Freshwater Sponges Invading Koi Pond

In this video we take a look at a bunch of freshwater sponges that appear to be colonizing my koi pond, filtration, and upper wildlife pond. These sponges started popping up this year and appear to have encrusting, clumping, and even somewhat branching growth forms as they have adapted to different surfaces and flow environments throughout the system.
My best guess is that these are spongilla lacustris, but if anyone has any further knowledge/experience with these I'd love to hear from you in the comments!
