Speaking about John Paul the Great, I remember when I read these first words from his first encyclical, Redemptor Hominis (4 March 1979): "The Redeemer of Man, Jesus Christ, is the centre of the universe and of history." There was something truly exciting (and refreshing) about reading such a proclamation of our divine faith made "without apology" to the world. It is a profession which, sharing in the audacity of the LORD, encompasses everything.
