There is also one thing between Dreamcast and PC versions. In dreamcast version, you can encounter pretty much all cars in all districts, including non marked gang cars.
I'm a man who wants a gta 2 remaster it would be cool but rockstar wouldn't do that.(And yes I use a translator because I'm not very good at English :| )
Can we stop a moment and admire how a studio could develop a GTA game for GBC in that time and nowadays, Rockstar just bring us a RDR port for PS4 and Switch😥.
Comparing the PS1 version with PC, contrary what some people said, i think the PS1 version is still very good, since it has some unique aspects, but the PC version is still a bit better. PS1 version pros: -Bigger ui -Some levels or missions were slighty changed for the better. Some missions on PC were hard as hell, and it seems that in PS1 were a bit easier with a much less kill counter, also in the second district you start with a car crusher close to the save point, and it really saves you a lot of time instead of randomly search around the city. -Loading times have cool images -Minigames unlocks much more easier PS1 Negatives: -Loading times -No multiplayer -Worst framerate -Worst graphics -No voices (this hurts me a lot) -You cannot choose the time of the day -There´s much less things on the map: Cars, people, powerups and weapons. While the powerups and weapons are still present in the game (i already check it out with the car crusher), it ends up being useless since this powerups last like 30 seconds, contrary to PC where they placed it at strategic points. Weapons like the Rocket Launcher, Electrogun and Flamethrower were almost non existent and if you dont use the car crusher you could complete the game without finding any one. -There´s a few glitches: Sometimes the swat trucks dont appear in 4 heads, when you load the game the GTA points collected just returns to its original places and sometimes the game freezes when you want to save the game
@@sanskarthepro While i think i like how some aspects like the road on the streets or the explosions of the cars looks more realistic, everything else has missing effects, lower quality sprites or cut down animations
PC version is the best. PSX version is limited by the hardware and there's less traffic on the streets, low resolution graphics and no 'Dusk' mode which makes game look nicer. On PC there are plenty of patches that allow widescreen and absurd high resolutions for such an old game. There are also fanmade translations. What I like about PSX version is the full gamepad controls which can't be set in the PC version settings since it doesn't support so many buttons. You can use gamepad to keyboard mapping tool (I'm using Antimicro on Linux) to map all the game keys to your modern gamepad, including the F-keys to switch radio stations. It works really great and makes the game more enjoyable.
If you had the one for Windows, you can actually edit the areas to have more gangs in them (sometimes it's pretty glitchy - they look like they have rainbow-colored suits or they're just totally different colors... but yeah, it works...) #GTA2 #Windows
you can edit the Traffic Pool with the STY Editor. So you can add nonmarked Gang Cars and the tow truck. Or if you want all cars avaibale in Downtown for example, you can do it.
I like the Dreamcast version because it's a console... but without a doubt the Dreamcast version is better than the PC version, the cars don't have lights at night, you can't change the radio station, the cars don't suffer damage to the bodywork and finally the PC version is more complete in terms of sounds, when you pick up a weapon you hear the name of the weapon and among other details... it's really a shame the Dreamcast version is covered in that sense...
Obviously the GBC just has too much under the hood for the pitiful PC, DC and PSX to ever keep up. An easy win for Nintendo's Pocket Goliath, despite the valiant attempts from the three underdogs.
