    I have a question about pushing overrides. (Example)
    a component is created. I decide later to add an image to the component.
    The image is only appearing on master component. I am looking for a push override to update all components. Id appreciate any help offered. Thanks, great video!

    Is there a way to move a component across the entire document without manually selecting? As an example, if I have a pause button and I want to move it globally to the left on every artboard it appears on.

      You can edit the master component. Just drag your item in your master component from the layers panel. Once your item is added it'll show up on every instance.
      Now you can just hide the item in your master component and manually go to the instance where you want the icon/text to show.

      Hey Elvis, you could try double-clicking to go inside the master component, then once inside create the new UI elements and then create this as a nested component. Sometimes I find it easier to start a component from scratch, and build the nested (inside) components first and then work outwards. Hopefully that makes sense 👍

    Hi Dansky - What do I do when a Master Component has been made, but then more content needs to be added to it ( an icon or extra text to add). What is the procedure to do this and update all other components. Thanks

  • @playbak
    @playbak 5 років тому +3

    Anyone know how to accurately adjust component frame to revised content inside it?? 3:30 is a perfect example of this showing how first and last letter get cropped outside the component frame when text is enlarged... Yes you can drag the component frame out but it doesn't snap to the text edge inside it!
    This sucks for future alignment purposes. Only work around I found is measuring both sizes (frame + content inside), then matching W & H to the revised content and finally aligning X & Y axis ugh

    Hi hoping you can help? :) I'm ok working with components in theory but when it comes to sharing a link to our dev guys only the master component comes through as downloadable asset / and components that have overrides on arnt downloadable so I end up going through the XD before I share it and deleting the master components and selecting all for output? this seems weird as I'd expect a override component to be an asset? :) thanks

    Dansky hi! What is the defferense beetween components and group?

    • @ForeverDansky
      @ForeverDansky  5 років тому +2

      Hey Yasya! A group makes it easier to move a collection of layers together at once, and so you can also apply prototyping actions to a single group, rather than to items individually. Components are reusable assets, whereby if you edit the Master Component, every other version of that component will be updated throughout the document 👍

    Is there a way to add shapes to an existing component? It seems to me that you can only tweak the component's existing shapes. It looks like you have to destroy the component, add the shapes to the art board, then turn them into a component again, which you mean I'd have to change all the existing components to the new component.

    Is it possible to make an overide compenont its own master component? Basically doing a save as for a component if that makes sense.

    • @ForeverDansky
      @ForeverDansky  Рік тому +1

      Yes, you can ungroup a component and essentially break it apart, and then select everything and create a new component which will make it a new master component.

    If I create a text as a component and then create an instance and add repeat grid to it, I am not able to fit the bounding box of each of the elements. Example: I wrote "example" 40px and made it a component, created an instance and added repeat grid sideways and typed home, new products, about... there is an overlap and placing them equally is not possible. How do I correct this?

    Can someone help? When I try to use instances of a button component it changes the type in the button to say whatever was in the master.... So if I want to change the style of a button that says "Read more" if I click on the instance I want to use (color change), it applies the style but also changes the words to say "Button" ...

    • @ForeverDansky
      @ForeverDansky  2 роки тому

      Hey Jessica! Typically, I create my "master button" and will write words in it like "text here", move this master out of the way of any design work, and make sure that I'm always making duplicates from the master and only changing the words of these duplicates (Instances of a Component). If you edit the text in the "master button" it will update the text across all instances 👍

    Hi, thanx for the video.
    1) try to show those new staff on a real and complex enough project
    2) please youtubers, stop explain things what we already know for years (master comp or symbol doesnt matter, artboard guides, caps modifications etc)
    3) show us problems of those so called new features. For example do you really find useful that asset panel? Can it be useful in a normal project? Can designers find what they need in that panel?
    4) why masters are not gathering in one place? How designers control them after 20 artboards for example?
    5) youtubers should stop saying those new staff “huge”, “new”, “game changer” etc. These are not new at all.
    6) design youtubers should take responsibilities like show what is missing what should be there really. Make some research, tell your design workflow and problems you had, explain what you really need in XD.
    For nearly decades, I personally spent nearly 5K dollars for adobe products. And after that we had to use another tools like sketch, why? We had to wait for Adobe to show us a real solution but they did not. After that they put something front of us: XD. We thrilled first. But after 3 years they did nothing and today they are presenting this to us like something huge.
    We had to learn new tools, we had to spent money to new tools, we had to spent tons of time to make a workflow systems with them and today Adobe says “we added something big(already known standard things) to XD, we are grate and come back to use XD”
    They had Flash as well. They have tons of experience. They have scientists, thinkers, money everything. Actually Adobe can create something totally grate but they seems like playing with us.
    For recent 5 years I personally tried to explain what we really need. For example do you think that modern design tools should have some CSS ebilities like flexbox? Do we really imitate it with current tools? For example why the hell we dont have anima’s AutoLayout tool as embedded into software itself? Do you use it in a project? If not please try to use it patiently and try to use it well. After use it you dont believe what we missing here.
    This is only one example. But they present artboard guides as a huge additions... they say “we have gamepad controls this is huge”
    I really fed up listening. This is totally frusturation sadly.
