wtf). And the power ups you find don't actually have a significant impact. I was invested in Alan's story since the first game, and was eager to see how he ultimately escapes from the dark place. I liked his story overall, but he still felt sidelined in his own game. Saga's sections are the opposite. Fun exploration, meaningful upgrades, some fun optional puzzles, better enemies and some bosses. Meanwhile I just don't enjoy Saga's character. Game largely has a serious tone, but she behaves much more like a highschool teenager than an FBI agent while cracking corny jokes like it's a recent Marvel movie. This just made me miss Barry Wheeler who actually had a fun personality and funny jokes. I was baffled that Saga just knows everything with no logical ways to her conclusions. Example, she asks where Nightingale came from, and she immediately knows he came from the lake. I mean, the player knows that since we saw it. But Saga wouldn't know that. It just seemed like a lazy mechanic to keep the plot moving. Sure, there is a story reason in how she just knows things... But honestly it's not a good reason. It's also disappointing that Saga ended up being the one to fight Scratch. Alan has been scared of him for a while, and it would've been an amazing arc if he faced his fear head on.
Now that they're funded by Epic, I don't think we'll have to wait that long. I also would bet that the story for 3 is nearly complete. They had the story for 2 already laid out a decade ago.

it's a great game with great acting and great plot progression, amazing visuals, and very tight narrative progression. HOWEVER... This is the first game from Remedy that doesn't have a self.contained story... it's entirely a setup for a bigger story... The first game was self.contained with a beginning and end but left room open for more stories. same with Control, Quantum Break.... this one is sequel bait. Not like Remedy at all.

16:41 i had to replay these few seconds in a loop to understand the loop.
Then again, its not a loop, its a spiral.
I think i am losing it.
Thats just the dark place… or not.. youre actually awake.. oh fuck im in it too
I saw the "plot twist" coming a mile away.
Ah yes the typical "I saw it all along" Horror Movie/game comment.
@@UltimegaSeven anybody with more than 2 Braincells could see that "twist" coming a mile away. It honestly would have been MORE surprising if it had actually been 2 Alan's. If you honestly were shocked at that "twist" then you must lack critical thinking skills.
Thanks for explanation. so it means i am alan wake.
Yes!!!! Thats the idea… youre writing their fate
Dude I restarted my checkpoint after the ending. I legit didnt think it was the real ending & thought it was one of those loops & you were supposes to load continue again lmao
Amusingly Sam Lake is not only the model for another game character Max Payne he’s also the writer of Max Payne AND Alan Wake!
Yo gamersualt can you make one about the coffin of Andy and Leyley part 2?
No
I loved alan wake as a teen, fighting dark creatures with the light...yet I'm quite disappointed that the sequel is not the ending of the story but it's like an extended side story...
Amazing Video GamerSault Also Suggest Video Postal 2 STORY & ENDING EXPLAINED Pls.
At first I wasn’t a big fan of the game! I didn’t know how I felt! But as I sank deeper and deeper into feel in love with everything! By the end of the game I was clinching onto my seat and wanting more! Please make Alan wake 3 now
Saga = Trinity
Alan = Neo
Alice = The Oracle
Mr Doors = The Merovingian
Zane = The Architect
Ahti = The Keymaker
The Dark Presence/Scratch = Mr Smith
The spiral= The cycle
Mr Doors and Ahti even talk about moving between realities, just as The Merovigian and Keymaker did.
Hello, I have a suggestion, since Alan Wake is the center of all this loops, every loop Alice, Tom, Saga, even Jessy all the story's are converging eventually to Alan Wake, and we know that Alan has many powers, some of them is to see the throughout the time it self, my suggestion is maybe the reason why the other characters of the store have power similar to his is because his the one how gave them some of his power by righting theme in his story, it's a loop Alan see the time whether the past (Tom, the Anderson brothers) present (Saga, Alex, Jessy) or the future where those people have power he right theme having those powers they end up with those powers which will concluded in Alan Wake going in to the dark place, which will puch Alan to right theme this way and the loop is closed.
makes sense. Every character is part of the writer.
Control and alan wake 2 is in my all time favorites, we need to protect remedy at all cost
Well, guess we all just have to be satisfied with Jesse in Control 2

life) - but a bit of change and not “looping”’creates the light they seek and to break the chain.
Is it just me, or does he looks like john wick?
Great explanation... You actualt explain the story instead of just repeat it which sti what most youtube video is doing
Even tho I loved playing this game I didn’t understand shit about the story. It was extremely confusing and I didn’t get much, so thanks for Videos like this haha
Please let there be a Garth Marenghi reference or two.
I thought it was a John Wick video for a sec there. Lol
John Wick 2 story and ending explained.
Music/theme - where was it from? I know I know it, but can't recall at all... lost in the ocean of melodies of the mind.
I'm loving this
Neat idea but could you take Alan's book 2, Initiation, as the literal representation of this game? He describes initiation as a process, the gateway between the beginning and the end. The end credits of this game have Alice in the dark places, helping Alan navigate out. This game is that process, this is book 2 initiation. Book 3 return, could be the biggest hint at an Alan Wake 3 being the final installment in Alan's journey.
I miss BARRY
Need dlc, for warlin door side in all this…especially since tim breaker didn’t even leave the dark place yet 😢 or maybe he did when they fixed the ending. So many questions after i finished the game

My favorite game of 2023.
41:24 same.
What other games should gamersault explained next in your opinions? Comment down below
So, in the game you can read lore about the cult of the tree and learn that they are actually "good guys". They are fighting the darkness in their own way, but the cult members are protected by a darkness shield, what is up with that? Or am i misunderstanding something?
I don't really remember reading about them being good guys. Or maybe i have a real short memory
Its because they just like other people can in fact become taken and that's it
Plus they weren't professionals just a bunch of guys trying to protect the town and then this shit started again most of them likely couldn't resist the darkness
I never buy games on launch as most companies are there to disappoint, but Remedy has it under CONTROL ;)
Can't wait for another Sam Lake adventure, Max Payne anyone?
damn already a story break down u on it
Ngl, this story is kinda confusing as hell to keep up with.
There was so many times where I was pretending to be a John Wick, and shooting ghosts. They need to make a John Wick game like this not like John Wick hex
Game does not end on a cliffhanger. People are not paying attention to the games themes and character arcs.
I like the part where you said whether the girl lives
You do realize the game literally ends with Logan not answering the phone right? And the fact that its implied that Tim Breaker has seen Jesse Faden in the dark place and is looking for Warlin Door, who is heavily suggested to be Sagas father? There are literally so many loose ends the fact that you dont think this is a cliffhanger is baffling
Do you know what setting up the next title is? thats exactly it. The ending makes perfect sense, its not a loop, its a SPIRAL.
@@domred8876thats basical the Definition of a Cliffhanger
@@BatrickPateman430wait he saw Jesse Faden? He says that?? I was sleepy playing that part
I definitely think Tim is gonna be the main character for the Night Springs DLC. He's always humming the theme song lol
Is that John Wick
Hello there
The game was just too blurry and hurted my eyes to the point that it was unplayable.
my brain mind and soul hurts
DAT ASS. Its driving me nuts, like it's AI or something LOL.
With Alice mentally tortured to her own death why the fuck would Alan care what happens to the world going forward????
A bit disappointed to wait 13 years with no conclusion to the story and with the main character becoming a supporting character by the end.

Awesome game, but the ending really sucked. Wtf? Wonder if we have to wait another 13 years for AW3. In the meantime, they can put out a Control 2.
Now that they're funded by Epic, I don't think we'll have to wait that long. I also would bet that the story for 3 is nearly complete. They had the story for 2 already laid out a decade ago.
the 2nd DLC is direct continuation of this ending.
i hate this ending.. god lord!
LAZY AS FUCK! the game is kinda a rollercoaster..
performance problems, A LOT OF game breaking BUGs.
The ending i simply rush.. and when i came to SAGA last investigation on her mind. i simply watch the ending on youtube.. i'm done with the PAPER DRAG SIMULATOR..
the fact that they push all this investigation on her mind, make kinda sense on the story, but man.. is LAZY to... almost all the investigation on the game is OK..
but this final, didnt like.. is a "captain obvious" moment.. and this goes on and on..
VERY disaponted!
I Hope remedy make the final chapter with a very great story and gameplay, control realy took me.. is a VERY good game!
AW2 on a few moments is very good but on most of the game, is MEHHH
Shame..
I dont think the story is that good tbh.
it's a great game with great acting and great plot progression, amazing visuals, and very tight narrative progression. HOWEVER... This is the first game from Remedy that doesn't have a self.contained story... it's entirely a setup for a bigger story... The first game was self.contained with a beginning and end but left room open for more stories. same with Control, Quantum Break.... this one is sequel bait. Not like Remedy at all.
Loved playimg both Alan Wake 1 and 2 but not a fan of the ending for Alan Wake 2. As for the journey of the game not a fan of Saga/ her family minus Oden and Tor ofcourse. Gameplay wise was not a fan of the Resident Evil inventory system and not a fan of the limited save files.
My brain hurts. What's happening
I thought the ending was totally disrespectful to my time playing through the game.
Was anybody else bothered by how they butchered saga's character during the ending? They made her racist and then gave her the Marvel treatment
That's her character throughout the game. They just give it extra obligatory flexes as you near the end to really hammer it home
