Great story! I majored in police science for a short time back in the early seventies. Didn't take me long to see the "us and them" mentality, even in the classroom. Thanks for crashing through that wall!!!.

Thank you for sharing this story. I don’t belong to a MC, but I have the upmost respect for the traditions and rules that surround the MC culture.
I’ve come across a few MCs during my years of riding and they have always demonstrated the same respect I gave to them.
Thank you for your commitment to tell it like it is. You demonstrate what motorcycle riding and being a man is all about.
    Respect.

Thanks for the story Fingers. I got my first bike just after I got married. I bought a 750 Yamaha shaft drive right off the showroom floor for. $1, 800. That was our only transportation for the next few years. I drove that thing all year round. We took it from Boone, NC in the heart of the Appalachian mountains to Minnesota across Canada, down the west coast and back. I finally sold it for $1,800 when my girl got pregnant. Had to get a car. I'm 70 years young now and I'm getting ready to buy a Harley. The kids are grown up. I need to get back on two wheels. God bless you bro. I say that because I think I like you. 🍩 I'm a Viet Nam vet and I've never cared much for cops. But I do respect them, more now than ever. That donuts for you. Lol

My first time riding a motorcycle with a clutch was my dads 2007 Harley Davidson sportster and I remember as a kid I was growing up seeing him ride it and all I wanted to do was ride that motorcycle, I turn 16 and my dad finally say “hey I’ll let you ride my bike if you think you can handle it” so I ride it and I loved it I loved the way it rumbled and the way it felt it was an amazing feeling, then a couple months later we go to this place where it’s just a long stretch of road about a mile or 2, and I just enjoyed the ride and I completely forgot that my parents were in my dads truck right behind me following me making sure I was safe, I completely left the world and i truly felt what it was like to be free, the end of the road comes up and my dad hops out is the truck to help me turn the bike around considering I wasn’t really that big and I was barely strong enough to keep it up right while at a stand still, we turn around and keep going back the way we came from and these two dogs come out and start chasing me and I don’t want them following me so I speed up to lose them and I’m the process I completely forget that up ahead of me is a speed bump and I didn’t realize there it was until I was 2 feet away from the bump and as soon as I hit it it bucked me off the seat and if I wasn’t wearing my helmet I would’ve had a bad scar on the right side of my face but I dude have some bad marks on me arm and my back and a really bad cut in my knee which had me limping for almost 2 months, but as my dad told me “it’s gonna happen it’s just a matter of when it’ll happen, but at least it happened while you were young and not old”

Great Story @fingersjauch! Yeaaaah, That was unnecessary what those officers did. If they didn’t have probable cause, they shouldn’t have dismantled the bike. I’m glad you were motivated to get into law enforcement though, it made the world a better place!
My first time being picked up by police also stemmed from me doing nothing wrong. I attended a prestigious high school for intellectually gifted children in Philadelphia. I ran cross country for the school (very poorly I might add). One day during practice after school, l took my customary shortcut through the school lawn. Two plainclothes detectives spotted me, and approached me. They asked for my identity which I provided. They said they didn’t believe me when I told them I attended the high school. I informed them the coach was inside, and to verify it with him. They refused, and insisted on taking me to the station. As I was still a juvenile, they asked for my parents information. I gave them my Dad’s work number.
Before long, they came back in the interview room and ask me, “Who is your Father?” I told them my Dad’s name. What they didn’t know (nor did I) was my Father knew the Mayor, personally. Before long, my Father stormed in the Detectives Offices and shouted, “Where’s my SON?!?!” They said respectfully, “Here he is Mr. Cox.” My Dad responded, “What the FUCK DID YOU ARREST MY SON FOR?”
They stated “He fit the description of a suspect.”
My Dad said, “You’re SUPPOSED to be DETECTIVES, You DUMB BASTARDS!! Couldn’t You SEE he’s wearing a high school sweatshirt? You could’ve Verified it with his Coach!! Give me the GOD DAMNED FINGERPRINT CARDS!!” They gave them to my Dad, and he Tore them UP and threw them on the floor at their feet! I thought they were going to shoot both my Dad and Me!!
We walked out of there, and I learned a lesson that day about the importance of political connections, that I NEVER FORGOT!!
Many years later, I went on to become Police .

As long as i can remember my uncle Tommy rode motorcycles. Honda Monkeys that he tuned and modified to support his weight. He always stood out at family gatherings because he always wore dark t shirts and jeans which stood out from my other relatives.
Due to the facr that he lived about 30 miles away from us, i only saw him on special days such as birthdays and so only found out he was a baca member when about 200 of these guys showed up to the funeral. His hearse was accompanied by those bikes.

1st bike was a 76 Kawasaki KZ650. Didn't run, was going to be a project, had to sell it to move before I got a chance. Finally decided I needed a bike again, picked up a Honda Shadow Phantom. It might be a metric, but it's what I can afford, and it is MINE. After waiting so long to finally get my bike, I understand the feelings for it. That thing is my baby. Never thought I would be so attached to an inanimate object, but man, I couldn't imagine. Glad the story had a good ending! Kind of like a Phoenix, rising from the ashes.

My first encounter with an OMG-I grew up in South Florida and I remember going to the beach , I believe it was Crandon Park Beach and there were bunch of bikes in the parking lot and nearby were these guys sporting a patch- Pagans. They were regulars at the beach on weekends in those days then they sort of disappeared by the mid seventies. About that time I was hearing war stories odf a new OMG called the Outlaws upon Ft Lauderdale. I was wondering if the Pagans abrupt disappearance from the beach scene was due to the arrival of the Outlaws. Big Jim Nolan was the President of the South Florida Club then.

First bike ride was just sitting on a neighbor’s bike in my dads arms, I was too young to ride on the back but I vividly remember saying “I want to ride it” and seeing the huge smile when my dad had when he rode it. 🤙🏼 I have an 86 FXRS Statue of Liberty Edition and man nothing is better than these Alabama backroads, we are certainly blessed on the plains here in Auburn

I’m also a big time hiker and that is the very area I’m planning a trip to next, I’ve hiked 92 miles of the Pinhoti in Talledega National Forest so views of our surroundings are my passion, the ride from Hwy 7 out of Goodwater to Hwy 148 has a gem of a view, I accidentally found it heading to one of my trailheads to hike so I had to jump on the bike and go see it again🤙🏼

My first encounter was with the Bandidos in South Texas. They always did toy drives around Christmas. One of the original members would come by to see my dad at the shop he worked at. My dad noticed that the Panhead he was riding did not sound right. It was a Saturday, and I was with Pop (my dad). My dad got his tools out and and they started by pulling the carb and working on it. Long story short, when the Bandido left, it flew!! These men and Hispanic friends in South Texas taught me the respect code. With respecting others, that are many times very different, you usually get respect back. You disrespect, you dig your own grave.

Great story Finger's, actually broke my heart and I can relate. i'm 41 and although I have multiple vehicles I could give a crap less for any of them but my bikes, particularly my Night Train. I live in the Northeast and to this day will ride up into the winter months as long as there isn't ice on the roads. Not because I think I'm some badass biker, just because it's truly the one thing that I love more than life itself. i also have gotten used to being profiled when riding a harley all blacked out in leather and chaps when any sane person is in a cage with heat on, summers are a lot easier and seems like it's more of a norm but if you're an ice rider and you're not on an adventure bike, you must be up to no good. Thanks for being a better person and rising above pettie profiling.

Welp, im 41 years old and I just started riding this year. I wanted a motorcycle when I was 16 but my parents were very adamant that I was not going to have one and be living under their roof. I made a couple decades worth of bad decisions and never really had the money to invest in a motorcycle....which is probably a good thing considering the rough company I found myself keeping even without being on two wheels. But, I have a 97 harley softail and I am really happy that I can finally enjoy riding.

On a more humorous note... My ex-fiance put me into a concrete median in the middle of a highway in her car doing about 65 mph and completely shattered my right arm. Now I've got titanium rods and screws keeping my arm together LOL I got about $20, 000 from the insurance company for my pain and suffering after all the lawyers and medical bills and shit I had about 12, 000 left over... I use the majority of that money to replace the car that she totaled. I had about $5, 000 left over. Needless to say I wanted to buy my first motorcycle. To keep a headache of a story short LOL the boss (my fiance) said I couldn't own a motorcycle. because I love her and I respected her decisions along with my own I figured I'll wait. There was more important things to buy than a motorcycle. So I built a "race car" instead. I put a lot of time and effort into making a 1996 Honda Civic hatchback into a "400hp 2000ld wtf was that machine" 😁 and after it was finally finished I drove it for approximately 5000 miles made some money off to the races too. Right around the time my motor turned over 5000 miles on the dash she left me for reasons I don't need to get into. Needless to say that car was sold for another $5, 000 in less than a week. And I bought my mother's 2000 Harley Davidson Super Glide. One of the last carbureted 88 evos. And since that day I take every chance and every excuse to be on those two wheels and I feel more at home and more satisfied then I ever could doing a 150-200mph on 4 wheels. And I don't think I'll ever sell this bike

Sorry that happened to you man. Wonderful story. Beautiful bike. Glad you atleast got it back.
My first encounter was none of a negative. I used to work a concrete job and made a good friend in an old man, named bones. Well he lived right next door to a pagan owned bar. So every Friday we would go in for a few drinks before I would go home. There was an older guy there he grew up with, that was an old pagan. Very down to earth old head. So wed buy him drinks and he's buy us drinks and share a laugh. The pagans from time to time would come in an sit n drink or handle shit behind the bar. Not much of a story to tell but technically that was my first encounter with clubs.
I also have a buddy in a New York based outlaw club down here in pa, and hung with them a few times and him and ride with, and was asked to prospect (which I turned down, due to my family life) but now this is or was years after the pagan thing. Your story is better lol

Man I was getting really upset at what happened to you but everything in life has a purpose. I have been riding motorcycles since I was in 6th grade and I rode until I moved to Nashville from Charlotte to go to College in 1982. As it goes, life happens and I married my wife and we had kids and she didn't want me to ride so I didn't for 30 years. I missed it so much but my daughter left for Tennessee Tech this year and I told my wife how much I wanted to ride again. My son also likes to ride and he found an old Vulcan a guy had laid down one time and never got back on. He had it in a shed and it was filthy from dust but it didn't have any rust but didn't run. My son loves to wrench and so he fixed it and rode it around a while. I was at my grandsons birthday party an he had it all polished up looking brand new with 6k miles on it. I got on it and it fit me like a glove and I thought wow this would be a perfect bike for me to get back into riding. I told my wife how much it would mean to me to have an old bike like that and she amazed me and said well get one then. She told my son how much I loved it and he said Pops we are buying a house and I need some money so if you give me what I have in it I will sell it to you. So with that I had a beautiful V twin cruiser and I got my endorsement and started riding again. Fingers it's just so relaxing man. I plan little trips around middle Tennessee (if you have not ridden here it's just wonderful). I love your stories and I really loved this one. God Bless

My first bike that I could legally ride in the street was a Yamaha Enduro a early 80's model was a piece of crap that I hauled hay and broke horses to get the money to buy it the guy screwed me a 14 year old kid . But I was proud of that bike . Some guys I grew up knowing took it and rebuilt it repainted it and it was bad as hell all for free . They were all part of a Kansas club . These guys some wee hard working welders and such in the.piwer plant otheres not so much but they taught me how to ride , work on my cars and fight and drink and fish and hunt and so much more . They put a boot in my ass several times when I hot way out of line . Not all good guys but treated a few of us local kids like gold . Best memories I have growi g up still have that bike it's beaten but I still love it . Although I may disagree with some of what you did or say I do respect you as well .

Hey fingers when I first bought by 50 FL Panhead first bike ever rode, rigid frame shotgun exhaust loud an A squeezy horn squeeze real hard maybe you could hear it the first year and a half maybe two years little beyond I was getting pulled over quite a bit I just learn how to fix it and I did, check this out I have a hot rod with small block Chevy my Harley fouled out the rear plug it was missing bad, looked at the spark plug pulled one from the 40 side by each same threads same length so I used it it work great also the points and condenser on my Panhead and small block Chevy fits great, so now I know Chevrolet small block some parts will work on Harley but back to getting stoped, my number nine on the engine boss was double stamped! sitting on the curb and cuffed up, cop he smiling thinking it’s a stolen bike he’s on the radio looking at me after a while close to 45 minutes or one hour I’m still there, Sergeant pulled up And gave me a hard look so I gave him one back! they both were talking looking at me I’m thinking to myself I’m going to jail shit! I know it’s over an hour I feel it on my ass damn curb is hard and cold well they both came back looked at me some more stood me up Took the bracelet off give me back registration drivers license and said you can go now!! kick started second kick i’m gone, turned out Harley Davison double stamped the nine it was verified and documented after that when I got stopped it’s like the other cops told these cops now they’re messing with me so I know the nine is double stamped, that being said I’ve sat on the curb many times afterwords because of that double stamped nine, Fixed it up Drove it for 22 years, after a paint job stitched up my first motorcycle seat sissy bar taller ape hangers fishtails lots of blue chrome electric horn this time, from there on Hundreds of pictures of it me and my friends and strangers that we met on the road which became riding buddies well fingers, I have more details but you know how we are stand on that soapbox and talk forever about the bikes, ( you know ) will be watching for your next story, yours is a good one you’ll never forget that and neither will I, Wednesday I did watch your program it was busy customizing the gauge cluster for the 40 which I still have it’s 48 years old with me August 6 ???? Just finished mocking it up! Make sure everything works then I’m gonna drive it, no paint job yet, no custom interior, no-heater or a Radio no power steering I did put corvette disc brakes in the front it a 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe ( fords better idea powered by Chevrolet ) I made that up even have it on a jacket that’s in the car to piss off the Puritans. marked my calendar Wednesday! To hear-some more of your venture down Life’s Highways.🕶.

Eriberto - Hell yes! That's what I'm talking about! I love these stories man. It's the little details that come rushing back when you start talking about the past scooter stories. I would love to sit back with a few cold drinks and just have all the subscribers be able to tell some of the stories like yours. You know there has to be some hilarious stuff that went on. I really appreciate you giving that back story and I especially love how you talk about using your brain and not your wallet to fix the problem. Thanks again for all the support and keep on riding. Sheesh Fingers, after that if that would've happened to me, I might have hated cops forever. My older brother was harassed like this back in the day because he had an old '54 chevy and he painted flower power hippie signs all over it. (he looked like that kid from happy days, Ron Howard, and not a hippie at all)
Eventually my father went down to the cop shop and told them that if they continued there would be all sorts of trouble. He read those fuck heads the riot act. (in front of their boss)
You're an interesting human Fingers, like I said, that would make me hate cops for the rest of my natural life, but you turned it around and made something good out of it.
By the way, this story outraged me, made me really REALLY angry.

Thanks for the comment. I've always had an attitude of if you didn't do everything you could to make it right or fix it, then I didn't deserve to complain. By in large, I still try to keep to this ideology. I generally root for the underdog if the the underdog is on the right path.
Thanks again for swinging by and commenting. Stay safe.

This is NOT a shot at you. I found your story strange because of your reaction to the police. I was not raised to hate police. My dad has been a cop all my life. I had many similar run ins with them. They don’t care how badly their acting on a hunch might affect an honest man’s life. I grew very bitter towards them as a young man. I had one “officer” send me tumbling down a steep flight of stairs while cuffed just to run me in to check to see IF I had any warrants. I cooled over time.... I don’t hate cops. I will not tolerate a jack boot, but I don’t hate them. If they treat me with mild decency, I am down right friendly. But your story does reenforce for me that they have a long history of a culture problem that should be stopped. I don’t want them defunded, but if the problem is fixed, most of the protesters’ complaints will go away. The protesters are wrong, but we shouldn’t act like they have no reason to be upset. More cops should have your point of view. Have a good one and thank you. BTW, I have never had any affiliation with any club.
