Who is your favourite kickboxer David
Yo David just wanna recommend a boxer Carlos Monzon. Let me know if your going to make a vid bout him
Why you didn't say lebanner is French ?
As a young Dutch k-1 fan, I was always scared when one of the Dutch guys had to go against Le Banner. He was the boogeyman. He's such a beast, and technical as well. I think it's really weird he never won the K-1, he deserved a title.
And yet a small Thai gave him so many problems, sure he won but I felt like it was draw or a robbery
Yeah but there were so many great fighters, so to win you had to be truly exceptional.Great fighters especially from Holland.I've always admired Dutch kickboxing.
Le banner, Bernardo, and crocop. The best to never win the gp. They were all terrifying
@@Notmymycology You're wrong about Crocop, he won the last one, I think in 2012.
@@ra-ge wow!!! Your 100% correct how did I not remember that 🤦🏻♂️ 😂
Awesome stuff. Hoost has had some great fights against LeBanner. I actually got the chance to speak to him when I visited the Netherlands. I somehow ended up with his phone number. He was gracious and gave me some training advice and gyms I could visit. He's always been a favorite for me.
That's very cool! Glad to hear he's such a nice dude in person.
Hoost is a monster. Only guy I ever saw injure someone when they kicked his shin... they kicked him and they got injured.
Silva broke his shin over Weidman's leg in their rematch.
@@WaywardBrigand And Weidman broke his shin over Hall’s.
Weidman broke Silvas shin with a check
Who is Ray Sefo
"The internet"
Old K1 and PRIDE were a pinacle of combat sports for me. No one cared for weight classes, everyone was rooting for best fighters and there was no trash talk & drama in focus. Really a golden age of combat sports IMO
There was a lot of Trash Talk in PRIDE ..
This is objectively the best martial arts channel on youtube
You had me at Hoost. Although you could say that with a bunch of people in this tournament.
Hoost is the first name that comes to mind when I hear K1. An absolute wrecking machine. Le Banner was a monster that nobody wanted to face. Savage power and some great techniques. Both guys came to finish, no score a win.
Hoost and Le Banner is one of those incredible rivalries in K1. The first got his dedicated video, I'd love it if you did the same for Jérome !
K-1 was legendary sport with legendary fighters! No sport comes even close to these k-1 days ❤ 🙇♂️💪🏻👑🙏🏻
So unlucky for Lebanner , he beat all the champions but never won the championship
Chael sonnen
So u could argue he is a champion in his own right.
@@jimbo9661 Even mark Hunt or Overeem Won a championship and they didnt have too many fights in K1, Idk how u can be so unlucky like Lebanner
Pls keep pushing out videos for this tournament as quick as possible. These are becoming my favorite breakdowns as of late
I can’t believe they fought each other 5 times
1:10 The exact moment than Francisco Filho's fighting soul left his body. The man was never the same after that.
Absolutely fantastic videos thank you so much for making these!
Thank you for bringing back those memories and for your great breakdowns. When the best fought the best in K1. And bringing back Mr. Perfect's incredible skills. And props to Le Banner he did beat Hoost twice.
The WARS Le Banner had with Mark Hunt are Epic also
Thanks for the amazing breakdown as always
This objectively the best martial arts Channel on UA-cam
Agreed. Lawrence kenshin a close 2nd
Ernesto Hoost, in my opinion, is the greatest K-1 kick-boxer of any period. He has won the K-1 Championship 4 times, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2002. In 1993 Hoost had win the K-2 Championship. He is also the only person to beat every single K-1 world champion and runner up, some at multiple times.Retiring with a record of 99 wins and 21 losses.
Peter Aerts 4x
Jerome LeBanner 3x
Andy Hug 3x
Ray Sefo 3x
Mirko Filipovic 3x
Sam Greco 3x
Stefan Leko 3x
Musashi 2x
Fransisco Filho 2x
Maurice Smith 2x
Did he win against Bonjasky and Schild?
Awesome breakdown as usual. 💪 I never watched these fights but think I might do so now.
This was epic please do the rest faster , I'm so excited to see it !!!
Man, I can’t thank you enough for these videos. Keep it up
Really enjoy your breakdowns of fighters/fights. I am learning from it for my own sparring
Can't stress this enough....this is the BEST series on UA-cam
Maravilloso máster Christian! Keep it up! 🤜🤛
This might sound weird but I first heard of Hoost when I saw a recording of his appearance on Gaki no Tsukai's Silent Library series. They mentioned something about him being a fighter but that didn't really matter for the content he was making with them. lol
Had no idea he was such an icon in the martial arts world.
This mf was on silent library 🤣 what!
Thanks a lot Bro for sharing and bringing some most intricate details of one of K1's Legendary Fight. Please continue making such type of Super Amazing Videos Bro 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🙏👌🤓🙏👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌🙏🙏👍👍👍
Watch every one of these, they're great!
Please more of this series!!!
I can't wait to see the rest of this series
Loved the K1 in the 90's
The Japanese ring announcer when Hoost came out was always amazing
*Ernessssstoooooooooooo Ahhh Hooostoooo aaaaaaahhh!*
Very good video, well done Sir.
Legendary time with legendary fighters!!
The Anime Tournament I never knew I wanted
And they did it for 10 years or better .This was truly the golden age
@@Notmymycology so fucking awesome
Awesome. It shows that experience and adaptability really works well in the moment
Some day I'll find the names of all ur soundtracks and then I'll finally be happy.
I'm going to make a playlist soon, fear not :)
ur content is so freakin' goated dude.
Much love . Would be much Appreciated if you could do a break down of the style of Dwight Muhammad Qawi. Awesome boxer from the 80s and early 90s. Your technical break down would do him justice
Great breakdown video and analysis. Recommending a Julio Cesar Chavez vs Pernell Whitaker breakdown. And Gerald McClellan, don't see a lot of people mention him now a days
Suena interesante voy a ver!
perfect timing 💨💨
Great breakdown 👍💪
Hoost has to be one of my all time favourite fighters .... humble, fair, pleasure to watch ....this sport needs more Ernesto and less Connor type of fighters
Why do I love these?
I dig the new editing effects and slow mo thingy too, I forgot whats it called.. vortax vortex.. anyways sweet vid, dude
You should do one on the checking with the shins that Hoost did. I'd love to know more about that
Edit: He has a video on this. As with all of David's other work, it is amazing
@@sus425 searched it up. It's top tier
What to search pls help
Buen análisis me a gustado mucho!
Great video.
beautiful thumbnail, beautiful breakdown
What i remember most about jerome le banner from watching him on ESPN 2 back in 2002-2003? Those iconic gold and black shorts (not shown here)
What a war, a treat for the fans!
I’d love to see a breakdown of Forrest Griffins unorthodox style of fighting! He seems so awkward you’d think he’d never learned how to punch when you see him sometimes. Yet he lands with such heavy hands. I’m no expert but obviously there has to be a technique behind his style that enabled him to be so successful and entertaining.
Love it if you’d make a video on him! I love your videos! Your highly technical yet easily understandable style is awesome.
Forrest didn't have heavy hands and was known as a pretty bad striker. I don't think there's much to break down other than he was tough and not very technical
Not very technical in a technical sense(lol) yet he had a specific style all his own as well as a strategy. That’s what I’d be interested in hearing him analyze.
Even though Forrest seems like he’s just wailing wildy(and maybe he is) I still think there’s a “technical” aspect of any fight or brawl that can be gleened by an expert like this guys channel.
BTW I’m no expert so could be way off here but it makes sense to me hahaha
The best combat sports channel around
Two of my favoured fighters! ;)
Great video man! Those guys were beasts. Could anyone tell what the song that plays at the start is called?
Hey when is Ali norton 2 coming I thought you said it was in the next 5 videos and that was almost 10 vids ago not trying to be impatient just wondering
That was part of the deal with Top Rank and WSC which took longer to clinch than I thought. So it should be soon, really sorry for the delay!
It's okay your content is awesome nonetheless.
The thing nobody is mentioning though is how did Hoost win that second fight....by Boxing. Boxing really is the superior sport when you take a kickboxer and put him against a boxer he usually always loses only when he abandons the key elements of Kickboxing and learns boxing does he win, it truly is the sport of kings.
Don't forget to do an analysis on Manson Gibson. I will really appreciate it. Thanks Bro, Love your channel
Hoost is super entertaining to watch. It's also special to see a kickboxer specialized in leg kicks outbox a pure boxer
Accurate timing this time bro
K1 will always hold such a huge part of my heart. RiP Hug
Timing is power. Timing is EVERYTHING!!
Show the other ones of both of these legends please!
That tourney was full of legends. I wish tourneys like that still were a thing.
Didn't you have a breakdown of Mason Gibson vs Hoost? I can't seem to find it.. need it ASAP..want to try the side stance, I keep getting eaten up with low kicks from the right lol ty!

Here you go bud.
😯 what a punching combination from the best kicker in the game.
Will you cover the lightweight K-1 World Max Grand Prix too ?
Those hooks from Jerome, I'd almost call some Hookjabs (is that a term?), the way his arm is basically straight when he lands, with the arcing of the arm sideways throwing off the guarding somewhat.
Le Banner was amazing, totally dominated.
Never knew these because I don’t watch kickboxing but nevertheless great video. I enjoyed it.
Befofe I learned of Hoost as a legendary kickboxer I learned of him as the legend that had a huge balloon explode inside his shirt in Silent Library.
Champ champ
maaaama this was a legendary match 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
In the words of Marlon Vera, "You can't keek a keeker."
Gotta be the best boxing channel on UA-cam 😉😅
So cool!
Hoost had a thing for legkicks….
Well that’s an understatement
Modern martial artist, Can you make a video on the 2 Tyson vs Holyfield fights?
what is the track playing at the beginning
is there a place to watch this event in full?
Hey man, a MMA fan here. Can you please cover the two Pereira v Adesanya fights? It looks like the UFC is gonna make that happen in the next few months. All MMA fans would love to see your take.
hoost really seemed to like using leg kicks I'm surprised you didn't mention it
NOT CLICKBAIT 10/!0 accurate title GOOD JOB!
Am a huge fan of the kickboxing breakdowns, kickboxing and Muay Thai are fascinating to me. I definitely appreciate boxing, but prefer kickboxing.
11 of 15 fights ended in KOs, must've been cool being there live
El k1 es mi disciplina favorita una autentica pasada las leyendas del ring lebaner era una bestia pero hoost menuda fiera un luchador peligrosisimo!!de mis favoritos grande ernesto
Was that megaloboxing music in the beginning??
Depends on the glove size. Smaller gloves, puncher. Standard gloves, kicker
Big fan of both of these guys. Hoost was one of the most technical kickboxers of all time at any weight. LeBanner was my favorite kickboxer in those days, criminally underrated in my opinion, much more technical than he gets credit for. His incredible athleticism and power overshadowed his technique in my opinion.
I didn't know Le Banner was a Right Handed SouthPaw
I would love to get k1 back
can someone explain me why there were 2 fights in this video ?
Are you continuing this series?
Right? I was super into this and it got great views
Can you do a breakdown of Wilfredo Gomez next?
Whats the song at 1:50??
I still don't understand how Hoost lost twice to Bob Sapp.
Was payed
I think my coach has been secretly trying to turn me into hoost
Hoost was so fuckin good That he got destroyed by the very best Jean Yves Thériault ...
2 of the best.
Are they relatively the same weight? Hoost looks way slimmer
