    I’ve watched enough of your videos to know you like for things to be “right” -- so, yes, unpick it and you will be much happier with it in the end. It’s very pretty.

    Oh my, that quilt repeating Lori Holt's star throughout with only three fabrics is a stunner. The maker should really send Lori a photo of it. The quilting you did on it takes it to another level. Outstanding quilt. Right up my alley.

    Well I’m upset at myself because for flag day I found a patriotic at WM and I just made a pillow cover for my pillow for the bench on my porch.( found a patriotic print at Walmart) looks very beautiful like the flag so that’s what I will have on my bench instead of hanging a flag. All your work is very amazing . All the blocks are beautiful. I made the butterflies and Tulips for my bench but the Stars and Stripes I had to honor our wonderful country. Thanks for sharing.

    I like that you used the same brown fabric for each month in the Spools BOM sew along. I too like white on white to use as backgrounds. Oh my goodness, I love the Fox and trees baby quilt and the gray minky backing with driftwood quilting finishes it perfectly. The grandparents wall hangings or floor quilts for the new grandchild are a wonderful thing to do. As the child grows, it will be great for a tea party. They will be a hit at the baby shower❣️ I am enjoying binge watching some previous videos as I am a fairly new subscriber.

    Just found your channel it not too long ago and I’m loving all of it! As for the leaf and your fruit basket, once I see a ‘mistake’ regardless of how large or small, I can’t unsee it! My eyes would always go to that and I would regret not fixing it when I had the chance. I guess my OCD would prevent me from moving on. Either way your quilt will be absolutely amazing! 😊

    Good morning, I love your Calico Garden fruit block. I think you should put the missing leaf on the bottom of the bowl as if it has fallen off the fruit. That way, no picking out but you will have the piece on the block.

    Beautiful blocks and quilts this week, Tammie. I would be tempted to set the extra leaf in front of the fruit at a quirky angle (perhaps towards the lower left of the block) so that it looks like it is coming from the centre top of the fruit (circle). For me this would make me smile with fondness for my inadvertent mistake - 😊

    You could just use a light-weight heat and bond on the back of the leaf fabric that you then cut to fit the space left instead of having to unpick and put the leaf under. Iron it on then just do the same stitch that you used on the rest of the fruit and leaves to go all the way around this leaf even next to the fruit. It won't have the turned edge like Lori's method does but it would get a leaf there and you won't notice after it's quilted. Or leave it and call it your Amish Humility block. Either way your quilt will be wonderful.

    Hi Tammie, as usual your quilts and your finished customer quilts are super! Very nice of you to wait to show the baby quilts so as not to spoil the surprise. As for the fruit basket's leaf, I would have to insert it into it's spot by snipping some stitches. Great progress on Scrappy Spools--yes, I am a month behind too! Your progress on Calico Gardens is inspiring! I was afraid of this quilt, but seeing how you have broken it down with your organizational methods makes me think I might tackle it. I am ready for the upcoming Bee Vintage Quilt Along. MHO on the Basket is to "float" the leaf--applique it out into the background like it is in the process of coming off the fruit. I wouldn't unpick your beautiful work & take the chance of ruining it. Your client quilts are always awesome--love the fox!

    Question about wide-back backings. Would you prewash since I’ve read that wideback fabrics are stiffer, more shrinkage & s/b prewashed. Your thoughts?

    • @tammieearnest
      @tammieearnest  Рік тому

      I don't have a desire to wash fabric prior to quilting. It seems tedious to me. I do not understand how the process for creating wide backings would be different than other yardage, so I believe the shrinkage would be very similar to them. So personally I do not prewash and I have had no problems.
