- Tired of aprons cluttering up your woodshop? (Is that just a me problem?)
Today we're making a simple DIY apron rack out of padauk and oak scraps from our cut off bin.
Or I guess you could use it as a coat rack if you don't have as many aprons as we do!
Getting an apron in our shop is a hassle. If you breath too hard they fall off the hanger. To be fair, we have about 15 aprons hanging on 3 little Magswitch Magjigs that someone put up years ago. And while the magswitches are trying their hardest, they could use a little help. So after some Google-ing for inspiration . I pulled some scraps out of our cut off bin and got to work.

Perfect for beginner and experienced woodworkers alike, this project is a great way to upcycle leftover wood and keep your shop organized.
As with most things in woodworking, there are more than one way to do this project. You don't need to use the tools I have, you can modify the design to suit the tools you have!

Awesome coat rack!! I've been a woodworker for many years but (in my personal opinion) I wouldn't be caught dead using an apron.
awesome design!
Beautiful. I like the contrasting woods.
Thanks!
Wondering if the white film is the same phenomena as you see on a chocolate bar that sits untouched for several months. I always assumed it was oils rising to the surface.
You can't have too many aprons!
Ok, so I don't have a bandsaw, the jointer, plainer, and whatever that other big giant machine you used. So can I use a regular jigsaw and orbital sander for this project? Lol
Of course! There are always more than one way to do things. A bandsaw may make it easier, but that doesn't mean you can't do it jig saw. And you can always change the design to fit what you and your tools are capable of.
What is Osmo?
Osmo Polyx oil is a hardwax oil finish. Super easy to apply, plenty durable, easy to touch up, safe for food contact. it's my personal favorite finish at the moment for most things. We have another video on our channel if you want to learn more.
