Then was beat to death by a bouncer at a niteclub because he was combative. All this after his world wide success. How could this happen to such a giant and musical genius? Where were his friends? Where was his family? Why did no one come to his aid? It's really hard to understand as a bass player myself who was inspired by him as is probably every bass player in the world today.

I'm glad I got to see such a raw footage of Jaco enjoying music and hanging out. And if you know Jaco, you'd know he'd be the last person to care for this footage being out.
I think a "well" Jaco was probably a bit more humble, mannered, considerate, loving and kind Jaco. He was a very sensitive person to have written the beautiful songs that he did. Would not be fair to judge Jaco entirely upon this video alone! This is Jaco coming apart, not who Jaco was when he was whole. This is such a tradgedy for his loved ones and the world of music! And such a sorry unfair loss for all of us! I cried along with them at the news and wondered how such things could be so! His children are so lovely and living testaments of the deepness of his love.
+PeakResetProductions Well, he's just drunk here. The disturbing thing is that he had a form of manic depression where both sides can come up almost simultaneously, instead of having a period of depression followed by a manic period. If you watch the video you can almost see it. We think way to lightly about mental illness. I had an anxiety disorder (waaay less serious than Jaco's illness), but thats when I truly knew how seriously we should take people with mental disorders.
+PeakResetProductions alcohol combined with a genetic acute bi-polar disorder is a bad combination. he could have flipped and started tearing up the room
+deetgeluid this is not just drunk, he was not doing good here, and just because someone messes up later on in life doesnt give people the right to say i don't respect them as a person, because that is NOT who they are
***** I never said that i do not respect him. I respect everbody. Especially people who struggle with such deaseases or disorders. But, i am not sure how much of what jaco created was really of jaco or simply the desease?? Same goes for Jim Morrison. How much of what he created was really him and what was the drugs?? Would Morrison have been creative at all if he was sober?? so i do respect that, but i cannot idolize it!!!
Actually Jaco was more or less straight edge during his peak years. It was only AFTER he started drugs & alcohol that his condition & playing deteriorated. So the Jim Morrison allusion is not totally appropriate. You could never have been high & did the kind of playing early on he did. Or sit down & write full big band orchestra charts. The drugs never did Jaco any favors, unlike 70's psychedelic rock artists who didn't have to focus quite as intently
He's wasted. How sad. What a sad ending for a life. Homeless, broke, wasted, and finally beaten to death by a bouncer after smashing a glass door to a bar after being kicked out. That's the difference between being the greatest bass player in the world and the most successful bass player in the world. Jesus H. Even Gene Simmons had a better life and he could barely play the root notes of the guitar chords on the instrument. I think Jaco's story should speak more about the health problem of addiction and drug/alcohol abuse in America than how much talent he had.
I do not know why people are offended he's just drunk nobody is making a bad joke, that was Jaco, that was the real him, and I prefer to know the truth than to have the image of someone unreal, Good bless Jaco Pastorius.

I never said that i do not respect him.
