    Hello Claire,
Thank you for the helpful tips, I'm currently applying for NHS roles and what you've mentioned is exactly some of the dilemmas I'm going through. I've been applying for a few nursing roles in the last two months and my format has been headings with bullet points. However, I'm trying to balance the number of examples for each requirement as well as mention other things about me that stand out. As a result, my statements end up close to 1500 words, following the person specs to its entirety and wondering whether what I'm writing is relevant or not.
However, I've had one interview and another one due next week. Can a long statement be a problem, is it possible for one statement to demonstrate more than one of the essentials/desirables? Would appreciate your help and if appropriate would you look at my statement? Thank you

Roy Mahendran Morning! Yay for interviews!! You’re obviously doing it right! 🌟💕 whoop! Well done!! It’s really hard to narrow it down you’re right. Keep examples to a minimum :) maybe one per point? Just to show you understand what’s being asked of you. There’s usually a word count on them? As long as you stay in the word count you’ll be fine. The main thing is, if you’ve put it in the application already don’t add it to the personal statement 😁 xx

Thank you Claire. It works for some and not for others. Glad about the interview coming up. Would it be possible to have an example from you to see how it works with mine or better still can I show you my statement and tell me what you think? Thank you for your help so far 😊 x

Hi Claire, hope you are well. I want to start by saying thank you! Two years ago you helped me with how I should approach my NHS job application form and as a result, I've been a scrub nurse for two years and it's been a life-changing experience. Thank you so much for your help. I'm now in the process of applying for an ODP course, which is a 3-year apprenticeship degree course. The application form looks similar to an NHS job application form, in terms of meeting the person specification, personal statement and supporting info. My question; would I still be treating this the same way as an NHS job application or do I need to be careful and write something slightly different?
    Appreciate your help always

Aw thank you so much!! That’s amazing to hear! I’m so glad you’re doing well! Sounds like you’re doing amazing actually - well done!! 👏🏻💙
Yeah I would treat it the same :) because it’s still healthcare related, just different trust / companies etc. just tailor it to the place you are applying to 🥰 x

@@ClaireCarmichael You’re amazing! I always thought that my career path would lead me to become a registered staff nurse, but since I’ve been a scrub nurse it’s changed where I want to be and recently I went to an ODP conference in Manchester and I’ve decided ODP is where I really want to be. Two years ago I never thought I would be in this position or working in this environment. I’m loving it!
Thank you always Claire, you’re one of a kind and if I need a little help I’ll come to you. If I ever bump into you it will be the biggest thanks! X

    Hi, Claire.
I have been offered a position from previous ward placements but I had to decline them because ward settings aren't for me.
Now, I have just qualified recently and must apply by writing a personal statement for my first job as NQN.
Is this pretty common? (because I have noticed that most students in my cohort have accepted jobs from their placement, therefore, they didn't have to go through this application process).
PS, keep up the great work and amazing contents!!
Me and my friends watch your videos because it helped us cope with many areas of nursing (especially with placement!)

      Morning!
Yeah this is common, most people have to apply with a statement or a CV and cover letter :)
Put down all your transferable skills and sell yourself! You’ll do great I’m sure!
Thank you so much 🙏🏻☺️❤️ and good luck!!!! Whoop! Xx
