How to MOMO Flush Mount Horn Button Mod (Full DIY)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 сер 2024
- Learn how to take a OEM JDM NSX-R MOMO horn button or any MOMO button with a "rounded lip" and convert it to a "flat lip" or flush mount style for a cleaner look. This was done for a MOMO hub mount, but the idea is the same for a Works Bell or NRG style hub and quick release (detailed at the end of the video).
My original DIY for this can be found on S2ki.com: www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-mod...

Good video. I’ve had the nsx-r horn button on for 20 years and just put some thick rubberbands around the button base and stuck it in my monte carlo. 😂
that's one way to do it!
cool mod! retrofitting stuff is rad, love to see 1-off stuff like this
Thanks! I agree. It’s a unique way to mount the commonly used Nsx-R horn button
Love the flush mount. It just looks so much sleeker.

All this work to make your car look like something it isn't. Kind of like wearing a fake Rolex. But you all do you it's not hurting anyone. Nice detail on the video.
I assume you're referring to the Honda button. It's not everyone's cup of tea, that's understandable. But this mod is applicable to many other horn buttons also, not limited to only the Honda button.
@@ChrisLumNSX I understand now after further research.
Very nice!
Thanks Regan!
you should use the other side of the retention ring, no need to cut it, ive done it.
Tried that before and no that won't work. The diameter of the other side is too big. You can see at 8:40 in my video that the diameter is larger than the flush mount horn button, therefore, bigger than the whole in the steering wheel. The stamped metal is "rolled over" on the other side, creating 2 different diameters, the smaller one (that the horn fits into) and a larger one that creates the strength of the stamped metal. If I flipped the retention ring over, the ring would not sit flush against the back of the steering wheel.
I’m trying to do the same but I have a nrg hub , will I have to do the same to the Momo retention ring or do I have to get a different one
It can be done on the nrg, the retention ring just looks different. At the end of the video I talk a little bit about the works bell type retention ring (which is the same as NRG). You can also google search for my diy on s2ki.com and see how I did it on my works bell hub.
hi, I also have to change the horn button and put the one with the Land Rover logo obviously they aren't ready-made on the market, what do you think I can do?
It will take some trial and error on your part to figure out what will work and what won’t. That’s how I figured it out. Just bought a bunch of horns and tried to mix and match parts.
I'm doing a research so i give it a try and 3d print the housing. But I'm finding out that the EUDM Momo horn button that i have... has a very similar design to the NSX-R! Is there a chance you can measure the diameter of the hole on the steering wheel? Thanks!
It’s about 55mm
What steering wheel is this? Looks epic
The one in the thumbnail is a spoon steering wheel and the one in the video is a Mugen steering wheel
Lmao I hear some F1 in the background. Boss.
I didn't have any F1 on in the background so was either the neighbor's kid screaming, which I KNOW for a fact can be heard in the video or exotics/bikes on the streets near my house hahaha
Hey bro whats the oem part number of the nsx button
Updated the link in the description, thx!
Is that the actual momo retainer ring? I see others that don't have that bulge on the flat side that should allow flush mount without sanding down the lip.
Yes it’s momo.
I've recently done this with a momo Monte Carlo and the retainer ring didn't require any sanding at all, they must've changed it for the steering wheels that come with a flush horn.
@@ChrisLumNSX ok. i got one with the nrg quick release or with the adapter i ordered and it's completely flat so i flipped it over, stuck the horn in and used the spring clip that came on the horn to push the little plastic tabs outward and it worked great. At first i couldn't figure out what to do with the round spring clip. I was thinking it was supposed to go around the outside of the horn to hold it in the retainer ring, but it actually goes around the inside. Some instructions sure would be nice for us dummies.😁
@@omairahmad6846 Yup, this mod is just for the style of MOMO wheel that don't already have the flush mount horn.
@@mooosestang glad you figured it out!
I must have installed mine wrong on my civic because mines is flush mounted without this mod 😅
Haha grab a NSX-R button and you can have the joy of doing this mod! 😬
Actually u can do that with the momo retainer ring that comes with the steering wheel, but if u observe carefully, there'll be like 1.5mm gap..
Simple buy one Momo low profile horn retainer ring.
Those don't seem to be readily available in the US for some reason. I'll have to order one from overseas if i can't find one on our shores. Regardless, 90% of people use a Works Bell/HKB/NRG style hub which doesn't work with the momo retainer rings (standard or low) so some type of modification is usually involved.
First
Don't waste your time or energy sanding any of the retention rings be it Momo or nardi or any brand all you need is a 4.5mm flush mount steering wheel spacer w/ 6 bolt hole pattern then place it between hub and back of wheel and done many available to purchase online for this exact purpose 🤦
When I search, I can only find the dude that custom laser cut a plastic 4.5mm spacer, but if you see any, feel free to post a link. Thanks!
u lose the horn tho
@@Jack-mp4dj Nope just use one of the many other grounding solutions that isn't the ring there are tons of options
