Vince Clarke answered his own question of why Erasure is such a success: "I can't sing and Andy can't play the computer." They complement each other like a married couple.
you'd think Vince had heard Happy Happy People by Yazoo. Blondie's Rapture had come out by then but not Erasure's cover of Blondie's Rapture, Vince sings the cool rap part. 🎶☮️🖖But they do compliment each other well. 🎶☮️🖖
@@jeffjohnson8624 Vince used to sing lead for Composition of Sound, but stopped when Dave Gahan joined and they became Depeche Mode. Vince then sang backup only, and was prominent in that role, but then he almost entirely stopped singing after he left Depeche Mode. He sang Yazoo's "Happy People" by himself, did some spoken word in a few other Yazoo songs, and rapped in Erasure's cover of Blondie's "Rapture" (Andy said he would get Vince to perform vocally, per fan interest in that). Those are the only exceptions to his vocal silence that I'm aware of. That's odd, because I don't think he sounds bad. Apparently Vince himself does, though.
How shy and down to earth, Vince is. He is master of synthetic music not the rubbish of nowadays because you are and will be remembered by your epic music since the 80's . Rubbish is temporarily and never remembered.
I love Vince Clark
He's a genius.
He's music is incredible
💗💗💗💗💗
Love it all!!
Come to Toronto
💕💕💕
He's so humble! They are so amazing! Such a gifted musician!!! Been listening to them for 25+ years!
I hope vince and andy knows how much they are loved
Hey VINCE! You are an excellent artist. I have admired you for 40 years.
Vince strikes me as someone who knows a good tune when he hears it. That's the talent bit, then comes all the hard work.
I was 12 y.o. when inside the bus back to home from School. This guy with a huge boombox playing from the Radio Station, a song called A LITTLE RESPECT the 12" remix in Brazil. That day was the day my heart went deep into Electronic Music FOREVER. I never forgot....!!! That was THE ONLY SONG that changed my life
A Little Respect by Erasure is available at most Karaoke boxes/booths in Japan. That and Take A Chance On Me. i've yet to see Oh L'amour or even Always by Erasure on Karaoke in Japan. 🎶☮️🖖🎶
There is a sense of home sickness that floods over me watching this. Erasure hits me deep and I feel as if their music is part of what makes me whole.
Ditto....a period in time.
A chunk of your life.
A piece of your history...then time rumbled on.
I guess to do with "HOW LONG HAVE WE GOT LEFT BEFORE IT'S LIGHTS OUT"....have i left anything worthwhile for my troubles?
YUP....SONIC FOXX MUSIC...every single lyric on every single song..and sang GHOSTED by THE CRUE.
Never sang before..or recorded anything...but GHOSTED seemed to work.
Stay strong..keep breathing.
From a fellow ERASURE fan.
Vince is da Man.... unique talent, humble, disarmingly honest and creator of timeless music...
Vince Clarke, a genius of music
In my head, I imagine that Vince Clarke is a robot who can not physically express emotions, but he is able to compute them through a computer to make music to express himself.
Vince Clark is a prolific synthetic music creator. Chapeau!
Andy Bell and Vince Clarke together made the best music ever in my honest opinion. I wish they produced more as I love every one of their songs. No one ever came close to what they managed to do. In a single word AMAZING!!!!
The best music along with the human league, but also Duran Thompson twins omd depeche mode aha tears for fears and simple minds are right up there for me
Grande Vince.
Andy Bell no David Bell 😅
@@yoyu_g me he equivocado , llevas mucha razón, gracias.
Google Translate: "Vince Clark, thanks for existing, without you, English electronic pop would not exist. Thank you for Depeche Mode, Yazoo and Erasure. All your fans thank you from the bottom of our hearts Vince. Greetings to you and Andy Bell from Spain. Grande Vince."
Gracias desde el Reino Unido! ¡También amamos a España! ¡Tienes playas increíbles! :)
@@masonjames1 de nada, saludos al Reino Unido 🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸
Simply a genius!!
How can anyone give this a thumbs down, go away you are not need here!!
Vince Clark and Andy Bell might never know the impact that they have had in my (and pretty sure miilions of people's) life... God keep them safe always!!!!!
This deserves far more likes than 322, a great band, totally timeless.
I love his complete honesty of that interview
Thank you VINCE CLARKE

Brilliant just brilliant...
I think Chorus is one of the best synth pop albums ever made!
Thanks so much for posting this! So awesome to hear Vince speak so candidly about his journey. Luv you Vince.
What a great interview with Vince! I sort of always heard and liked their music as teenager and student , but today February 2024, I’m even a bigger fan! It all has to do with melancholy as soon as I hear these keyboard riffs and the sound of Andy Bell’s voice! God..!! I wish I could bring the 80’s and 90’s back again!
I love vinces early erasure songs - simple and on the point
Vince speaks a lot of sense, and I love all the groups he's been in.
1991 Chorus album from Erasure is without a doubt the most played album of my life and is a total masterpiece. Unfortunatley as interesting as this interview was nothing was spoke about on the Chorus album. Erasure were right in their wheelhouse on that album. Innocents was special no doubt about it but Chorus was the canopy in the trees of all Erasure albums.
Would give anything to see them in concert just one more time. Last time was NYC, 1992. Would travel anywhere.
Well they are currently writing a new album so bound to tour after release. You will get your wish!
Genios eternos💕🇦🇷
Brilliant honesty 🙏🏻
Love this, A true Legend very interesting background to Listen and Watch. So Gifted and Talented. Keep up the fantastic work Vince :-)
Genio Vince 💕
AWESOMENESS!!!
Muito legal reviver os momentos bons de erasure. No Brasil deu início ao eurodance.
What a great interview......really really candid...no bullshit....and I agree music videos are a waste of time
Excellent. Thank you for posting this.
Thanks, Mr. Vince!!
Brilliant stuff. Vince looks well cool here. Always loved Erasure. Used to blast them out on my record player....12"s were blinding!!!
thank goodness for you guys.
Sorry Vince......you are a musician and one of the most creative song writers around.
I couldn't believe he said this, he has a great musical mind.
Erm Genius .. 👍😉
E vince Clarke parabéns pelo vídeo
Good music
Right on! 💙x
Wicked. BOXSET for upcoming 2020 erasure album this album around EIS, please. Thank you, Richard💙
Энди талантливый милашка, Винс талантливая умница) Вместе - чудесный тандем. Хотелось бы титров) Спасибо.
Quelle belle interview
❤
Love ❤️
👍☺
Nice
Tremendo clássico 🎹 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Good 🎶💚💙💛✌🇧🇷😘
This is a good interview. it also explains why Vincent isn't really in the Always video. Just his photo is in the Always video. He's true to himself. That indicates foresight. i can see how making videos would be annoying for the band or musical Duo. ☮️🖖🎶
Great musician Toby
First saw this in the Hits! second DVD...
Depeche Mode
Yazoo
Assembly
Erasure
Andy Bell sounds so much like Alison Moyet.
GOD IS VINCE CLARKE
People watch the front-man, they associate the band with the front-man. I did not give Vince the respect I should have given him over the years. I need to give Vince a lotta respect.
Ok... i am here.....i wait ❤❤❤
Love the remix dig at Depeche mode.
Please turn on the Closed Captioning. Some people who are losing their hearing but not completely deaf would like to know the contents of the information of the interview. Thank you. Arigato. Salamat.
Erasure are:
Andrew Ivan Bell
Vincent John Martin
They most certainly are!
Does anyone remember the name of the last song on this video? The one after "Chorus"... It has the German operator telling the time... It has been years since I have heard it and I cannot remember the name lol.
Erasure's Over the Rainbow
What DVD contains this short documentary?
@Reflex Boy 1985 Weird! I own that DVD, and I don't remember this video. Need to check it out again!
sad thing with Erasure though is that Andy does ALL the singing, we miss out on Vinces excellent and unique backing vocals
Diretamente da Royal Society:
Sir Vincent John Martin
Some people are too hip for their own good. Nail head >>> hammered >>> Vince Clarke
Me desculpe escrevi o seu nome errado
Kkkk da pra editar se escreveu errado
Still today not even Abba or Dm have come close to the amount of "perfect" songs that Erasure have released. I just wish that today they would try to make an album with the melodic quality as hey did until "Chorus". After Chorus its been a slow but steady decline of quality from Erasure, unfortunately.
Ii WormHolT GeeZerGodS
Love most of what Vince has to say, however, it didn't sit right with me for him to poo-poo remixes and so on.
Well, in the case of pop? yeh, it is generally true. Milk as much out of kids as you can before they move on or grow up.
BUT, to say it as a blanket statement when not all scenes are like that, and many artists who produce decent remixes and E.P.s and 12''s and so on are actually doing something valid, and expressing, for instance with psychedelic music, how the same thing can be travelled through i9n so many ways, and istelf become an art.
But yes, i do understand as a pop musician, he is talking about pop.
I totally disagree with Vince on remixes, especially remixes of the 80’s and 90’s. Another artist, producer, remixer, engineer can make their unique mark on a track, or at minimum add the additional production. Not to mention, he mentioned hating DJing at clubs, but I have seen Erasure twice, Andy on his solo tour and Vince DJing separately on tour at the Lizard Lounge in Dallas. Hypocrisy if you ask me.
There are times I’m glad Vince left Depeche Mode. He had his distinct poppy sound and gave us Erasure and Yazoo, with so many good tracks and accompanying remixes. But Depeche Mode would not be the stadium selling behemoth and Tour-de-Force of Dave and Martin they are today, with Vince. It felt like it was a natural progression for music for both Vince to leave and Alan to leave….meant to be, if you will.
Something which always bothered me is how Music Videos never matched the lyrics, it was just artistic crap...
The last good stuff they made. After that, nothing.I guess they are continuing because they have nothing else to do.
полный пиздец.. что это?
Did he is gay???? Or just Andy???
Vince is married with children.
