Buster in the house, what a cutiee! Thanks for the video again, sir! You make me wanna kickstart my hobby again for real
Great work.
Thank you for watching my video.
I started watching your videos when I was a lot younger. Nice to see you are still building!
Thanks. I'm almost finished with the B-29. I will upload a video this week. 😃😃
Great video qdc, going to try Alclad on my mig-21.
Great! 😀
A W E S O M E made !!!
The Mustang looks also as an air-race machine !
So nice work done on it !
Fantastic result !!! You made a awsome good job 😍😍😍
Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for your kind words 😊
Very very very nice 👍🏻
Thank you for watching 😃😃
Cute cat, the plane's good too.
Thank you. I want to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas. 😃
I’m so glad you’re still making videos and working on these beautiful models! I used to watch you many years ago. Love your content, sir!
You're welcome 😃
Wow that’s amazing. Makes me want to build
Nice work QDC!
Yeh.. it turned out well. You made it look easy
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks. This is a fun hobby and I do make it look easier than it looks but my point is to encourage people to build their own model kits. I hope you build some kits. 😃 I already started building the Academy B-29. It's a good kit and it is fairly straight-forward to build. Take care.
@@qdc748a been building kits since about 1972 Spent most of that time crawling around the floor hunting the Carpet monster. Keep up the good work
@@MrPDoff Funny 😃. And thanks.
Glad to have been of help, it turned out really nice ! using the different Alclad shades of metal makes a huge difference to the realism of replaced panels. I have used Alclads for a few years now, but never on a plane, after seeing how this turned out I am definately going to give it a go. Can't wait to see how the B29 turnes out !
Great model!
Great result! I’m looking forward to the B29!
Same Too Bud
Thanks 😊
Love the video and the perfect paint job too. You are a talented hobbyist. Appreciate your time and effort. Just wish you were on YT showing your skills more often. Mike (Scotland)
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks Mike. I do have a life outside of the model kit building world. I've been uploading videos for a little over 10 years. My life has gone more complicated but I always find time for this hobby. I don't see that I will ever stop building. I already started building the Academy B-29. It's a good kit and it is fairly straight-forward to build. Take care.
@@qdc748a Sorry. Wasn't wanting to be confrontational by my expression ".... wish you were on YT more often." On the contrary, I have been a subscriber for the last 3 years or so and really enjoy your channel. I look forward to viewing your videos and can't wait to see your Academy B-29 build. Hope I haven't caused offence by my original post. Cheers and thank you. Mike
@@gartsherriejunction4643 Hi Mike, 😃 My original reply to you was never meant to be a negative comment. 😃 Sorry for the misinterpretation of my words. 😊

Sorry for the late reply. Thank you.
Hello there my friend that paint job is great I must try that paint one day. I look forward to seeing your next video all the best from here in the UK 👍🇬🇧😁
Sorry for the late reply. Alclad paints are good. There are other manufactures who make metal paints too but so far I like Alclad. I already started building the Academy B-29. It's a good kit and it is fairly straight-forward to build. Take care.
Ya, your ready for that B-29, Amazing.
Sorry for the late reply. Yes, I ready! I already started building the Academy B-29. It's a good kit and it is fairly straight-forward to build. 😃
Thanks for sharing another one of your builds, it surprisingly came good! Looking forward to your take on the B-29.
Awesome video! Nice to see Buster too!!
Thanks for watching
Looks great. The Alclad paints are really good.
👍😃
AMAZING WORK!!! Excellent.
Thank you. 😃
It looks good. Alclad paint really looks good. I haven't used them myself because I'm reluctant to use lacquers and respirators.
Wow that’s beautiful!!!
Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for your kind words.
came out pretty nice 👍
Thank you.
Awesome job. Looks great.
Thanks for your kind words 😊
The Mustang looks almost great. I’m sure if you make the B52 with Alclad it will be looking gorgeous. Your cat is so cute.
Very nice paint job. Shiny. B29 arriving!!!
Very Well done😊👍🏻looking Very much foreward to The B29. I have seen all your videos, and like Them Very much. Greetings from Denmark😊
Sorry for the late reply. It's nice to know you like watch all of my videos. I already started building the Academy B-29. It's a good kit and it is fairly straight-forward to build.
Another great quality job as usual, and i like how you were tapping your watch while the paint was drying. As a fellow model kit builder i too find one of the more annoying aspects of model building is the time spent waiting for the paint to dry before you can add the next coat of paint only to have to wait for it to dry again
You're welcome. I built the interior of the B-29 and tonight I will start painting it. Take care
Amazing end result as always! Love the cat sitting with you while you were painting 😂.
Sorry for the late reply. Buster lately has been wanting to hang out with me all the time. I don't know what has come over him. He wasn't like this before. I already started building the Academy B-29. It's a good kit and it is fairly straight-forward to build. Take care.
@@qdc748a thanks for the reply, my cat has been very loving recently as well😂. Looking forward to when you complete the B-29

@@qdc748a so your cat name buster?
Amazing what those paints can do... and you applied it correctly... looks absolutely stunning... I have about fifteen 1/48 P-47s i did in those paints all look awesome and your P-51 looks just as awesome!
Sorry for the late reply. I am impressed with Alclad so far. I think I will using it more often on my future airplane builds. Wow 15 P-17's. That's impressive. I already started building the Academy B-29. It's a good kit and it is fairly straight-forward to build.
@@qdc748a I really am waiting to see your finished B-29. Your 1/48 scaled one came out great.. well, you do awesome work anyway, but really looking forward to your 1/72 one painted in alclad. I built a 1/48 B29 too... only I made it Bockscar since that is what I saw at USAF Museum in Ohio. I painted it in Alclad. was my first with the paint.. came out nice but not as nice as my P-47s. haha..LOL... yeah I have an obsession for the Jug. 7 of the 15 P47s I built are bubble tops finished in Alclad I used the polished aluminum color. The others are olive drab razor backs.
@@ILSRWY4 This kit from Academy is actually good. It's basically a more modern version of the original Monogram B-29 kit. There's no fit issues I can find so far and I'm enjoying the build. The interior is nice. I plan to give it a good paint job and take pictures of it before I seal it up into the fuselage. I did get to see a real P-47 at my local airshow. It's a huge airplane for it's day! Take care.
Looking forward to the B-29 build.
Thanks. I think the B-29 should look decent.
@@qdc748a I know it will. Thanks for the tip on Alclad. Looks amazing.
nice job paint. Love the P-51
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks. I seem to like Alclad paints so far. The P-51 Mustang is a good plane. I should sell my soul to the devil to fly in it as a passenger. I already started building the Academy B-29. It's a good kit and it is fairly straight-forward to build. Take care.
soon as you upload a video I will check it out@@qdc748a

I really like that paint QDC!
Beautiful job, David ! Pity I can't use Alclad ! Bad Lungs . Busterzilla looks great ! He looks like he's on a mission , Destroy !!!! Hope you have a great week and looking forward to your B-29 build. I have one waiting to be built , have the SB-29 conversion for it. Right now I'm working on the Shilka ( using your build for reference) but having problems with the tracks. they keep on falling apart. Even with Tamiya cement ! Also have to get some Vietnamese markings , kit came without decals ( 2nd Hand) Take care, Tony
Thanks, Alclad chemicals can be harmful if you don't use safety measures. I hope that your Shilka will turn out good for you. 😃
Zvezda or dragon kit, it doesn't matter which kit, because the zvezda shilka is just a rebox of it. The shilka kit (same goes for every dragon kits released then and now) is notoriously known for having poor fittings and sometimes inaccuracies either with the model itself or the tracks. Be careful what kits you but next time, and hear my warning, dont buy kits from dragon. Its not fun anymore if you're having difficulties with the fittings or confused with mislabeled instructions.
@@mr.laughington5740 I wouldn't recommend to stop buying dragon, indeed the quality dropped quite a lot but there are still some good kits from dragon out there. To see what kit is worth buying and what isn't, then you should always first check scalemates (site with database about every model kit that is out there). Very helpful, nowadays every kit I buy, I check scalemates to see what year was it tooled, reviews, instructions, if it was rebox and sometimes photos of the completed model. Hopefully this helped ;-)
Great looking p-51, the alclad paints really brought it to life, I think that you got more than enough skill and knowledge to start the B-29, have fun my friend!
Ps: I see that buster will soon become a modeler aswell!
Very nicely done mate
❤
😊😊
Absolutely beautiful!
Nice 👍
In my opinion, the Academy Mustang is one of the better Mustang kits in 1/72, it used to be my favourite until Airfix released their new tooled Mustang in 1/72. It is a great little kit and you certainly did it justice, as always. Next time I build a Mustang in 1/72 I will try and drill out the gun barrels too, they look better for it.. :) Great shiny end result.. :) :)
Sorry for the late reply. You know what, I might build the Airfix version one of these days.
@@qdc748a You won't regret it.. :)
@@BasicModelling 👍😃
Beautiful paint job. Im lookin for the mustang h version in 1/48. At present, only ukrainian company Modelsvit released it but its hard to find.
Lovely kit i builded myself but unfortunate the decals were horrible and mostly completely desintegrated when applying. The B29 kit looks the part. 👍
Thank you very much for watching my videos and for your comments. I appreciate them
Quedo genial, yo tambien estoy aprendiendo a trabajar en acabados metalicos y requiere mas atencion a los detalles que la pintura normal. Saludos
Great job! Nice ! You made your first time Alclad look easy compared to mine. I am doing Model Svit 1/48 P51H in Alclad chrome on fuselage and tail feathers. Wings , I used RAF high speed silver over puttied filled panel lines. I am amazed at the Alclad chrome, I used over gloss black and it is a real game changer for me! The Model Svit Mustang is a Jewell of a kit, but difficult. It just so happens, the problems I have been having have been of my fault, as I seem to be going through a second phase of error making, meaning for re sanding, repaint again etc.. But I am seeing it through, and will have taken 10 times longer than it should have. I am curious, as to why is the Star and Bars decal on the right wing on your P51 here? Just wondered if instructions show location as optional change made in theater? Thaks
The cat though 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Looks Great! Did you have any problems with masking tape removing any of the airframe aluminum? What kind did you use?
I just used ordinary painters masking tape typically found at most local hardware stores. I didn't find any problems using it such as removing it. It went fine. 😃
...I think the gaps you had on both wings are in fact the built in dihedral on the Mustang Sir...I also have a feline workshop Manager - aren't they great company!! All the best, Dennis.
Very nice model..but i dont like airplanes.. you make very good model!very nice cat you have!
I like your video format you make them very possitev(i mean with humor)!
Good luck and have a good week!
Lot of improvement on the vid such as you add song but you can hear background.
very nice
Perfect. Beautifully done. Gorgeous finish. What would be the drying time between each coat?
I have used Alclads a lot... just a few minutes between coats... and the coats are very very thin... almost a mist each time. I put 2-3 coats were a enough.
When spraying a model, do you apply a coat of clear coat between different colours?
No, I didn't. 😃 I was following the directions that Alclad has made on their website. They didn't require any clearcoats between colors. 😃
@@qdc748a thanks again qdc, I owe you one. Just one more question. How do you get the paint in your airbrush to flow so smoothly? Every time I try and use my airbrush, it clogs and splatters. I was just thinking maybe you could do a quick airbrush tutorial. I'm sure many would appreciate it.👍👍
@@jackmunday7602 There are many variables that make an airbrush do that. I'm probably not the best person to ask. I'm sure there are real experts on UA-cam that can explain your issues. I am sorry that I can't be of any help. Sorry.
Looks fantastic - how many Alclad paints did you use? Im about the paint the Airfix version, this has been very useful thanks for sharing, cheers Liam
It's been years since I worked on this so I don't remember too clearly. I think I used four kinds of metallic paints. I'm sorry, but thank you watching my video. :)
You get the cat treatment too then.🤣🤣🤣
🤣
Cat is awesome
Are there other light metal alclad paints? Because the one you're using are kinda dark compared to other metal paints. Try buying the ammo by mig metal paint set, it comes in various shades.
Hi! what varnish do you use to protect the models (tanks)?
I think he uses Pledge Future Floor Wax.
I use Testors Dullcote.
Try Vallejo metal paints
I really don't know what to think about them. I really like their paints for most of time, but the metal colors are not convicing me enough to spray them on large models. I've built a Revell's P-47D using their regular aluminum color with gloss coating, but the results were not as great as it should look. So I bought metal series paints and painted Kovozavody's P-51C. It looked much better for sure, but untill I applied wash. I've done full riveting job and the metalising effects faded significantly. Maybe it's because of that riveting, most probably. I wonder how alclad would behave.
What was the music you used?
Maple Leaf Rag. You can find it free on UA-cam Editor.
Sounds way different than that
