The best friends are the ones willing to take a picture of you on a ladder, whilst filming at the same time! Ah!!!! I saw the MET steps where you took your Blairesque pictures for Bookstagram!! Yessss!!! Gggjhgjhgjh. I was cheering when you were like "oh we found our new favourite Italian place" and then paused for the "wait, but you don't live in--" and then you completed the sentence. Bummer! That sucks! But hey, at least you know there's somewhere you'll be visiting the minute you go to Bookcon next year. And if you ever have someone passing through New York to LV, you can have them stop by to get you a to-go pack (it's what I would do and have done. Crazy. I know. Ggjhgjhgjhghj). You're feeding me with ALL my favourite things Brittany!!! Alternating between books and sneakers and I'm getting whiplash cuz I want them ALLLLLLLL!!!! A skateboarding dog?!! That is so cute!!! I want that framed on my wall!! Rofl. And then I screamed cuz I saw the Cardi B billboard moment and was like I recognize that backdrop!!!! (Clearly this is yet another reason why I watch your travel vlogs religiously. To spot the bombass background for your Bookstagram :D.). That pizza looks sooo good!!! I might buy some pizza this weekend.
So glad you had fun at Bookcon! And I think you're right to go in with the expectation to hang out with established friends, meet new people (not necessarily make new friends) and just have a blast. It's probably what I would do as well when I finally decide to come to Bookcon. Also, human beings are social creatures, we naturally form cliques, although I prefer to call it tribes. Having a group of friends who get you, who you bond with and who are your port in this storm of craziness that is creating on Booktube is not a bad thing. I wish people could see it like that, and realize that their feeling of loneliness they fell isn't necessarily that they want to be part of another person's tribe, but that they want to form their OWN tribe and when you spend so long miserable and angry that others don't want to accept you, you lose sight of the many other people who DO want you as part of their tribe and are just waiting for you to see that. And now I just typed out yet another epistle of a reply. I'm a mess. Fgjhgjhgjhg.
YES I didn't even think of how I can just eat there again next year! SO EXCITING!!!!!. And I love that you recognized all the backdrops!!! ahhhhh! and I LOVE you calling it a 'tribe' it's so much more personal and positive!

I would not rule out the possibility of going to BookCon. In Sweden there is Bokmässan in Gothenburg every fall. I liked going to Närcon two summers in a row but going to Comiccon was a let down only because i was not in the mood.

When I went to New York City, my hotel was half a block off Times Square. I was in Heaven. Granted, I only had two days there but we packed in a lot and I got to see Katharine Hepburn’s house and the garden dedicated to her.
Your anxieties about making new friends are the EXACT same as mine. I’m always terrified of interrupting people always. To this day, I cannot just jump into a conversation. That is a maaaaaaajor source of anxiety for me.

Honestly they were all incredible! But I think Emma from emmmabooks has a way of really making you feel special while talking to her and takes so much interest in conversations! She was fantastic!
