@@dale4413 I think they might be going experimental and taking advantage of (what clearly appears to be) an organized setup to controlling the patterns of the lightbar. PERSONALLY - I have a very long winded manifesto on how modern "epileptic garbage" flash patterns are ineffective and just kind of get lost in your peripherals. I'm gonna do my best to give it concisely but this might come off as rambley, opened ended, and word-salady since each one of these points is a whole novel in-of-itself and addresses a whole host of arguments, counter arguments, observations/observational data, etc etc etc. What ever they're doing has a purpose - but if you were to ask me I think it's better than having everything flickering off so fast and randomly/"out-of-harmony" that you'll just decided to sub consciously ignore it in your peripheral vision (in contrast to how frequently things are changing in - let's say your rear view mirror as you keep traveling. YES everything stays the same location wise - but frame wise - as a picture or a frame in a video - it's constantly changing and moving - the colors - the people - the actions). Also couple this with how modern LED flashers are just "single-directional" or "forward-direction" or "non-omni-directional" - they don't hit the eye unless directly behind and level. Sure they're bright and look great on camera - but the real world is another issue. ALSO yes they're bright during the day - but they're "ignorable" (again) if you will since they're about the same ambient brightness as the rest of a perfectly bright and lit day (if you will/if you can understand that). I like what the engineer here is doing in regards to the light deployment. He's coming off the highway and was probably trying to do a minimal ELS (emergency light(s) and siren(s)) response as to not freak out drivers on the highway. I notice a lot of depts here in OC like to employ a no-code response (WHEN POSSIBLE) when traveling on the highway as to not freak out drivers (I know the whole bar was on during the first several seconds of this video but given the context that the engineer was conscious in his choice to turn it off, then on for the intersection breach, then off once thought-enough - I would assume he probably was "employing it with purpose" during the trip on the freeway - so this leads me to believe that there clearly was a method to this madness was done intentionally)). Obviously in the rain, with core-LA-metropolitan freeway traffic - the convoy is going to desire keeping itself visible and "touting it's right of way"/hey we're going somewhere ASAP - and he was probably taking advantage of being the lead - and allowing a more "calmer" response if you will - as often times the modern flash patterns just 'stimulate' people (if you will) to over react and/or lock up and not properly react. Coming into the intersection however I like how they/they probably light up the full bar to the steady burn just to "wake up" drivers in the intersection, or approaching from a distance (if you've ever yourself - or heard testimony from people - when driving how everyone just kind of reflexively does things (kind of like the joke how people ask "wait what that light I passed green or red 2 lights ago?")) as they'd be staring straight at the rig VS being in a less advantageous position that is; the rearview mirror - and the fully lit bar would be a scenery change to draw attention. Also the rotators are nice as they are (building off what I said earlier) calmer pattern and are omni-directional - and mirrored properly (building off the concept of "mirrored properly" in modern emergency lighting with LEDs would be; CODE3ESG's Prizm-II's line of perimeter lights are a horrible implementation of mirror lighting, while HiViz's headlights are perfect implementation of mirrored lighting - however I will say only for a couple tens-of-degrees until they're negligible really (LED rotators really do a great job in the modern LED age) - especially during the day (as is due to the nature of how an LED emits VS a classic filament style light bulb)), and have somewhat of a "harmony" to them - so you can be sure that they'd pick up in people's peripherals.
